Thank you for this! I have a Nord VPN subscription and although I tried Mexico and turkey it kept redirecting me to the US site. Hola did the same thing. TunnelBear was the only one to work. (y)

Is this still working?

Does smart DNS work reliably and fast?

Buy 3 months PSN & get 3 months Netflix free - £19.99 @ PSN (Invite only, account specific)

They email you which states: "Thanks for joining PlayStation®Plus for 12 months. To enjoy 3 months of Netflix, simply click the link below and follow the on-screen instructions." Confusingly states 12 months despite the deal being 3 months of PS Plus. The link takes you to a Netflix page with a code shown which you can redeem. Once clicked to redeem it adds an amount of £23.97 to your account. So, you can choose the higher or lower plan rather than the HD plan if you so wish. Sorry if the wording was confusing on my original post.

They added it to your psn account?? How much did they add to your account? If true it changes the deal

I've just received my email from Sony Playstation for using this offer and it just credited my account with the amount for three months however I choose to use the credit. Thank you for the heads up on the offer and gladly it worked for me.

I'd say completely. It's never going to be one of those things you constantly have on your head, but for what you're getting, I'd say do it. I picked up Skyrim VR (my favourite game of ALL time :D ) and I just love it. I mean beforehand you're just playing Skyrim, now you're in Skyrim. It doesn't get much better than that. I also picked up Resident Evil 7 (can't play it due to motion sickness). It looks great in VR and I genuinely can't wait to get my VR legs to play through it. I've also got GT Sport which is a great example of what VR can do, if not limited. TL:DR - do it. Especially from the 8th when the gen. 2 Starter Pack drops to £199.99 with either GT Sport or Wipeout (the latter of will seriously test your VR legs).

Pick your brain. An honest assessment of VR. with the PS sales coming shortly I’m seriously tempted to buy a VR unit but my gaming is normally AAA games only as i don’t play that often. with rumors of sub £200 for new and already £160 preowned in Game, is it worth it

Thanks Bitcoin5 I will have a play this weekend with above suggestions (just haven't had time this week (football) !) and let you know how I get on. Also I've found my HDTV calibration disk so I'll be using that as well to set everything up. To be honest I'm very impressed with the picture quality (baring faults described) - and I think the 4K is stunning. Also thanks for the HDMI cable suggestion. Still waiting for Costco to get back to me but its not Friday yet :)

Hi FrooGal Re the "dark patches" I have something similar in each of the four corners when displaying blank white (possibly there to a lesser degree with other colours) To be honest I'm impresses with the picture quality especially 4K - just the unacceptable flaring on dark pictures. Also I have finally found my HD TV calibration disk so will be having a play this weekend.

Same problem as me - my dlink NAS created a media server and the TV sees it but doesn't see any of it's content. I was hoping mine was a one-off problem but obviously not. Did anyone manage to connect to the TV via ARC so that the TV sound comes out their amp? I ended up using an optical cable but I'd prefer ARC to work as it should! Not that impressed really....

ordered thanks

Real UHD is the best consumer "resolution" you can get! Unless you have the cash laying around for a sharp 8k screen, which after trying some UHD 8k material on one last month, is actually no better than this one to look at! :o

Great, shall be upgrading my old Roku with this tomorrow now. Thanks for the heads up OP.

Problem with Roku is, while it has all the apps, the apps are poorly built. For example, the Prime Video app is abysmal on Roku in comparison to the higher quality Xbox/PS ones. This is why I returned my Roku.

Voted hot, bought this today, on Tesco direct, as I had some club card vouchers. Love the wireless remote on this and the TV buttons are very handy. Voice search also started working a few weeks ago, it used to only be available in USA.

Whats the best way to use this with limited wifi data?

I think you both mis-understood, I was explaining why the 'deal-post' was cold and then expired before it froze, as it was a re-post like this deal: Re-post too often and it will freeze as a deal, regardless of merit There are ways around the one trial per household and when these are posted, it is hot, see

Ok , but you can't tell me that everyone who rinsed and repeated on this in the past used a different device to watch on each time too . It used to be doable , but much like Amazon I was just mentioning that netflix now seem to be cracking down on it .

