    After watching this as a child, still can’t bring my self to watch out for shooting stars/meteor showers and you’d never get me on holiday to Iceland/Norway to see the aurora borealis.
    Think this series is also responsible for me having a Land Rover that’s always fuelled and ready to go.;) (edited)

    Get yourself a decent pair of goggles and load the landrover up with a few gallons of weed killer and you could make a bloody fortune

    I don't think there's ever been a really good version that's been faithful to the book, but this one is the best of a bad lot. That series with Eddie Izzard and the film with Howard Keel, were quite awful.

    Second that - it was terrifying!!! I'm not even sure I would want to watch it now - who knows what childhood trauma it would release!!

    Voted hot as it is a classic series though!!

    I seem to remember a young Ray Winston in it. Everytime the news goes on about meteor showers I goes on about this.

    I watched this when I was 10/11 years old the first time around (so not last week then :P ) I still think it is the best televised version. Will have to watch it again.
