Nice spot. I've just ordered myself a whopping 4gb for my laptop (overkill I know but at least Vista will have no excuses any more!)

Jakg

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=BL2KIT12864AA804 Can anyone tell me if these have a discount or not, and what the price is with the discount? They're a few pence more at MicroDirect, but that gets me 3% Cashback.

snipercat

Good find. Just placed in an order. Thanks

mbailey

That would explain why my order had 10% taken off that I did last night! At the time I thought it was strange that the price was 10% lower, but as it was lower didn't worry about it!

ibmonkey

voted hot, just bought some laptop ram. as someone posted before micro direct was not cheaper on this occasion, £42 on crucial and £53 on MD

Nah, I think its impossible due to the limitations of the architecture

Anyone here use 4BG successfully with a Dell Vostro using Vista 32 bit? According to Crucial only 64 bit systems will recognise 4GB, 32-bit 3GB-3.5GB

Be careful if your thinking of doing an impulse buy. Some computer only take 184 pin DIMM. I'd advise using Crucial's System Tool Scanner. See link below: ]http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx Voted hot because good for others.

Archer

The OCZ is PC-6400 whereas the OP is referring to Crucial PC-4200/PC-5300 dimms. Comparing prices for the two is silly

PeacePipe

No offence but your statement says more about you than OCZ who are also a reputable brand.

7thgalaxy

I'd still vote it hot as Crucial is a much more a reputed brand comparing to OCZ. I personally had never heard of OCZ before joining HUKD

dragon2611

Fair enough, your the first person whos voted cold to actually say why, I thought it wasn't a bad deal personally particularly as sodimms are also the same price handy for laptop users :) Unfortunately I don't think I qualify for the £10 off the other ram, isn't the google checkout offer only for people who didn't take it last time this time around? In my case it doesn't make much difference since my existing ram is only 667mhz so i wouldn't benefit from the other one linked. But thanks for taking the time to actually say why its not a hot deal

theloneriddler

Voted cold simply because this is not as good as the OCZ posted here: https://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109711 Also doesn't come with any heat dispersal and looks too. Interesting to see them lowering their prices on their own website though, usually larger companies doing that.

ramkmr

any one knows that this can be used in Dell Inspiron 500m Laptop/Notebook?

sotomonkey

I have a 640m with 1GB or ram (two 512mb sticks) and no slots free. Will this stuff fit the 640m and how difficult is it likely to be to remove the two 512mb sticks and replace them with two 1GB sticks?

nickie

Windows Vista 32bits allows to allocate up to 3.2GB of RAM, not 2GB and that's because the limitations of 32bits systems. Even if you have a 64bits operating system you might not be able to allocate the 4GB of RAM, if your chipset doesn't support them. With laptops, only the latest Santa Rosa platform accepts 4gb of ram, but is still dependent on the BIOS of your laptop (there are reports of laptops with Santa Rosa not being able to use the 4GB).

StudentGrant

I installed 4 GB memory in my Dell, running Vista Premium (32 bit). Afterwards, I found out that my version of Vista will not use more than 2 GB memory! You have to upgrade to 64-bit Vista to use RAM above 2 GB. So, be warned, they don't tell you about this when your computer is checked for compatability.............

https://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showpost.php?p=579968&postcount=2 I've spent thousands with ebuyer over the years and they have refunded or reducded my delivery in the past without complaint Delivery on the 30th adds up to more than 5 working days obviously 8days from order including the bank holiday, Never in my 30+ orders with ebuyer has delivery days not included weekends etc, they have always included all-days

killie99

 You ordered on the 25th which is bank holiday friday and they're closed until Tuesday 29th. Your delivery is scheduled for the 30th which is pretty much the first day your order could be delivered - think you're being a bit unrealistic for it to be delivered any quicker if you chose supersaver delivery.
