What happens after the Netflix cancellation?
If you cancel your Netflix plan within your billing cycle, you’ll be able to continue enjoying Netflix until your account is automatically discontinued. You can check the remaining time in your “Account“.
If you choose to cancel your subscription immediately while in a payment cycle, make sure to check the Netflix terms and conditions related to cancellations and possible refunds depending on your subscription plan first. Officially, Netflix states in its terms of use that “payments are nonrefundable” (Billing and Cancellation, 3.6). You can still try to contact Netflix customer service and arrange a refund as they also state that “At any time, and for any reason, we may provide a refund, discount, or other consideration”.
After cancelling your Netflix subscription plan, you can regain access to your favourites and preferences within 10 months. To do so, visit your Account Details page on Netflix, and click on the “Restart Membership” button. You can still resume your Netflix subscription at any time.
Are there other options than cancelling Netflix?
When considering cancellation, it might be worth stepping down a tier instead of fully cancelling. Here are the prices, profiles, and other options for Netflix currently.
Netflix has three different subscription plans available for new users. These include:
- Basic with ads (£4.99 per month): This plan provides ad-supported content and can be used on only one device at a time. It does not offer the option to download shows or movies.
- Standard (£10.99 per month): With this plan, you can enjoy high-definition (HD) content and stream on up to two devices simultaneously.
- Premium (£17.99 per month): This premium plan offers the highest video quality, including Ultra HD where available. It allows streaming on up to four devices at the same time.
Please note that as of July, Netflix has removed the Basic plan without ads for new subscribers. If you want more detailed information about the Netflix’s plan, you can refer to our comprehensive Netflix prices guide.
Netflix premium subscribers in the UK have the option to add 2 extra profiles to their account, while users subscribed to the standard plan are only allowed to add 1 extra profile. All members of a so-called household need to live under the same roof.
Each profile has saved viewing activity and personalised recommendations, making it ideal for shared usage among family members or friends. You can also set up profiles with parental controls for younger viewers.
As of June 2023, it’s not possible to officially share passwords among accounts anymore. Nevertheless, we shared some tips on how to beat the Netflix password-sharing ban.
In recent changes, Netflix has discontinued offering free trials to new users. However, they do provide the flexibility for existing subscribers to modify their subscription or cancel it online at any time. This way, if you determine that Netflix is not suitable for your needs, you have the freedom to make changes to your Netflix plan or cancel your membership easily.
