Think Spotify Premium is out of reach? Think again. We’ve uncovered a clever trick to get you the full Premium experience for an amazing £1.48 per month – no VPN required. The secret lies in acquiring a Turkish debit card and some geo-friendly savvy. Sounds complicated? We’ve got you covered…
Music streaming services have given us access to millions of songs, all at our fingertips, but it comes at a cost. Among these services, Spotify stands out due to its comprehensive library and premium service, alongside great features and benefits.
However, the cost of Spotify Premium can stack up over time, especially if you are using a Duo or Family account.
Fortunately for you, there is a cheeky hack to significantly reduce these costs by signing up for a Spotify Premium Individual subscription in Turkish Lira (59.99), bringing the cost down to just about £1.48 per month.
Good news, we know exactly how to do it and will help you through the process step-by-step.
How to get Spotify for just £1.48 per month
This step-by-step guide will show you how to get Spotify for cheaper than in the UK.
- Set up a Google account
To get started, you’ll need to create a new Gmail account. This process is straightforward — it’s just like setting up any regular account.
Once your Gmail account is set up, navigate to the ‘Payments & Subscriptions’ section. Click on ‘Manage Payment Methods‘ and add your debit or credit card details.
However, ensure you use a Turkish address when prompted, to make the account sound as genuine as possible. - Create a Spotify account
Once you’ve set up your Google payment profile, it’s time to create a new Spotify account. Make sure to use the new Gmail account you created above during this process.
After creating your Spotify account, proceed to the ‘Premium’ option found in the upper right corner of your homepage. You’ll be directed to the subscription page — don’t fret if the prices are in GBP or Euros, you’ll change this shortly. - Change the country to Turkey
On the subscription page, click ‘View plans’ and hit the ‘Get started’ button. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you’ll find the ‘Change country‘ option – select ‘Turkey’.
Alternatively, use this Spotify Turkey link. - Enable Google Pay on Android
If you’re on an Android device or web, and a pop-up appears requesting to ‘Pay with Google Pay‘, simply click on it, input your previously saved payment details and you’re good to go!
However, if you’re presented with only a debit/credit card payment option, you’ll have to try a workaround.
Please note that signing up on iPhone, iPad or Macbook won’t allow this since payments are processed through the country-dependent Apple App store, so you’ll have to do the following steps. - Set up international payments on iOS
To make payments in Turkish Lira, you’ll need an international bank such as Revolut or N26. You might also opt for ‘Wise’, an online platform that simplifies international transactions.
After signing up, choose a prepaid Turkish debit card from a provider like ‘Oldubil‘, and set it up with your UK phone number to receive your virtual card. - Deposit funds to pay for Spotify
You can deposit money in Turkish Lira onto your newly acquired Turkish card through an app called Wise. Just make sure to send more than 59.99 Turkish Lira (for example, 60 Lira) to cover the Spotify payment.
Note this process might take 2-3 business days for the funds to appear on your Oldubil account.
- Activate your Spotify subscription
Head back to Spotify, log in with the same credentials, and proceed to payment. Make sure your country is set to Turkey and the payment shows in Turkish Lira. Input your Oldubil bank details and complete the payment.
If all goes well, you will be subscribed to Spotify’s premium service at a fraction of the cost.
Just like that, you transfer a little bit of financial wizardry into making real savings on your Spotify subscription. Enjoy your new music without breaking the bank!
And there you have it. It is a tricky process, but once you have it all figured out, you could save hundreds of pounds a year on subscriptions and services. For a better understanding, we have also summarised the entire process in a video. Check it out below.
