Had one of these for years. Useful when you need it and usually sat on a shelf covered in dust when you don't.

Mine sat on a shelf in my backroom for probably 2 years then the other day i had to check a 3.5 inch drive for certain reasons. Out it came, all plugged in, job done and back in the box again.

It's just one of those things that will be very very useful when you need it most.

Get a powered version though as 3.5 HDDs need the extra power.

To be honest you might as well go for this at half the price, does pretty much everything the Ugreen does, and has better reviews.

Or it's only 12 quid for the version with a power adapter for 3.5" drives.

Voted cold. Only £6.50 + p&p from Pi-Hut and designed to work with a Raspberrypi which implies the superior ASMedia chipset rather than this which is probably using a cheaper unspecified chipset.

Good price, but doesn't appear to accept a powered connection so 3.5" spinning disks not an option

I have a similar one, but with 2 x USB connectors. This is more useful in my experience when you dont necessarily know what computer you will connect it to. Some older computers (eg 2010 era) with old mechanical HDD's might not be able to deliver full power to spin up a HDD over a single USB 2.0 port. So, you'd need to connect 2 cables to 2 ports, irrespective of how much 1 cable could theoretically draw.
