Fantastic news that the Nintendo Switch launches early on the 3rd of March at £279.99

Even better that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be a launch title which was the the most important thing Nintendo needed at launch.

Super Mario Odyssey coming holiday 2017 which seemed to me a little bit of a let down when it comes to date and gameplay footage.

Battery life between 2 and a half and 6 hours depending on games.

No details on specs and performance but I guess they are wanting to keep that quiet and focus on the positives.

Splatoon 2 confirmed for Summer 2017.

Weird fighting game Arms showcasing the Joy-Cons confirmed for Spring.

Bethesda finally confirmed Skyrim will be coming to the Switch.

I am half asleep so sorry if I missed anything! What is everyone's opinion?

WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE TO MARIO!

its like Sonic adventure..

Well what a disappointment ive woken up too.

Over priced.. by at least £30.00, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Sega Edition..

I was so excited for this console, they have had about 3 years since they announced something in the works, and no games are ready again!

Well they lost a preorder on me, there is nothing making me want one...

Mario is from the real world, so why does he look like he is out of place?

Thanks for the update, just checked and yes it will be £279.99. I guess the the rumours were saying between £250 and £300 so doesn't come as too much of a surprise but would have preferred £250.

I'm quite tempted to buy Skyrim again... for the 3rd time! lol. Would love to have a portable version. Got the PS4 remastered for Christmas and haven't even had a chance to open it. I need to resist it!

That's the plan! At this rate I may be better off selling the PS4 version and get it for the Switch as I won't have the time or patience to re-play it on two platforms with separate save files

I am wondering though will the Switch version of certain games be limited in content. For example EA gave a presentation about a Fifa Switch game and I got the impression it wasn't going to be like the standard version available. I wonder with the size of a Skyrim game would the Switch version come with all the content or edited down to make it more compact for the Switch.

£279 is more than I want to pay halfway through a gen, but when I saw $299 I was thinking the worst... It's twenty quid back in my pocket I suppose, but when you factor in the online sub price you're probably at £300+, then you've got to get a game.

Nice to see bomberman back though.

Good point! May just need to hold onto it a little bit longer until we know for sure. If they do edit it down then I hope the price doesn't end up being in full.

I'm guessing it'll be simplified to allow for the limited buttons on the joycons. For the two players on one screen thing... I hope it's the return of FIFA Street...

How does people feel about having to pay for Online? I'm not liking that. Not even liking it on my PS4.

“With Nintendo Switch, you will of course be able to enjoy online multiplayer gaming,” Kimishima said. “And when you use a smart device application that will connect to Nintendo Switch, you will be able to invite friends to play online, set play appointments and chat with friends while enjoying online matches in compatible games, all from your smart device.

“Users will be able to try out Nintendo Switch online services for free during a trial period after launch. Then it will become a paid service beginning in the fall of 2017. We will provide additional details on this paid service and its features on our home page at a later date.”

One good thing about Nintendo is they release their games finished not needing updates and day one patches but I do worry about third party games being rushed out then what follows when they need fixed eating into the storage.

On the one hand; if we want more than the current bare bones service, then it needs to be paid for... On the other; between PSN, Live and this something has to give. All of a sudden I'm looking at £100 a year in subscription fees...

Depends on what they do with the 'monthly game' and whether we get to keep that forever. Also interested in the SNES/NES games part...

Depends how much it will cost, how well it runs etc. So many questions that I'm sure we will get answers to in coming days.

I was hoping for cheaper, but I guess the £279.99 was to be expected sadly. The cost of the accessories hurts as well. Ouch.

Wait hold up.. you need to use a smart device to invite people and chat with them? It isn't possible on the console itself? :|

Cool that the online services will be free until Autumn but it does all add up when you already have Xbox, PlayStation and EA subscriptions on the go. If you could get a Zelda bundle for 280 quid that would be good and not to mention the decent controller that comes separately that I can imagine most people would prefer.

It'll need some significant changes before it's worth paying for. The service as it stands is ass backwards. I want carry over purchases, an accessable friends system, game chat. A SNES and a NES game every month isn't going to cut it. You know it'll be Balloon Fight and stuff like that. Why give us Super Mario World when they know damn well we'll pay for it?

The added online components are interesting, but I can't off hand think of a single SNES game I'd play multiplayer in 2017. F-Zero maybe? That will be much more interesting on N64 and up... Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Beach Spikers and maybe/perhaps/possibly/wecandream GoldenEye.

I agree! I really like the look of that pro controller and also feel you'd need another couple of Joy-Con controllers to have enough for gatherings. The prices are insane though if you add up what that would cost extra...

Think I'm in the same boat. Not fussed about Zelda. Played MK8. Nothing for me until Mario at Xmas... As much as I liked Splatoon, a sequel isn't a system seller to me.

If we'd have gotten the rumoured system and Splatoon 1.5 @ £250 I'd be in, no question. But:
£279
no game
subscription fee
£50 for a pro controller

... I'll wait.

I think that's a load of gumpf.

Fact is theres nothing to play online. Zelda? They can't charge you to play a Mario Kart game you can play for free on the U.

No, they'll wait until Splatoon 2 is out, give you 4-6 weeks on it free, then shove it behind a paywall.

Just who is the target market for this?

Nintendo really love their gimmicks...

After the Wii and Wii u I can't bring myself to purchase another Nintendo console. Given the instant success of Mario run on mobile however, I can't see it being long until they accept that releasing their IP on other formats is the most lucrative option.

I doubt it. They're pretty on the ball with security. I mean, they've only just got bootloader access on the 3DS without a hardmod.
