Switch to use with Virgin Superhub 3

Posted 30th Jan 2017
I need to connect 7 network cables to my Virgin Media Superhub 3.
I guess I need to buy a switch.
Can someone please suggest an appropriate switch or hub with 8 ports.
Also, how would I go about configuring the Superhub to accept the connections from the switch/hub?
Or is there some other way to connect 7 network cables to the Superhub 3?

Any budget 8 port gigabit switch will do. The switch is transparent so just plug a rj45 lead into the switch from the router and you're done

plug and play, you dont need another 7 sockets you need another 4 minimum.
make sure you buy a gigabit switch.
netgear 5 port gigabits are about a tenner from amazon delivered next day with prime

I recently had a super hub 3 and just use it as a modern. I have a gigabit switch plugged into it and wireless access points plugged into the switch. works a treat.

That would leave 6 that could be used.
8 port gigabit switch, from tplink or NETGEAR, plug it all in and you'll be sorted. No configuration necessary with a switch.

    Is this one suitable?
    It's £15 on Amazon.

    I need 7 free ports.
The Superhub has 4 ports total.
One of which will be occupied by a network cable to the switch, leaving 3 free.
The switch will lose one port, occupied by the network cable from the Superhub.
Therefore, I would require a switch with a minimum of 5 ports.
I conclude I would be best of with an 8 port switch, to allow for any additional network cable requirements in the future.
