All DVD Player Discounts, Offers and Sale - May 2019
*ugger, I keep on just missing this (annoyed)
I also got one last time too; good player with 2 x hdmi and digi op outputs (and ethernet connectivity)
Fantastic player. Got one last time they were available on ebay/Panasonic at same price. Twin HDMI is very useful to split the 4k video to 4k TV and audio to a 1080p only Soundbar
Got one of these the last time they were on offer at the same price. Great player
In store it scans at £49 trying to get store to match web price. The store won't honour the price.
In stock at Morley.
Stock in store. Might be worth a search for someone.
Some rude and judgmental comments as usual. Not everyone chucks gadgets galore at their children and plenty can't afford to. This is a good price for an acceptable idea to help make long journeys more bearable for children. Thanks OP.
Thanks - I've just bought the last one, so it's expired!
That's fine, I never bothered with BD that much and don't have any multi-region ones at all, as they weren't as easy to hack. I do have loads of DVDs though
If the "hack device" is a remote control, then ONLY dvd will be multi region not bluray. Let us know how it works out.
Thanks. Ordered for Mother In Law.
Why is this still on? The deal is gone 2 days ago at least.
Consoles do not support HDR10+, this does. If you are going to use with HDR10+ supported screen, you want this not current (old-ish) console
Hughes eBay store as well. I picked up am 3x from with 12mth warranty for £70 today :D
. Quieter too probably, which could be important in a living room
Yes showing as £149 for me too! :/
Waiting for the first person to say "who still uses blu-ray discs?"
No it was this price instead of the £54 before discount.
I love it when people jump to comment and then when they're offered the solution they don't even respond to say thanks! Makes me chuckle.
Did you use the code that OP posted (in bold)?
It's showing up at £44.99 for me?
The Co-operative website had these for £119 which comes down to £109 with the MAR10 coupon (and possibly £2 Quidco cashback). I was going to post a deal but I appeared to have bought the last one. (embarrassed) Might come back in stock though.
No Dolby Vision
I looked it up on the Sony website and said 3d ready plus stereoscopic 3d in specs https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/blu-ray-disc-players/ubp-x500/specifications
I'd be interested to know as no 3D would be a deal-breaker for me
Think the X700 supports Dolby Vision and built in wi-fi. I picked up a refurb X700 from Sony Centres direct, excellent player. 4k discs look stunning. Plays every format I have thrown at it, and it streams very well.
The store seems to have got some more in. Currently 3 available.
Bag of Sh*te not even full HD and only dual core
Processor and screen are nothing write home about, but decent-sized SSD and 8gb RAM are pretty good given the price. But I do think this is a better better deal for not more: hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-255-g7-ryzen-3-8gb-256gb-laptop-34998-at-ebuyer-3176863 £30 extra for 1080 screen and Ryzen CPU
What are people’s opinion on this?
One of the few laptops with a DVD drive
The guy is chatting Mac
What the person above said (y) A small tv to go in a small place. The cheapest it’s been
First one, before everyone starts: For this price you can get a 40 inch. Never mind you want a small tv. HD ready, no 4k, old stuff. Vestel, Never mind the price. Who uses DVDs anymore? Alexa not working very well with Toshiba. How did we survived before Alexa? Have I covered everything? Voted hot as I know what will come:).
Thank you. I got the last one at Sainsburys, Castle Marina, Nottingham. It had been reduced further reduced to £30.
;) Thank you.
Great deal OP. (y)
Don't be fooled by these which make out you can add loads of apps... YOU CAN'T! apart from the few that are already on there which doesn't include the ITV Hub. I got a couple a while back, slightly different model but same thing, luckily they were cheap or I'd have been gutted with the app options
It's in store only , if you read the title and Probably Because it has apps in it, it's an smart player... ;)
How noisy is the 420 model during playback? The player I've currently got makes a whirring noise as it plays the discs, not so loud, but when watching a film at night during the quiet scenes it's especially annoying.
Apologies, meant to post this on the thread re deal offered by Zoom i.e.Blu Ray ultra HD Player plus 5 disks package.Have also purchased the Panasonic UB420 model from Currys and very pleased with it.
Have heard some people comment on poor level of customer service from Zoom. Can only speak from my own experience. Was on holiday over Xmas and New Year and ordered this package and asked for it to be delivered to my local Newsagent.Unfortunately, due to lack of communication between Newsagents Staff, delivery was refused. Phoned Zoom Customer Service and spoke to very helpful young lady who confirmed package had been returned to them but arranged for it to be posted to my home address. Received the order the very next day and it was extremely well packaged. First Class Service which I can’t fault.
Just to update - for a replacement and it’s great. You also get a voucher for a free 4K from a large selection of titles on Zoom.co.uk. Got Gladiator and it came next day!
