I tried the checkn0w.co.uk thing with Aberdeen, and it gave me a list of every store from Wick down to Plymouth, saying it was out of stock in all of them.
Time to expire?
PS. Why does the proper name of that Website get automatically censored here?

This really does show the idiocy of voting on this website! We've got a so-called 'hot' deal with absolutely no stock.

I assume '****' will be a referral site and will get any click-through payments rather than HUKD. (Look, they did it to me again!)

I thought there would be stock up north but didn't know anything about the checking website. Not my fault.

Do people still use these...? Just buy a cheap Android tablet and put some films on a Micro SD. No bulky device, battery packs, cables and discs. They also have games once there bored of films. Simple.

Android tablet - £60 - micro sd card £15... Downloading films to a pc only to find theyre poor quality - 2 hours...

Uploading to an sd card... 'Format not recognised...' Ahhhhh!

I like 'retro' dvd's - i like having them all lined up on a bookshelf in our snug and actually having the kids choose a film rather than a file on a memory card... It's kinda cool and takes you back to blockbuster video's days!

And call me a geek - but my kids also spend more time on pacman and sonic the hedgehog than they do playing their xbox one... Thats because theyre super cool!

2 hours to download a film.. wow! You do live a "retro" life

Takes minutes these days, micro sds are not £15 (there less) and 99.9% of video formats are recognised on Android devices, no need to convert

My kids have about 100 movies on DVD. Why go to the bother of buying a "cheap android tablet" and faffing about with SD cards/downloading movies when I can just buy this and grab a couple of DVDs for a car journey?

"Hey Dad can we watch the Lego movie in the car?"
"Yeah - let me just turn on the laptop, search for a torrent, download it, convert it then load it onto an sd card and we're good to go!"
"Never mind Dad..."

A couple of key things I learned from the previous thread that you may find useful.
- According to one user it doesn't support mp4 playback from disc (only USB).
- There is no audio output.
Respect for including this item's limitations, alhough it may be more accurate to say "no dedicated audio output" rather than imply that the item's HDMI carries no audio!

Have done, thanks

oh no, what will you do with no optical out.
I take it you have no idea what a optical out connection is for as its a very commonly asked question on bluray players,if you want the best quality connection to a surround system.

Optical output is limited to 5.1 though so it's not always the best for audio. HDMI allows 7.1 or even the new DTS:X, Dolby Atmosphere and Aura 3D.

So optical out if you need it but certainly not the best quality of you don't.
hahahahahahaha, I like your reply to that.

use the optical out on your tv. ffs some people are hard work.
Deals deals deals deals coming out HUKD figurative ears. If I didn't already have the 370 model I'd have snapped this up. Panasonic might have taken a battering passing most of their TV's off to Turkey but I do believe their blu-ray players are still top notch. So buy this for your Sony TV. :3

Got mine yesterday, seems to be pretty good. Easy (if not poor looking) menus. Need to run a few DVDs to check the up scaling quality.
Much louder disc noises than the old one.

Doesn't turn on automatically with the TV but all other CEC controls seem to work. Doesn't appear to have any viera link options on the box and the options are all enabled on my TV.

Guess I'll have to get round to setting up that logitech remote I was going to put on ebay.
Do people still burn video files to disc? I would have thought USB playback would be more desirable.
Disc is still the most cost-effective way of distributing small amounts of physical media to contacts, especially to those who may be technology-light. Even my gran can play a bluray / DVD, and she can easily read what is scribbled on the disc. I politely gave-up trying to explain how to watch a video on TV from USB. Plus it's cheap to shift a disc in the post.

That's just the upscalling I assume, I've never heard of 1080i only Blu-Ray

Just an update. The DVD player came with a small amount of battery charge and a note saying they charged it a little bit so u can get watching straight away. When I turned it on it came on and said insert disc it then said loading for around 4-5 minutes before saying "no disc" I knew the disc was working but tried another anyway and same again. I now have charged the DVD player and when I plugged it in its working - does anyone know if this will break on me again or did it just need more charge?? I'm not very technical! Thanks X

Then your local Tesco staff are either morons or liars.
This may not be in every store but Tesco routinely sell stock off at 75% reduction. I bought 2 Samsung E8500s a couple of years ago. Guess what, for £25.

Just been into our local Tesco to get a goose for tomorrows family dinner as they were advertised at 16p on wwwwwww, com and the freezer was full of Samsung £25 pound dvd players. Its a good buy at £71.00. That's more of a deal than the post to be honest as at least the £71.00 price is available to all and not just a one off deal through a mis-price. This was the top bluray player to buy a year ago when it was £129.99.
£71 is a better deal than £25? Okay!
Go and waste some time and fuel tomorrow looking in all of your local Tescos and report back. If you get one post your receipt and I will agree with you and retract my statement. If you don't get one, like hundreds of others having a peek when they do their weekly food shop then my post stands. It's a mis-price found in one store, possibly a re-boxed display model sold off cheap. Like with most of these Tesco 'one offs' there maybe just one for sale. £71.00 is still a good price for what was one of the best bluray players of 2015.
I will await your posting of receipt for a £25.00 bargain with baited breath but everyone who visits Tescos tomorrow will check and all or nearly all will be disappointed.
Why would I want to go and waste my time and fuel when I've already got my deal you fool! If £71 is a good deal then I've got an amazing deal for £25! You're obviously not a "Smartguy".