It's pretty obvious to most that if you use the same getaway car for bank robberies, you will eventually get caught.

Not sure that always works anymore, my son had a free trial then cancelled and I set up and did the same . Husband then tried and Netflix cancelled it two days in , when he phoned they said that although it was a different email and payment type and set up on a different device, they had picked up that one phone that was using it had already had a free trial this year . Apparantly it's officially one free trial per household , so I guess they are starting to crack down (fierce) .

You've gotta change the default launcher on these boxes, the ones they ship with tend to be garbage. Plenty of launchers to choose from that won't crash and forget settings.

I'm got a spare nexbox a95x (s905x version) 1GB RAM if anyone wants it.

There is a Nano & Stock Nexus rom by Magendanz on Freaktab for this box. I use his version of the rom for the M8S pro with the S912 chip and it is a big improvement on the stock firmware from Mecool.

I have, no problem with wifi. Problem I have is that it randomnly reboots and then loses apps from quickstart menu. Back to default settings twice. Not v impressed TBH although set-up was simple. Might just be rogue box. Bought from Gearbest.

Just because it says Android doesn't mean it's the best for tv. M8s pro L / w voice edition are officially Google supported tv boxes with the best for tv Android.

I was considering a M8S Pro L as it's one of the few affordable devices with Widevine L1 support - but then saw it lacks gigabit ethernet.. Are there any decent Kodi/Android TV boxes with Widevine L1 AND gigabit ethernet?

Both boxes are similar in terms of specs. I don't know what you mean by "true Google Android", both have Android 7.1.1. I still prefer the Beelink Ultimate which support MicroSD cards up to 64GB (twice the storage when compared to m8s pro), it has less problems with overheating and, in my opinion, the overall design of the box and remote are better.

Would a mecool m8s pro L with new mic remote and true Google Android same price be better?

Thanks, I'll try all those suggestions... ...tried the 4k Kodi fix - worked :-)

So I tried this yesterday (I have two numbers on contracts with them for the last 5 years plus some odd data pay-as-you-go sim), and they told me they're sad to see me go -- agent from the retention team was giving me *worse* offers I could get on my own on . Agent from the cancellation team was giving me worse offers as well (for example was trying to sell me that 30GB offer for £20) or completely irrelevant ones (I mentioned to them tethering is always a must in my plans, and they had the audacity to offer me £7/co rolling monthly contract with 4GB data and completely no retention with option of buying the tethering package (1GB) for additional £5 (making it basically something less useful than this 4GB contract from the same page)... Their retention team is absolutely the worst (actually my last year's experience with "normal" customer support is similar), and too bad EE and Voda are even worse :( Where to go?

I guess my deal still better which i took on boxing day £20 70gb and 30gb hotspot total 100gb everythink else unlimited ... Same for netflix ... They calling "binge" .contract with binge a bit more expensive

No, three don’t allow voice sims to be used in tablets etc.

Do I have to download each app for it to work and how would I log into take advantage of the Netflix/Dezzer ect.. please?

That was what I was on originally but the max I've ever used was 78GB in a month so 100GB is still more than enough for me :)

Sky and Netflix have announced a major new partnership deal which will see the full Netflix service become available in a brand new Sky TV subscription pack. From later on this year, Netflix will be integrated into Sky’s TV set-up Sky Q, meaning that subscribers will soon be able to access Netflix’s The Crown, Stranger Things and Black Mirror alongside Sky shows like Game of Thrones, Westworld and Big Little Lies. Sky has not yet confirmed the price of the new entertainment subscription, but has said that existing Sky customers who also have Netflix will be able to transfer their account into the new Sky TV ‘bundle’ or sign in using their existing account details. Netflix will also be integrated into Sky’s contract-free streaming service NOW TV as a standalone app. While Sky’s rivals including BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk all include Netflix’s TV app as part of its set-top box, Sky’s deal will see Netflix shows directly integrated into its other services. “By placing Sky and Netflix content side-by-side, along with programmes from the likes of HBO, Showtime, Fox and Disney, we are making the entertainment experience even easier and simpler for our customers,” Sky Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch said.

