Is that even legal in the UK? I thought we had a 250W limit (this is 710W) and pedal assist only (This is full power)
Or does it get around the rules by being a mountain bike and therefore not used on public roads/spaces?

The battery is 710 watt hours, the motor is a 250watt unit.
"Motor: Specialized 2.0, 70Nm torque, custom tuned motor, 250W nominal"
Also this is a pedal assist and legal on UK roads.
"seamless pedal assistance and long lasting-battery life"

£1700 with cycle2work scheme (lower tax payer, £1450 higher tax payer) makes this a great option for commuting and trail riding at the weekends. Big battery so also good for touring potentially. Could be the perfect do it all ebike.
A lot of bike for your money
    Kijoki2's avatar
that 1450 sounds sweet but as a contractor don't get the cycle2work thing

A surprising amount of ebike for £2.5k.

Unfortunately, specialized are theft magnets. True of any high end bike tbh, but don't cheap out on locks and think about how you're going to store it before you buy.

Looking at the reviews, the app enables you to disable the motor and stops the ability to peddle it.

It can also sends an alarm to your phone, but in my opinion that could lead to a dangerous confrontation.

    Such a great deal.
There's a wider selection of sizes available at Balfe's Bikes. Same price and with free delivery.

These turbo tero X bikes are bit of a mixxed bag

specialized don’t describe them as a mountain bike and instead have them under there urban/city range

couple of things seperate this from their proper Full sus mountain ebikes

Cheaper Single pivot rear suspension rather than their well known FSR 4 bar system, longer stems, steeper geometry, full length town style mud guards, and shorter travel suspension.

great for most things(towpaths, forest roads, etc), but would struggle to keep up with a proper mountain bike on mountain bike trails. (edited)

Looking at the reviews I have to agree with most of what you say.

This is very much designed primarily as a commuter with the ability to take you onto the easier mountain bike trails. It seem to be if you can only afford one bike like most of us.

But the following review states that it does surprisingly well off road :-

But then the trails in the video are very dry not like muddy GB.

Heavy sturdy bike that should come with rack be aware when battery runs out they're like pushing a tank
    UncleWilly's avatar
Absolutely. This bike weighs 23kg so it would be way too heavy to pedal as a conventional bike. I'll stick with my 15kg Orbea Gain D50 thanks.

Does anyone know if there can be gained some cashback or buying cheaper gift cards or some discount like British Cycling 10% at Halfords. Tempting deal.
    taterhash's avatar
You can get 4.25% cashback from Evans Cycles through TopCashback.

I've got a limit on our cycle scheme for £3k but I was really trying to get it to work on a Levo - but everyone selling it for under £3k knocked me back as they were ex-demos... I want it to primarily commute to/from work, however, I'm sick of the grief you get on the roads nowadays so I want to take it to the trails. Getting to work on trails is clearly going to take longer and I couldn't make it work with school drop-offs at 8:30am and a 8 or 9 mile commute.

This is perfect! I can get it on cylescheme, I can max out on the way to work to get there in good time, I can come back and have fun through the trails. I can look to get the nipper on the back and go out with the fam at the weekend. I can go out with the mates and hit some trails. I'm not going to be taking big jumps! But I'm going to be ok charging around singletrack... Perfect...

    Cheers OP, hopefully ordered....

Also have the same limit on mine but found most companies would accept payment on top, which is what I did to get the Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 SLX. Beast of a bike and very happy with it!

As seen (or should i say have to dodge to avoid getting hit) in most UK towns ridden by Just Eat/Deliveroo Drivers
    bornagainst's avatar
Delivery riders don't ride bikes like this...

You buy a car for that
    chitychatty's avatar
But.... you have to fuel, maintain, tax and insure a car.

Anyone recommend a bike for fat guys like me (110kg) who want to sit in an upright position whilst cycling and have a big saddle? Electric for going up hills as well
    dantetomas's avatar
Get a non electric bike and you will be non fat guy soon
  12. Begize's avatar
A mullet setup on an electric bike? Not sure about that.
    J_Jen's avatar
Becoming more common on downhill focused eMTB's. Not sure on this one though as it's more XC than downhill.

Does this have a removable and replaceable battery? And is it powerful enough for hills? I was going to buy the specialized como, but realised it wasn't.
    sswats's avatar
The motor on this has 70Nm of torque so should be plenty for hills.
Which Como were you comparing it to because the Turbo Como has 50Nm of torque which should also be enough? Any more then its more off road slippery/loose surface mountain bike territory rather than just hills.

If you meant the Turbo Como SL, yes that has 35Nm. So the Tero would be double the torque. (edited)

86 mile range sounds a bit optimistic.?

Now gone up to £2,799 at Evans. Slightly cheaper (£2,750) at Balfes.

Anyone had their Evans orders cancelled? My mate's just had his cancelled by them after full payment as the bike "arrived damaged". Notably Evans took the listing off for his size & colour for a few days, but now they're listing them as available at a higher price.