Bought one today, lovely little unit. Connected to a Pioneer reciever feeding a 5.1.2 Atmos setup. HEAT!
Better off with a couple of Amazon fire tablets, will have much more use than this old tech . Can get 2 8inch fire tabs for £108
If only they did these with a colour screen ;)
Thanks, only use the PS4 for Netflix and Blu-ray’s so thought I should sell it on and just get this.
Just received my £45 one. (annoyed) :D
Shame. Assume the same applies to WD i-drives then?
Network playback isn't in the spec list which makes me think it doesn't. AVI's are not supported either. I've checked to see Plex is available but that is also a no. To everyone else, if you are buying this for a particular internet app, do a quick internet search to check its available. Got a feeling this one of them, if its not the box list, it most likely doesn't have it
No I don’t believe so, just from directly connected USB
What effort :/
Hey mate. Those 4 speaker deals you put up, probably would have been better to condense them to just one post nect time ;)
Heat for the effort.
I was going to buy it but at the last minute I thought I'd let it go .
Just let it go ;)
i know but some people get caught up on this site buying things as they are cheap. i just wanted to add some other options for people who may be buying it off the cheap price alone without thinking of other options that may be better for them. like someone mentioned buying dvd cheap when some people have netflix which can be loaded on to a kindle and watch/ stream movies for free especially if you already have an account or even watch youtube or other streaming sites which may entertain kids just as much. but if you need a DVD player like said more power to you go for it.
A kindle isn't a DVD player. I'm guessing this is aimed at people who want a DVD player.
Has anyone found this at the stated price?
It's old tech now with 4K going to make these completely obsolete soon, just as these made the DVD players obsolete. Although they seem cheap with tech moving at the speed it does they can rapidly need replacement and not offer the bargain which they first appear to do.
Where have you seen this for £49.99 please?
Is this store specific? Showing as £99 online
Pseudo 4K streams, I suggest you read about Netflix and its so called 4K streams, they are compressed to cope with lack of bandwidth, as are networked tv channels in 4K...only way to get true uncompressed 4K is via UHD Blu Ray....need putting in my place? Niché does not prove anything is dead. Sell your account lol....Illegal. Why do you keep banging on about 5ghz around the corner? 5ghz is here now, my router has been doing 2.4 and 5ghz for donkeys years, that does not alter Mbps, the maximum amount of Mbps is the only thing it alters...clearly you have no clue what you are talking about. Speaking about dead...why are you talking about a PS Vita?! And what are you talking about audio extractors for?!
Nothing rude about it just facts. I think your being really sensitive or you just like to throw the dummies out the pram when your wrong. The fact you said it’s nichè proves it’s dead. Here’s for the slightly rude bit but you need putting in your place. Pseudo 4K streams? No buddy Netflix and sports have been 4K for a while. audio extractors have been around for a while £10 to solve any sound issues. FACT Goodman’s soundbar? And you wanna tell me I know nothing. I’d rather Van Gogh my ears than buy Goodman’s. Owning digital games- your clearly too old to understand. IF you wanted to sell. You just sell the whole account and I’ve already explained with mobile gaming becoming more popular and demanding streaming and sharing is the way forward. As you can’t go home to swap disks. Nichè yes so nichè it’s dead.... 100% yes 5ghz is around the corner. Just leave ur village go somewhere like Singapore see the world buddy there’s a lot out there
You really have no clue what you are talking about, it is not dead, as I said it is increasingly niché....enjoy your sub standard pseudo 4K streams with compressed video and audio through your Goodmans soundbar, clearly you have no knowledge of home cinema. As for your rudeness regarding my personal living, I have not complained of living in a rural area with no internet...in fact we have moved to a semi rural area with just fine Virgin Media Broadband.....saying that though, we are the lucky ones considering the average UK speed currently is 46mbps on the rise yes, but certainly not enough for the likes of UHD to be broadcast without crappy compression, the ONLY way for anyone to get the the best out of their 4K TV sets is with UHD Blu Ray Players...fact. Considering you don't actually own a digital game or have any resale value in it or for that matter (without resorting to piracy) have no clear knowledge of when a certain title is going to be pulled from Amazon Prime/Now TV/Netflix etc and have an avid film collector base out there then you are most certainly wrong.....dead nope, niché of course as I have already said.
Thanks OP. (y)
It’s dead mate. I’m surprised you didn’t start going on about mini disk or VHS. And your wrong the majority of gamers prefer digital media because we can play games / make ££ anywhere in the world on any console or hand held like a ps vita 5ghz is round the corner and as long as you live in a town or city you have access to 100mb+ Don’t sit in your village or parents farm house and complain about internet speed. People move to the sticks for peace and quite. No or poor internet is part of that package just like the gas refills.
