Apparently Sony are running an exchange program for faulty PSP and PS3s. Even if it's out of warranty [Edit: May not work if they ask and you remember buying it more than a year ago....], as long as the warranty sticker is intact (you haven't opened the case to fiddle with the insides) and you've got the battery and charger then they'll send out a refurbished one via parcelforce and pick up your dud one to take back. This is all free of charge (less the phone call). It's said this even covers broken screens.
I noticed this while surfing eBay and noticed lots of people selling this info for anywhere between a couple of quid and twenty. After digging around a bit I found this handy info from a concerned eBay member..... reviews.ebay.co.uk/PSP…687

Superb!However...it has a stuck red pixel and when on a white background there are 4 stuck blue in a line! Argh!Will they swap it out again for stuck Pixels or do you have to have a minimum number before they will swap it. Or should I accidentally have a different fault appear on it!Ta

i have a program that can release the pixels it went round when the psp first came out this may work or may not pm me your email address.

Above the deleted post fanpages quoted is the whole reason Why Honest people who have problems with their products cannot get them fixed due to people like you that cheat the system,

Also because you say you made up a serial number, That person who has that serial number will probably be unable to get their product fixed because you lied.

The way I read it is that the selling of the information is a rip-off, he is saying its information that shouldn't be sold and that people should ring sony themselves on the number.

I'm not convinced about this. But I'm happy to be proved wrong. If it's too good to be true, it generally is. There is nothing in it for Sony to send you a new/refurb machine out of warranty. If all companies did this, then they would soon go bust - buy a product and it lasts a lifetime? Hm. But like I said, if anyone has any success, I'll be happy as I have a PSP and a PS3.

Besides, they offer a paid subscription service called "Continuous Play", which is exactly what you are describing but not free. It doesn't add up. continuousplay.co.uk/

Just Rang the landline number for Sony and they will be exchanging my faulty PSP with a refurbished one on Monday. Excellent. Great Post.

i had a refurbished model sent to me next day after my psp went tits up a couple of months back. was free. they deliver the replacement and pick up the faulty at the same time to save time. was really impressed with the service. they asked for serial number etc so they could give me an exact model replacement too. voted as hot as i can. o btw it was 11 months into the year warranty.

Have edited post to reflect possible warranty problem. Thanks for the info Ace, did they ask for any supporting paperwork (proof of purchase etc?) or was it just the psp, charger and battery they wanted?

noi just the psp unit, nothing with it, no proof of purchase, just asked me on phone how long i had it, asked for serial number and a lil number near that which was the model number. so yea, hope that helps.

Hi guys anyway i just rang about my ps3 which is in warranty and somebody is gonna pick it up on monday .Just wanted to ask are the refurbs alright ? since they can't replace the 60 gig versions with new ones.

I cant find my receipt, although I am sure its still less than 12 months old. They asked for serial and model numbers. I told them I had lost receipt and he just asked which month i had bought it in.

it doesn't matter if you have had it longer than 12 months, just give them a date that is within 12 months and that fine. I've tired it.
