"Will these fit my Cortina? Will these fit my Ferrari? Will these fit my tractor?" How the bleeding hell can you trust anyone on here to know? If you want to know stuff like that ask on your car's forum. Don't put your faith in some random loon from this site when it comes to your car tyres!!!

The remaining good one is a Michelin one. I purchased that brand new last year from Costco. It replaced a worn out tyre that was near the legal thread limit. I'll replace all 4 with these toyos one and sell the Michelin one on ebay. As it got a decent thread remaining left on it.

Your confusing me now, isn't it just the tyre rim that matter the "r15"?

If you fit the wrong sized tyres on your car, have an accident, the insurance company will be right on top of you for a start, plus they are that size for a reason, never change the sizes.

Good deal but remember prices for tyres are coming down again...

Would check local places and see if they can beat the price, especially if buying 4 as you're paying postage on each...

I would also say it's well worth spending a fiver more and going for the Uniroyal Rainsport 2's - much better all round tyre and seem to suit the UK roads / climate a bit better.

Yes, but not to the same standards or with the same quality of materials. … Yes, but not to the same standards or with the same quality of materials. Sure, you don't need the ultimate grip offered by high-performance tyres if you are only driving normally, however, what cannot be ignored is the improved stopping distances and lack of aqua-planing offered by better quality, branded tyres. Just Google any official tyre test and see how the budget Chinese stuff fairs. Each to their own, but IMHO to save a few quid on one of the cheapest tyre sizes is a bit short-sighted.

My only point is when people are saying they are trying the change their tyre sizes just to have these cheap, which I think is wrong, for £35 you can get a budget, but when you factor in fitting, these will cost more like £40-45, and you can get good ish tyres for around that, so what's the point of buying a 'sports' tyre which will wear prematurely, when you can buy something half decent which will last, and will be the right size for your car.

It can do, especially if it's on the front and has a lot more or less grip. If you brake hard and one wheel locks before the other you won't necessarily go straight.

Best advice is to replace all four, but if you do 3, have the old one on the rear (assuming a normal front wheel drive car).

My local independent tyre shop charges £10 to take a tyre off the rim and fit the new one (also includes taking the tyre off the car and fitting it back on)

However if you were going to jump to much bigger alloys, ( i have 18" alloys but not on a corsa ) , then i had to drop my tyre wall to 35mm to get the original circumference the same. dropping 5mm on a tyre wall is the equivelant of having brand new tyres as opposed to legal limit tyres, (near enough anyway)

The tyre size is there for a reason, people who put these on cars they don't belong on is pretty foolish if you ask me.

That's correct, if you do go for a different size then inform your insurance.

Depends upon your area; my local place in South West Wales charges £5 per corner to fit and balance non-supplied tyres and £10 on top for tracking. They recently fitted 4 x 265x70x16 all terrain 4x4 tyres for me that required 180-200g of wheel weights and took at least 15-mins each to balance and still only charged me £20. They are a busy place but appreciate business that could always become more business in the future (i.e. MOT's, exhausts, brakes etc.)

Cheapest I can find locally to replace them are £230 per corner. When you have 4 tyres to replace that's alot of money in one go!

Try some vredestein ultrac sessanta - awesome tyres and had a very similar fittement on on my Audi S6 before i sold it. And they are £170 a corner.

Much better than many of the bigger brands. Review here

If your car is only moderatly powerful and you dont mind looking a bit like a tractor, these are not too bad either, even cheaper at £140 each

So essentially what's happened is you ordered the tyres, they got dispatched, you changed your mind and decided you want a refund. Camskill did nothing wrong but you still want them to pay for postage, so you've complained to trading standards?

^ Still cheaper than usual though? I have 205/45/17 on my MINI. The cheapest I could get them fitted locally was £110. They are under £80 on camskills at the moment. Its usually no more than £12 per corner for fitting own supplied tyres I think
  40. squillion's avatar
Plenty of smaller places would fit them for £5 a corner, balanced etc
