Is it just me who thinks £609 is ridiculously expensive for a tablet that will be out of date in a couple of years?
No different to a smartphone.
No it's worse - talk2go does not work on IPads...

Does the pro iPad what is the tech last for how long
It does tech last for you for pro long iPad ;-)
I can't see it so I assume some zealous mod (hoping to appease Herr Admin Flick), has removed it for some obscure reason so here's another link...

If you're worried about memory, it can be expanded...

Show me any Apple hardware that is out of date in 2 years? In fact Apple has better longevity than any of its competitors, holds its value better too.
Don't Apple use Intel chips, the ones designed for Windows machines?
Apple design their own processors for the ipad/iphone
Apple use British ARM chips in the iPad and iPhone. They make minor modifications to the chip design. ARM being an acronym for Acorn RISC Machines - who used to make the BBC, Electron and Archimedes. Sadly British owned & based ARM was recently sold to a Japanese company.

Actually, you're both sort of right. ARM design the instruction set which they license to Apple just like they license it to Samsung and a bunch of other chip makers. Apple designs their own chip that uses that instruction set though.

Think of it like how Intel and AMD both use the x86 and x64/x86-64. AMD license x86 from Intel and Intel license x64/x86-64 from AMD but they then both design their own chips that implement those instruction sets.

not in the same league. I'd avoid. you can get the same from a bog standard stylus. the apple stylus is probably the best ever made. this is coming from an artist as oppose to an apple fan. but then again this ain't nowhere near the price

For an ipad maybe. but those who have the wacom digitizer such as the note series and the surface pros are better .
m1kedutt5
does this only work with select apps?

Looking at reviews they mention you need a Creative Cloud account to use it, even to use it "offline" whatever that means for a pen.

Or you can buy a Grade A iPad Pro 9.7 32GB Wifi + Cellular (EE) from CEX for the same price (£430)
Aren't 2nd hand items supposed to be cheaper anyway?

Grade A has always been New for me. I bought a Grade A iPad Pro 9.7 32GB Wifi + Cellular (Unlocked) for £460 last week. It was spotless and unused with the charger and cable still in original packaging. Grade A has always been New or New (Other) for me. The extra £30 seems like a no-brainer in my opinion and was cheaper than fleabay.

(Source: Personal experience trying to sell to CEX, I took the wrapper off a phone I was trying to sell and this made it grade B.)

Dreadful deal.
I've a 32GB ipad which I bought for £220 about 4 years ago. Admittedly not 4G but it's just so underpowered compared to my LG G4 now. I'd say it's worth around the £100 mark.
Probably better going for something that is still supported like the Air1/2 IMO, personally I think the iPad 4 was lucky to get support and suspect that will go next cycle with all other 32bit based devices.
The iPad 3 is and was a great iPad but Apple have totally ruined it with the new updates - part of their planned obsolescence that they deny. For what the OP said it will be fine but even my work Air 1st gen feels seriously slow compared to the Air 2 and Pro I have at home. The iPad 4 is noticeably quicker but probably not worth the extra £40. You can get a good used Air 1 for around £200 at the moment and that has the A7 processor not the A6X (iPad 4) or A5X (iPad 3).
I wish I could sell my iPad 3 32gb for anything like this much money. You get offered £60 if you're lucky so they must be making a mint on this :(

Got the same call, the telemarketer guy spoke very aggressively and quickly, I had to get him to explain who he was and what he wanted several times. Hane now removed myself from all the mailing preferences on the online account. They also automatically sign you up to their 'sister company' mailouts - a bit cheeky to say the least.

I've seen the keyboard to go with this. Can someone recommend a mouse to use with the iPad pro computer? Does it use Bluetooth or usb3 for connecting a mouse?
Uhm, it isn't a computer. It's just a tablet; you can use a keyboard but not a mouse - not that I understand the point of it anyway.
In fact, I don't really see the point in having a keyboard; the on screen one suits me perfectly fine.

I didn't mean to like this but never mind! I am in fact typing this from the iPad Pro keyboard. I thought like you. Then I did some research. I bought the Pencil and PDF expert and Notability. I am currently performing a literature review, and being able to annotate PDFs and writing notes simultaneously using the Pencil is amazing for work efficiency. I have just got the keyboard, and as a result, can now do 90% of my written work on the iPad Pro. The only slight annoyance is that you can't have two of the same application in split screen mode. I don't like that on iOS you can't use a mouse like on android but with the Pencil I haven't really missed it as most apps on iOS are really well designed.

