    A sim only deal on a 2 year contract? No thanks, even if it is good value.
    2 years is handset contract length and the main selling point of sim only contracts is that they are usually up to a maximum of 1 year.

    From Techradar's own article: "SIM Only deals are usually the best option for those people who are out of contract but want to wait a while before they upgrade,"

    I don't understand why people are moaning about this being a 24 month deal....I get the fact that 12 month and monthly rolling deals are more flexible but if you find a good value 24 month deal you are locking in to a good rate for two years. I doubt there'll be many deals available with shed loads of 4g data at this price. Hot from me!

    I don't see the problem in signing up for 24 months, If you think the deal is good value and there's nothing cheaper. Especially if you buy your phone outright.

    yup 2 years for a SIM only is prohibitive. 12 months is that absolute maximum IMO

    Rubbish, he would have been in his 14 cooling off period and could have cancelled without any issues.

    It is a very good deal and actually being for 24 months is a bonus..at least you dont go through the hasstle of switching after 12 months

    That's an odd way of looking at it. The 12 month contract would just carry on the same probably.

    Both contracts could go up in price. Being locked in for 24 months is not a bonus, especially if a better deal with another provider comes up in the meantime.

    Regards 4G, it should, bar yet another delay, be available on Virgin soon. I'm not a fan of Virgin though mind.

    I much prefer Sim only 30 day rolling contract which you can cancel anytime with 30 days notice. This deal ok for £300 all you need is a phone for £600 then your looking at a normal contract

    I pay £16pm for the same except with only 4Gb EE data for the past 2years.
    As I now mostly only use data at home whilst connected to wifi and occasionally on my work breaks I only need 2Gb min data for out and about so this will save me a few quid

    If I could rate this ice cold I would. A 2 year contract on a plan that's, bar the data, worse than many monthly sim only contracts?

    Incidentally, look out for Virgin Media sim only contracts over the next few weeks. They're going to release one with 5GB of data and 2500 minutes for £10/month I think.

    You can upgrade your EE Sim Only contract after 6 months.
    So to everyone saying its a bad deal, think of this, 7gb per month, cheap price, after 6 months upgrade if you need a new phone, or continue with the cheap price (still being able to upgrade any time). In all honesty, if your phone works, have a cheap plan, enough data, why does the term matter when you could upgrade if you needed to? By all means pay £26.99 for this on a 12 month plan or be with a different provider.

    EE just keep throwing free data at me on their sim only so this could work out to be a very good deal indeed if they do the same to other customers too.

    I'm now on 6GB of data for £10 a month because they messaged me one day 6 months ago and said hey, have some more data for free on loyalty, just ring us up. I did and said what was the catch? They said none, nothing changes, no contract extension, 6GB of data, done.

    Great deal - i'll look at swapping to this as I am paying £14/mo for 4gb currently with EE.

    I don't get why the 24 months is a problem - £12/month is a great price for that amount of data/calls/texts, and it's on the best network in the UK (for 4G data speeds). O2/Three/Vodafone can't come close from a data speed/quality perspective, especially if you live in a big city. Not bothering with the MVNOs either as they often have limited access to the "official" networks so to speak which may mean limited rates/speeds for those MVNOs for a period of time.

    I have not changed my plan in 2 years thus far as i've not seen anything better..until this. I buy phones sim free which is a lot cheaper than a typical phone+sim combined contract,so all I want is a bunch of data on a good quality network. This fits the bill perfectly.

    Unless you are expecting EE to come out with an even better deal in those 2 years, can any of the moaners explain why it's a problem? Would understand it if this was a handset+sim deal, but as sim only..doesn't make sense.

    Yeah because all companies other than EE let you do this dont they....NOT, buy a car and return it after a week as you have found it cheaper elsewhere, take a mortgage and then ask to change it after it is agreed as you foundbetter interest rates elsewhere.... get my drift.

    in 8 months time the standard price will be around £1 per gig, 12 months deals fair enough but 24 months no thanks.

    a) if I call EE, would they match this?
    b) If they can't match it, will they be able to still keep my current number or is that not possible? would I have to port number to another network then port it back to EE...

    The fact that this is a 24 month deal is good for people who only ever use SIM-only and buy their own phones which is usually a much cheaper option. I haven't seen a decent phone contract deal that tempted me for ages.

    I'm currently on the twelve month £20 for 20GB per month unlimited voice/text Vodafone deal discounted from £40 per month with cashback and Netflix. In a few months I've got to go though the hassle of haggling with Vodafone and finding a new deal and leaving them if necessary. If I forget, I'll end up paying £40 per month rather than the approximate tenner per month I pay after cashback/Netflix/discount. Similarly, take the BT Mobile deal and unless you haggle or move, you'll lose the financial benefit of the cashback/vouchers after 12 months.

    If a deal like this is around next time my contract is up, I'll be tempted. I've got to sort out a SIM-only deal for a friend to go with her p9 lite. I was going to put her on the 4GB EE £9/£10 per month contract (which will double in twelve months without action) but now I'll probably put her on this deal so that she or I don't need to worry about it for two years.

    Don't forget new EE contracts come with six months of Apple Music for free.

    Also, if you place the £12 EE deal in your Carphone Warehouse basket, then close the tab, go to TCB/Quidco and then go to Carphone Warehouse, the SIM deal will still be in your basket so you can then buy with £10 cashback.
