sorted byThe only thing worse than that, is the fact you have an 8 year old son playing black ops.
You do realise children that age are the bane of everybody on XBL/PSN, that and the game is rated an 18 for a reason? Irresponsible parenting is ruining the nation. Teenagers aren't so bad, I can cope with them, but EIGHT? Come on.

It’s wonderful to finally see Microsoft catch up with the rest of the industry when it comes to handing out cheap games. They had to step up their game at some point to match the wonderful content Sony’s PlayStation Plus offers for free.
I haven’t been using my 360 so much recently thanks to the support from PlayStation, but there are a few elusive titles I wouldn’t mind picking up for cheap.
At any rate, we’ll see if this generous side of Microsoft rears its head again or if they will once again retreat into their stubbornly closed nature.
A reminder to those who don't know, you can buy GoD using MS Points by pressing X on the payment screen via the 360

I wouldn't expect the next Xbox to play Xbox 360 games. Change in architecture means it would only be possible if they made an emulator (very unlikely) or stuffed the Xbox 360 guts in there (again unlikely).
This doesn't mean Microsoft will come to your house and destroy your Xbox 360 though. These games will still work on it.
Why do Microsoft always seem to try to "hide" their sales? What is the point in having a sale if you are going to hide it and not advertise it?
If not for HUKD I would never know Microsoft ever had sales , as I have never seen a sale mentioned on the dashboard or on xbox.com
//Edit Just found it on dashboard after going through 3 menus of a barely noticeable specials button. They really need to put more effort into it.

I find your berating of his choice of media a little ridiculous too, to be honest.
I also agree that paying a little extra for a physical copy of a game is the better/safer option. I almost purchased SSX via XBLA when it was on offer a few days ago - instead I purchased a retail copy. I'm glad that I did as the game didn't hold my interest for more than a couple of hours - I sold it off on Amazon Marketplace and 'broke even'.
There's also the issues of download speeds & caps/HDD space when it comes to digital purchases - that and the fact that there's still no guarantee that you'll be able to transfer digital purchases across to the new Xbox. It's very likely that MS will expect to fleece you all over again for 'souped up' versions of games that you already own.
As for the condition of discs - what on Earth are you doing to get puke and scratches all over yours?

Actually Major Nelson is Director of Programming for Xbox Live so I reckon he probably knows what he's talking about....
These would download onto your Hard Drive, 360's can have various sizes of HD including none at all so it depends on what space you have as these games could be 5 or 6 GB each. If you're not sure go to the dashboard and across to the right and look up the storage devices to see how much space free there is.
Once downloaded the games would be tied to the console and the gamertag that downloaded them, so as long as you had the same console or the same gamertag you could keep playing them as long as they are still on your hard drive. You could probably find GRID or some of the other games almost as cheaply on discs now and not have to bother with signing your credit card up and searching through the complex dashboard. Be cautious and read all the info before you hit confirm purchase though.

If someone bought your suggested Rainbow six for a couple of quid more, they would make a maximum of £2 back selling it, after maybe a few months, so basically they are paying £2 more to get the same £2 back months in the future.
WHY? Why not just buy it for £2 less now huh?
Ridiculous mentality.

It's a difficult one as a parent. IMO it should be about your own values and the fact that "everyone else is doing it so why can't we?" should be irrelevant. However that's easier said than done if your child is the only one out of his whole group of friends who doesn't get to play the game.
It boils down to pragmatism, ultimately. You are the best judge of your child's character and level of maturity, not an arbitrary classification system. Don't get me wrong, the classification system has its place, it is appropriate on a societal scale but on an individual scale it's not necessarily the best way to form a judgement.
I have three kids, all of whom are too young for me to have to worry about this yet. My son is big into Mario Bros and I'm not going to discourage that - no doubt the day will come when he's hammering me on COD but I want to hold off on that as long as possible. I don't intend to force him to wait until he's 18 before allowing him to play this kind of game, but I will make sure of a few things:
that he is old enough and experienced enough to understand the difference between a game and reality
that I get to control his comms online, and if he doesn't like it, no game
that I get to control parental settings on the game to limit his exposure to the violence
that I get to dictate how long he gets to spend playing the game
that if I ever catch him behaving the way I hear other kids on Xbox Live behaving, it will be an instant ban - I will write to MS myself and ask them to block his tag.
If he can keep to those rules, it probably won't be a problem to allow him to play a game underage.

I bet paulsssss 8 year old kid thinks this is a good deal (_;)
Your Profile picture suits that comment so much ! lol
THAT CASINO LEVEL IS STILL ONE OF THE BEST MULTIPLAYER MAPS EVER

This.
I prefer disks end of.
Hmmm, I've read your posts a few times now, and you're right, I'm still having trouble understanding what you're trying to say.
I was simply picking up on the fact that you (rather aggressively) targeted one individual who said that he'd rather buy a game that he could then sell on - which resulted in your scouring of eBay listings to see if he was talking "BS". Obviously you do quite clearly "give a crap" when it comes to what you can get back for a game if you're going to those lengths.
The Xbox 720 (or whatever they decide on) will more than likely be non-bc when it comes to both disc AND digital games - either way, the point still stands that a physical copy of the game can be sold on now, or even years in the future.
(edited)
If you are looking to pay in points I would maybe hold off until they are confirmed as being at the right points price
Wilsh88, let me know if you'd like access to it to edit.
Game Sale Database!
Also, I was under the assumption that the 'daily deals' would only last 24 hours. Well, the Halo games are all still at deal prices!

Thanks for posting
Guys I don't mean to bring PC into an xbox thread, and I'm not looking to start a war or anything, this is just about L4D2. If you have a PC, even an older one, Left 4 Dead 2 goes on sale pretty regularly on Steam (at least a couple of times a year), and they recently added the Steam Workshop to it which means that there are now hundreds of mods, new maps, weapons, character mods and models etc, plus the online community on PC tend to be quite a good crowd for this game.
I've owned the game for a couple of years now, I sank 100 hours just playing the vanilla maps, and now that they added the Steam Workshop it has added a whole other layer of value, I've played it about another 25 hours just exploring new stuff, it's like having a whole new game again.
Source engine is so scale-able, it will run fine on older hardware, if you have a ge-force 8600 (as in the old cards from 2007 ish) or above and something like a core 2 duo I'd strongly advise you to get that game on PC, you will be getting a mountain of content and value, and it will only keep increasing as more people add things to the steam workshop.
Anyway, that's my soap box moment done, I understand this is an Xbox thread, I my xbox too, just thought that was worth saying.
What planet are you on? £45 for a download copy is extortionate.
I bet he ain't even a real major either......
I think I will end up doing the same. Whilst it is £8.99, with the amount I have been paying for points it will cost me just under £7. This is why the points shouldn't be scraped as it creates a bit more value in the xbox live games.
Please be like that in a few hours time...
I just want to say thank you to everyone here!
As a general rule, MK games are good to look at but SF games are good to actually play.
Haha exactly plus the missus will never find out
Depends where you click, some are updated on one page then click on another and its not.
Sometimes full price on search, click on game its new price... and vice versa
