How to Properly Store Whisky
Whisky is a premium liquor and as such there are certain precautions that should be taken when storing it in order to make sure that it maintains its full flavour for as long as possible. Here we have prepared step-by-step instructions to help you make sure that your purchase doesn't go to waste.
Protect your bottles from direct sunlight as exposure to light will cause a reaction that will ultimately affect its flavour.
Make sure your bottles are stored in a cool, stable environment with temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees celsius. This is important because heat will expand the whisky inside the bottle and ultimately damage the seal allowing oxygen to enter the bottle.
Be sure to store your bottles upright, if it is kept lying down it will damage the cork and potentially affect the taste of the whisky as a result.
Turn your whisky upside down about once a month just to moisten the cork and keep the seal from becoming too dry and cracking.
Avoid humid storage environments in order to ensure a proper seal and pristine condition of the bottle.