Sounds like it's only available on the newer boxes:

Experience of cheap brand TVs like this is that the '4K' is not to be taken literally. It'll be perhaps a shade better than 720p (HD Ready) compared to a branded TV.

Great TV for the price. Hot!

Terrible TV

This is just another noname brand from the manufacturer Vestel. Vestel produce a lot of very cheap TVs and market them under literally dozens of names to make it appear that there are a lot of competing suppliers. They are just the same TV with very slight variations between them. It makes no difference which of their TVs you purchase there really wont be much difference between them. Some people will be attracted to a name they haven't heard of rather buying from brands like Bush or Alba. Some might associate the names with old British brands of the same name and feel nostalgic or nationalistic. Don't be fooled they are produced in countries like Slovenia or Turkey are just a rubbish as each other. You may be lucky and get one that works well for a long time, or as is most likely you will get it and barely lasts the minimum warranty period they are designed for. To get a better quality TV you have to pay more - sometimes not much more. In the old days TVs used to last for ever - it was a reliable product. Now it is a disposable item.

Yes, all 3 will support Netflix. I'd personally go for the Roku if I had to choose only one as it's a more open platform and supports more services (pretty much everything!), but the firestick is decent if what you want is available on it, but it does have a strong Amazon content bias, which could be annoying if you don't use Amazon much. Chromecast specialises in casting to non-smart TV's (In fact, it's all it does do!), so that's probably your best best for casting, but I think the other 2 do offer limited versions of casting now.

You could argue that it costs Netflix more in bandwidth, that it costs more to produce content in 4K to begin with, or simply that they have deemed that people are prepared to pay more for it.

Why do we have to pay more for 4k?

Don’t have a link to the deal but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just the old prices.

Mexico This is based on the exchange rates during June 2017. You might want to do a quick conversion check on the top few countries in the list to see if it's cheaper to signup through Brazil now, for example. I think I read somewhere Brazil and Canada are the cheapest at the moment but can't confirm this. Note, you'll be charged the local currency so I'd recommend a no fee exchange card, like Revolut.

Thanks for the update. I have forwarded this information and your link to GLi forums to Torguard, so they can look in to it. I'll post when they reply.

The problem with the VPN not working appears to be down to the "Force VPN" flag. If it is disabled, wireless VPN connection is fine for me. So the info provided by TorGuard on this appears to be wrong. Or perhaps TorGuard rely on this flag for secure connection? I don't know. Anyway, I made much more progress by contacting GLi directly on their forum here. Incidently, when I used a 4G internet connection giving 40Mbps at the time I tested, throughput dropped to 7Mbps when connected via the GLi router with the VPN enabled. This seems about what you'd expect. Fast enough for some but not all data streams.

You should be able to use the mini router as wireless repeater or bridge, but not with the VPN enabled. I've managed to connect OK with the VPN enabled, but there's no data transfer once connected.

I've managed to connect it to my normal router/ home network and can't connect to it via wireless rather than my normal router, can't figure out how to get my full network via VPN but at least anything that I connect to this router via wireless goes via my dedicated ip I setup on it

Thanks for the extra info. I've read a fair bit of the docs on the GLi website, but couldn't find anythng helpful. They're obviously originally written in Chinese and the translation isn't always accurate. Torguard's CS response to my config problems was what I put in the quote. I understand this to mean that the mini router can't be used as a VPN router, if it's configured as a wireless repeater or bridge. So taking this as valid (I've no reason to doubt them) means that some of the info posted earlier in the thread about using the mini router as a wireless router configured with Torguard's VPN, is invalid, However, GLi advertise this device as a mini router that supports VPN configuration and the way I see almost everyone using this device would be wirelessly, so I'm stumped by the conflicting info. I'll have to look at both the Torguard and GLi forums and maybe open a GLi support ticket if I don't find a solution.
