I have a different brand of wire free house alarm and it’s been going strong on the same battery for around 6 to 7 years now without any problems, if you can find one i would recommend it.
sorry to say that it will not bring your insurance down unless it is connected to a phone and monitored by a security company then i think it will lower your insurance by around 25%, hope that helps

I have the Yale alarm - not this one but the pack that comes with the keypad communicator unit. The sensors are not bad - haven't had any false alarms.

If you get this you will probably need more sensors and door contacts...The Yale website has more information about the kit and an informative FAQ.

Voted Hot.
I saw these last week and have been considering buying one, but do i really need it?
Will it bring down the price of home insurance, or will it just attract people thinking we've got something worth nicking?
I'm not sure if an alarm system run purely on batteries is a good idea or not?
Perhaps others who may have this can give their opinion on it?

At one point B & Q were doing the sensors 3 for £20 and I'm sure they still had some about a month ago in my local...

This alarm kit is controlled by a key fob control - however surely i will need 1 for every member of the house to go in and out?
I'll have to look in B&Q and see how much additional key fobs are.

Have got a similar offer to this out of Focus, Yale are replacing with a newer version of the alarm so all older stock is being sold off, got the higher spec HSA 3400 model reduced from £200 to £40, this has a proper alarm keypad fixed to wall with LCD display, also had the next model up the 3200 both of which have 2 door contacts and 2 PIR sensors, just depends what stock each store has left i suppose. my box was a bit battered but all the bits were stil there

You can buy just a wireless keypad which you can add on. BUT check you can do this with this model on the Yale website.

This would be a better option than buying several keyfobs.

There are sometimes sellers of this kind of stuff on ebay as well.

3200 kit...which is the same is £79.99 at my B&Q...no 3000 kits around. (it only had 1xpir 1xcontact)

I still voted hot as it's a great offer and probably available in some areas.

Just went to my local B&Q to pick one of these up.

Dont know if it's the same everywhere else but the only offer they had was to buy the Alarm AND the Safe for £30. I only wanted the alarm for £15 so I didnt bother.

Darn it, been to 2 local stores and neither had stock - though one had a sel for the HSA 3200 @ £15 - but out of stock. All they had was the alarm/safe combi @ £30.
Another store only had the safes @ £15.
May try other stores tomorrow.

I have had one of these systems for 5 years. The alarm box stopped working about a year ago and I never replaced it. I have just bought 2 of the HSA3600 from Focus for £40 each and upgraded to cover my whole house and garage. Only problem is now I have 2 spare control panels left over which I might put on eBay.
Still worked out cheaper than buying all the components separately.

That is a bargain. I've have a Yale wireless alarm on my house for two years and have added in loads of extra keypads and sensors. The alarm's brains are in the wall box and you can add more of these as well. We have one front and back. The batteries on ours lasted two years before changing.

Check out Ebay for extra bits. You can usually get them cheaper than Homebase etc there.

Does anyone know what the differences are between the alarm with the safe and the one on its own for £15?

Well Done,
Still scanning at £15 in my local.
I still can't find these alarms on their own.

The alarm that comes in the combi pack, i'm sure is this one on Tesco Direct selling at a staggering £99.79 direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx
I saw them in my local Home Plus, but refused to price match B&Q :x

Just to point out that the Focus price for this is not a national one. It was priced at £129.99 in the Cramlington branch yesterday. I think it might just be the branches which are closing down (marked 'stock clearence store' on thier storefinder page) that have them for this price.
29. deleted57823's avatar
Nope!

Went down to another Newport branch and they had one left... scanned through at £15!

Very chuffed. Thanks very much!

Got one from Newbury shop. It's a combi one, "Yales Safe and Alarm Kits", originally £49.50 and now £30.00. They have one left.
31. deleted15870's avatar
B&Q at Queensbury (NW London) had quite a few of these left, as of this morning. I bought the safe / alarm combo for £30, and when you open the large box, the safe and the alarm kit are packaged separately. B&Q also had just the alarm kits on their own for £15.

The strange thing is that the £15 alarm kit contains exactly the same components as the £39.95 HSA3200 kit, which was right next to it! (The HSA3200 kit comes in a fancier retail box, but identical components).
