#12

Lmao
#13
Yeah 800x600 resolution, that's terrible. Can't vote hold with that res at that price I'm afraid. Bloody cool though!
#14
Prospective buyers please note - the product specification says this item should not be used to attempt to overthrow Imperial forces in a galaxy far, far away. Hence I will have to vote cold.
#15
I thought this would be a pile of poop and not worth £1700 but I watched the video and now I want one!
#16
No HDMI - looks nice but with yesterdays workings inside
#17
all the blokes will be going 'hell yes', and the girls going 'eh?!'

Shame about the resolution - still, this was designed a long time ago...
#18
Now why didn't they make the remote a lightsabre, store in R2's head, be much cooler!
#19
rd d2 is really a monkey in a robot mask
#20
Not gonna vote but if you can afford to spend that much on a gimmick £300 isn't going to make that much difference!
#21
Have to say I was going to vote cold after seeing the resolution but actually seeing the video has changed my mind! This is, indeed as close to the real R2 you could get!
The only thing I would hope is that you don't have to always steer the thing round the room i.e. if you command it to go to film ceiling then it does it itself but I bet it doesn't which would be a shame!

Otherwise pretty warm (although not quite hot).
#22
Was about to buy two but no DAB.
#23
£300 off is good, but the fact it is over £1000 is ridiculous. Hot still, only cause it is xmas ;)
#24
no blu ray player, no full HD projection
for this price!?
but it is cool
but cold

..The force is weak within this one..

I would SO buy one of these if I had the cash!! I do have an actual R2 to command for the mean time though.. he is so cute and sometimes when you don't talk to him he humps your leg.. I swear!:w00t:

Yeah but DAB is officially **** and will only be replaced within the next 5 years or so.

It's a very cool little toy, but that's one expensive toy.

And I say toy because the picture quality is regarded as very poor. You could get a similar image spending a third of the price.
#31
I cant stand Star Wars but after watching that trailer even I want one!
My husband and kids would love it.
#32
Rubbish spec. Even the 1977 version could do Holograms!
#33
Just read one guy's review on the play site and he says....

"And please, people, stop saying it's not hd. The onboard dvd player isn't, but if you project from an external source you can get all but the full 1080p hd resolution. I've used my ps3 on it and (believe it or not) the projector actually handles 720p and 1080i better than ordinary pal output when i'm playing a fast moving game through it."

So why is everyone complaining about the resolution???

You could actually get a better projector for under £400, however I guess it wouldn't be as cool as this. I suppose it depends what you want, i'd say this is more of a gimmick than good projector, but like I said it is really cool and i'd love one if I could justify the price (which I can't!!). If it was around £500 then i'd say it's worth it, at this price it's still far too expensive.

I'm a big Star Wars and gadget fan... but I guess the problem is I'm a huge AV fan and that part of me overrules; this just such poor value for money in the long run.

I won't deny it is very cool though...

I did actually mean a quarter of the price, my maths is just a bit off today :p

It's 800 X 600 resolution (SVGA), so it has to upscale to do 720p, so in my books this isn't a true HD projector. An Optoma costing under £400 will project at 1280 X 720, so looking at that, this is not as good for over 4 times the price. I know it's cool, but still not a great projector.
#37
Can this one fly or do we have to wait for the special edition version?
#38
I'll wait for the holographic version. Sky are planning on launching 3D stuff in two years.

Oh gawd I want one!
#39
This is now another £200 cheaper and with the RAC discount of 5% you can save another £75.