Then prove it and upload your receipt or are you NOT smart enough to do it and as nobody else has managed to get one proves that it isn't really a deal at all. A smart person would have taken a DECENT picture of the item with receipt clearly visible

Just for the record going and wasting time and fuel tomorrow didn't particularly refer to yourself but more to everyone else in the uk who know doubt have read your post, been to Tesco's especially today to pick up a £25.00 bargain and all have returned home disappointed. Some having posted their findings confirming my original post.

'but you need to reduce screen resolution using free sofware freemake'.... won't that take time to do say on a 1.2 GB film what screen screen should it reduce too.... thanks

A couple of cheap tablets would probably be a better option.
Interested to know how would you link two headrest mounted tablets together to show the same movie.....?
Would that actually work out cheaper than this deal?
Why would you want to do that for?
Well actually my kids do want to watch what the other is always watching.... :)
I have the Nextbase Click and Go 9 Deluxe system which gives them the flexibility to watch the same or different things and only then takes ups one 12v power outlet with official crash tested stancion mounts.
I've never yet seen a crash tested tablet mount for a car.
Each to their own anyway - I personally think this is a good deal if a twin screen system is what you are looking for.

I think the advantage of the kids being able to watch their choice of item and also play any games installed would work better for a journey. I'm not aware of many kids that would happily settle with the same decision for what to watch.

Add a couple of cheap sets of headphones and you can get 2 happy kids able to pick what they do for the journey and giving you peace and quiet. Additionally, rather than being mounted like a DVD player you wouldn't have them as obviously on show and much easier to take out the car afterwards.

Nope, these don't have hard drives in them.
You'd be better off with a cheapo tablet and a big microSD card in it, surely?
The resolution on this is awful. 480 x 234. Battery life is pretty bad too.
How do i get the films off the dvd's onto the cards?
There are dozens of tools for doing that. Handbrake for one. Or download them, which will be quicker.
I get what your saying, and totally respect your opinion, and i know many people will agree totally with you i'm sure.
That said however I do think you are missing the point of the listing somewhat.
If your starting a collection up from scratch then the tablet and downloading makes great sense, but for someone who has a big collection of dvd's and just wants a cheap and easy way to let their kids watch them, then surely a little dvd player makes more sense.
As for resolution do kids really notice that much?
It's low spec, but it doesnt need to be more on a childs dvd player ( I mean I grew up watching a little 14inch telly but I have fond memories of the great things I watched).
It is fit for purpose and has good reviews, and if you have a huge pile of dvd's that you would like a child to be able to access I think it is a great little gift.
Each to their own..... I'm old hat when it comes to tech, i don't need the latest, this, that, and the other.
If it does the job, on budget, im happy.
For £40 all in..... job done
but I totally respect that others will feel differently.... its just my opinion :)

This is a great price for a kids DVD. The resolution is the standard res for a DVD player. The form factor is quite small and with the included accessories, it's a bargain. Ordered and heat!

If that's the standard res, why is it the standard res? DVDs are 720x576. You're losing a lot of definition.

No idea. All the kids' players I'va had have been that res. Weird, guess the screen size plays a part as they think they can get away with lower res.

do you need to have a smart tv to make this compatible or does it convert ur tv to a smart tv just like a firestick etc??
You don't need a smart TV, it is all in the BR so you just need to connect the BR player to your home broadband via wireless.
Although you'll need an additional Wi-Fi dongle to connect it via wireless. Either that or use the Ethernet port.

For region free DVD.
1. Turn on power
2. Open tray
3. Click on home button
4. While in home, tap the following numbers: 1389310
You're done, but check to make sure it is region free. Still while in home, tap 8520. You'll see information appear.
If you have a 0 after DVD, you're done. If player needs repairs, put in back in your zone by repeating steps 1-4. On the number in step 4,
change the zero by your zone number

OP .. your Deal?, or a cheap Playstation 3? (for just shy of a handful of £5's on top of your Deal?), hehehehe. :-)

Both X)
No stock in Hull. Typical Argos and Currys great deal with no stock anywhere. The one and two star reviews on Argos make for interesting reading and there are a lot for the BP325.

I would jump at this if it has wifi.
I don't see wifi anywhere in the description though. :(
in stock in Sale. thanks op
Picked this up today. First impressions are that it looks rather cheap and nasty. However, it boots up quickly and comes with a decent remote.
Anyone looking for a Bluray there are still 30% off certain Amazon Warehouse deals, there is still a Sony BDP-S3500 available for £41.40, Sony players are better reviewed than Samsung ones..

I have ordered goods from Amazon warehouse before with no problem, many have been as new, you still get their 12 months warranty, just check the package is complete before ordering.

This doesn't play MKV Files so thats a no no ! Better of buying the Panasonic one thats £50 at the moment and forget the 3D and get one that plays all the Video formats.

Not according to the official specs on the samsung site. Says it does. I have the 6500 version snd that certainly plays them, in fact it plays everything i throw at it, same for all the other samsung products i have used over the years.

Just what do people want for a barely a day's work, at legal min?
If wifi is that important, it is easy enough to do a connection share with a laptop.

As a comparison, CyberlinkpowerDVD on it's own costs at least as much.
