I bought the Henry HVR200-22 Vacuum Cleaner from Makro today. I had been looking for a vacuum cleaner and this is the cheapest I had seen.

This vacuum cleaner has an excellent reputation and excellent reviews (see Amazon.co.uk, Moneysavingexpert or any internet review) and it is the commercial version. It's supposed to last a very long time too.

Comes complete with 5 vacuum bags and attachments.

Spec:
1200W
Commercial grade triple stage filtration
9 litre dust capacity
Stainless steel extension tubes
10m cable storage and rewind system

It also has a 2-year warranty.

*ONLY FOR MAKRO CARDHOLDERS*

I was in makro a couple of weeks ago and saw this and the George (i think) that is a wet and dry hoover was about £150.

Yes, the "George" is a multifunction vacuum cleaner. George was on offer for £152.74 (£129.99 excluding VAT), RRP £199.99.

"Charles" (wet and dry vacuum cleaner) was also on offer for £105.74 (£89.99 excluding VAT), RRP £129.99.

They seem to use Henry vacuums in hotels a lot, so I imagine they must be good? Personally, I prefer Dyson, but this is a good deal, so heat added,

One thing I could never understand is, why do Makro make us go through this nonsense of acquiring a "Trade card" when a lot of their prices are actually WORSE than, for example, Tesco's?

I've got the George and it's fantastic. Amazing as a hoover and carpet cleaner. Instructions are pictures which seem really difficult but in fact it's really easy. I'd definately buy this again if it breaks.

They are used commercially a lot because they are tough as nails and can take a hell of a lot of abuse and beating. The lack of a brush-beater in the cleaning head means that they might not be so good on domestic carpets as they would be on the short-pile hardwearing carpets in commercial premises.

:- We have just purchased our second Henry - the first one lasted over 15 years - bought a Hoover which was useless bits kept falling of it and the suction went on it after two months use - so we are back with Henry and glad to have it
You just cannot wear them out

This is a great deal - pity - it's two weeks too late for me

Voted hot - loving our Henry better than the Dyson we had IMHO

How does Henry cope with dogs hair? We just got another collie and in need of a replacement for the Dyson.

I'm not sure about this. It's best to check the internet for impartial reviews (such as Moneysavingexpert.com).

This offer has now been extended to 7th October. It's also been reduced to £79.88 inc. VAT
    (67.99 excluding VAT).

Also available are Numatic "Henry" vacuum bags, 10 pack £4.99 OR buy 2 packs for £7.00, as stated in the latest issue of the Makromail magazine. I would assume that VAT must be added to the above price (not mentioned in the magazine).