Step by step guide for this deal
- - -
1) Follow the get deal button, purchase the £49.99 + £40*24 tariff.
2) Receive your brand new phone and sim card.
3) Put the sim card into your phone and go onto myO2 (app or website) and from there request the unlock code.
4) Call 202 from the same sim card as it will make things much easier, go straight to the I want to leave o2 department or something like that (I think it's thinking of leaving us? Press something) as that will connect you with the right people much quicker.
5) Tell the person you want to pay your device in full and cancel the airtime. They will ask you why, tell them you don't think the airtime is a good value for money, but you want to keep the phone because you think it's an outstanding value for money. They will ask you for card details, you tell those details and that's it, they cancel it for you in about an hour.
6) You own the phone from that point, assumed that you have done this straightaway, there won't be any charges, otherwise you will have to pay as much airtime as you have used.
7) Unlock code will come through in about 2 to 48 hours.8) In first month they might take the airtime from your bank account through direct debit because they generate the bill the next day you apply for a contract, don't be scared as this will be refunded the next month, if not, call them again.

Thank you mate :)

I'd rather get a windows tablet for this type of money..
I'd only say get this, either because you can't use android or windows or you desperately need to use a particular app. otherwise - WHY...
There is only a small volume of decent touch focused software for Windows which is why iOS still leads significantly in turns of apps even though it's a more limited O/S.
Ultimately an O/S with limited apps is a risky purchase unless you have limited requirements and can live with the scarcity of apps. The same is true of WP10, the O/S seems to be shaping up but the app shortfall is just too restrictive for many.

in terms of touch apps, you are quite right but when you are spending £600 on tablet you would idealy want to play with a full os with proper programs.. not dinky toys

Sad to see this offer being down voted just because it is an apple product. As a price for this product it is great, but the 3yr JL warranty makes it even sweeter.
The whole point of this site is to alert users to whatever product they are after at the best possible price. The OP did just that for me and I am very happy with my purchase.
I considered a Surface, but didn't want a disguised laptop running windows, I wanted the apple apps. The fact that the iPhone 7 has a faster processor is irrelevant, I don't need a phone right now and watching TV in bed on a phone is not the same experience.
To everyone who voted this down based on any reason except the price of this product at JL compared to any other store in the UK your contribution was not required.
So your contribution is to criticise other people's contribution. Nice!
Sometimes on this site, people offer their views on alternative, more suitable products. I for one, sometimes appreciate those opinions.
It's great that you've saved some money on buying an iPad that you wanted. That's the main reason HUKD exists. Just don't take it personally If people don't agree with your sense of value on a particular product.

The reality is you need luck to get hot Apple deals android fans vote them down. Doesn't help the site encourages Apple android divide as in the mods hit post this week.

The site works on is it a deal can you get it cheaper else where no then it's a hot deal no then vote cold. Stupidly voting cold like this only harms the site as we saw fir so long no deals for certain products posted for a long time. Many have tried in the feedback section to find ways of stopping this but as I said with mods encouraging it's not going to happen.

make sure it has a "may explode" logo on, to be assured it will pair well with ur S7

Do you Apple lot (I use both), ever consider that your childish fanboyism may upset the rest of your own community because they're sad their tarred with the same brush as people like you?

I suspect this charging pad at this price is fake though, I would go via Argos, Handtec, or one of the other big companies.

Says genuine in the description and has Samsung on it? Would this definitely be fake and not just the older model? Has anyone got an recommendations for a good price/place to get an official one?

609 clubcard points. Free click and collect. Apple have just increased iPad Pro prices, this model is now £729 on the Apple website. All iPad Pros are much cheaper at Tescos.

The cold votes are a bit too harsh. If someone is in the market for a iPad Pro, this price will be hard to beat for some time.

Fair play kgreel.
I was wrong in thinking the US/$ price changes would be reflected here in GBP.
I'm sorry.
No need to apologise. Prices have fallen in the USA, but risen here.
These have 100% gone up. I paid £759.60 for the iPad Pro 128GB with free beats worth £127 using student discount. The same iPad with nothing free and discount is now £777.60! Get from Tesco quick!
Thanks OP. Ordered!

Elephant in the room regarding the 16GB limitation is apps like BBC iPlayer and Amazon Video that let you download episodes and movies for travel. But before anyone assumes the an Android tablet with memory slot is the solution, I think even in latest Android versions, they still only allow media like this to go into the Internal memory and hacks without rooting will fail. Probably due to fears about digital rights.

I had a minimum payment this month as well for £3.99 but that was just because the postage isn't included in BNPL so you have to clear that separately. You guys sure it isn't that?

Anyone having problems with Very? Can't say I wasn't warned but I queried why I had a minimum payment this month and they said I hadn't bought the iPad on BNPL - I know I did as it's the only reason I bought from them, anyway they changed it to BNPL but are saying the can't apply the £100 cash back as it can only be claimed at the point of sale...I have to phone their accounts department later

That's exactly what they said to me, am fuming. I thought this might happen so didn't open the iPad, am sending this right back

anyone who already knows how to program (or much about technology / value for money) will have an Android. that's why this isn't on the Play store.
I have been a professional systems developer for 25 years and I have had an iphone since they came out.
Of my programming team 6 have androids and 5 have iphones.
The higher paid developers have iphones.
Tried android once and hated it.
you tried an OS once (probably version 1), then decided it's never worth using? you must be a terrible developer then.

I went from an iphone 3gs to a Samsung S3 running whatever version of android was about at that time. Used it for about a year with and without Samsungs appalling Touch Whizz interface.

