Better off buying a amazon fire tablet and downloading a few films off netflix for your kid

I bought my daughters the Disney princess lexibook DVD players about six years ago and they are still going strong (they hate the colour and design now but suffer it!!) Just ordered for my son, thanks.

I got these for £15 in Asda sale last year, they are fab for kids

Good price but DVDs are dangerous to handle for small children. Sharp pladtic edges can hurt .

Not even HD.

Brought two refurbished unit at this price, just for running movies in the kids bedrooms. They work fine. So good deal for new units.

Very nice indeed

Depends on the player to be honest. The ps1 believe it or not is regarded as a brilliant player. No idea what this one is like.

Old junk. Don't waste your money . Does not even have HDMI 1.4 . Forget anything else. None of my TVs have scary Scart anymore

True - plus if you watch lots of classic old B&W films (like me) High Def is overkill. Heat from me.

A lot of people don’t have that much money to spend or that much space to have a big tv so this is one of the best alternatives out there with a built in DVD player and netflix options. Can’t blame a guy for trying (angel) :(

Will go freezing as 720p......

Not a lot of TV for a lot of money

Great small tv for the kitchen. In white or black
Get dealGet deal

Yes, absolutely, most TVs start at 32" these days, smaller sets are the exception. To be fair LCDs are so thin these days you can fit them in a lot of places you couldn't imagine having a TV before. Freezing deal though, JVC is nothing more than a Vestel budget set and 720P is very poor these days, 1080P should be the minimum and why only DVD when Bluray has been around well over a decade? Nothing against unbranded sets mind, my main TV and bedroom sets are both Vestels and work absolutely great but I got them extremely cheap as a result, here you are paying almost big name prices for a no name set....

Was on offer before xmas, i got one for the daughter November for the same price

Seems like they will wack anything on a 32" TV these days before just making them full HD!!!! Does my head in... I don't want a gigantic TV dominating the livingroom, just a 32", Full HD, good sound.... you know... like you could buy 5 years ago. (poo) (poo) (poo)

Can be useful for camping or something like that.

We use one whilst away on the caravan. Stick a bunch of dvds in a carry case and keeps the little ones busy. Tablets are great for streaming, when there is WiFi, but if you haven't saved a bunch of stuff on them.....which fills up in no time on a memory stick, then these are ideal. The

I've actaully been thinking about buying one of these for my 4 year old for car journeys. So much easier to take along and no need to worry about whether you have downloaded the film from Netflix or that. He has a tablet that he used but this would be easier.

I defy anybody to tell the difference in their living room having not calibrated the screen.

Very true. Hence why I said "based on needs, setup and sensitivity to such issues".

I agree with this but would people be able to tell the difference unless the pictures were side by side? And furthermore would they necessarily prefer the correctly colour decoded picture? And how many people have a display that is correctly set up for colour?

Never paid over 20 for a disk.

Did see someone on eBay selling a 4-track the other day. Must be nostalgia? Lol

Good point, that's loads better!

I'm continually baffled by how people can put up with all the messing-about with discs. Do you people still have cassette players too?

Actually I have both a DVD player that's about 7 years old and Blu Ray player and DVD films on both systems have exactly the same picture quality.

Sorry but cold, not especially cheap for a DVD player these days and I have no idea why anyone would bother with a DVD player at all with Bluray discs and players are so cheap and so much better and play DVDs anyway. Bluray is also MUCH better suited for modern HD sets as it matches the full HD resolution perfectly where as DVDs were really made for old SD CRT TVs so have to be scaled massively for modern sets meaning the picture will be lacking fine detail and clarity....

errr.... but that's what I am doing....buying blu ray discs. I don't have a 4K player. No point buying one yet....waste of money.

well in that case buy the blu ray disc..... it still plays in a 4k player. And buy 4k discs as and when you want, with the added benefit of a bluvray version AND digital copy

Because there are hardly any 4K Blu Ray discs available. But I agree with other comments that a decent 4K TV will do a far better upscaling job than this cheap player.