A value judgement about my skills as a developer would be wrong for me to make as I am obviously biased.
However, I am currently the highest paid developer in my organisation which employs several hundred technical staff and also in charge of a small team there.

Depends what you want it for. The pro isn't meant for gaming for example. Also you're paying the premium for the storage space. The air 2 is cheaper yes, but with a much less 16gb storage.

Anyone found a decent deal on the Pencil? I'm looking at JL at the mo due to the 2yr warranty
The iPad Pro is what the iPad should have always been. This is an okay price, heat from me.

“I think if you’re looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?”

It is NOT a PC/Mac. It's an iPad that's faster, sounds better, and has the functionality to use the really good "pencil".

That in itself will warrant a higher price tag.

I personally would get a Surface Pro 4 though at anything over £500.
It's a good price undoubtedly but who else is fed up of Apple's 'planned obsolescence' dressed up with marketing (e.g. bricking perfectly good ipad 2/3/4/Airs with rubbish iOS updates that add nothing other than slow things down to the point of frustration with no way to revert)? I use an iPad regularly but I can't be the only one who is sick of spending a fortune on Apple products to be dictated to what I can and can't run - and there are good and cheaper alternatives out there, for example Sony Z3 Tablet Compact, Z4, Samsung Tab S2.
Can you get Showbox on these?, If so, link much appreciated...

Masteryates - How about reading the specs before guessing. iPad mini 2 has 1gb memory, iPad mini 1 has 512. DO NOT BUY A 1 they are painfully slow.
my daughter has a mini 2 and it is fine but my other daughter has a mini one and nothing wrong with it at all and is not slow either as it also has apple support yet.
Not sure how apple support can make it go faster but anyway. ok it's your daughters have you actually spent anytime on it and compared to a newer Ipad believe me when I say you would give up after 5 mins.
i have used the mini one and it is fairly quick but then it is only 1 month old got brand new (cheap for 6 yr),then i have the mini 2 retina which is my other daughters (who is 4 and again got cheap second hand for £50) and my son 13 has ipad air 1 wifi and 4g (got new last year for £190) and my ipad air 2 wifi and 4g (new last month for £200) and my sons ipad air is slower probably because of all the apps.but the mini is fairly nippy still but is hardly anything on it except 2 apps my wee girl likes.

Have you installed all the updates? if you have fair enough, obviously fine for your/her needs. If like me you want to use it as your main tablet and use it daily then it's not for you. iPad mini 2 should be fine with the 1gb.

Why the cold votes?
Can anyone advise where you can buy an apple mini 2 for a cheaper price in August 2016?
The only good advice is don't buy an apple mini 2 in August 2016, a mere two and a half weeks before they're widely expected to announce the new model.
ipad mini will only drop about 20 quid but it will be a month or 2 before that happens after announcement but it will hit the second hand market better dropping the price by around 30-50 pounds off what it is now
dougal868
Well thanks for the usual HUKD love! Never sure why people feel the need to vote cold and leave daft comments - if it's not for you and you don't like it, fine, move on - do you really need to do more than that?

As it happens, I'm fully aware that this isn't the best ipad, it won't be good enough for everyone, and that's obviously fine. But I found it looking for one for my 11 year old daughter and it will suit her fine - it's the BEST price I have found (after a while of searching) for THIS particular ipad - it's a good deal if that's what you need and may be useful to someone in the same situation as myself.

I rarely come on this site these days because of exactly this, you think you find something that could be useful to others then you get shouted down because a few people think it's crap just because it's not suitable for EXACTLY what they want, never mind that it might help anyone else.

I give up.
i voted hot as it is fairly reasonable priced and also it is around £149 second hand,so for £50 more it is brand new and you do not have anyones elses problems like with a second hand one might have.i personally prefer brand new unless i know the history of an ipad from new.

Any idea what the grip is like on this? I see rubber on the front part but is the back part just plastic? That sounds slippy if so
Hi
There are no rubber pads on the back part.
I find the item does not slip due to the weight of the device adding to the stability.
Of course it will move if you push but this would happen even with rubber pads on rear section.
I have a iPhone metal stand with 4 rubber pads its very stable but moves on a wooden table.
Are you concerned it may topple over?
Nah its just the sliding I was worried about. I'm after it for an 8 inch tablet when using on trains

Should be fine with no case, fantastic product infinite viewing angle weight of tablet should prevent any movement on a train.
Non slip mats for cars are available - if there was an issue if you type 'non slip car dashboard mat' into amazon
a small mat would fit in a case - dont think you'll need it though
cheers
hope this helps

Having had a look it seems very will credit you £100 by October provided you don't cancel but then there's no guarantee you will get it and by then it's too late to cancel. Also I would have thought the new customer 10% off won't stack with £100 pound off £450 as it brings the cost of the 32gb pro below £450 but if might be good if you buy a higher spec model. The lack of confirmation would put me off, the Tesco deal seems less hassle and no need to open credit accounts.
