    V. Nice price for a solid ssd. There are cheaper SSD's, but none have a lower failure rate than the Intel ones.
Keep an eye out for Intel SSD bargins, as they have cashback on the 320 / 520 range at the moment :

Amazingly cheap for a well-reviewed SSD, blows most of the competition … Amazingly cheap for a well-reviewed SSD, blows most of the competition away

    Wait wut?

It hasn't been reviewed yet and Intels sandforce models are still far too fresh to consider them reliable.

Would still buy regardless but please do not let these fresh drives appear godlike until they have past the test of time

I was just about to comment on how nice it was on the first page that everyone is supported a new contributing member of the forum, followed by some very good and knowledgeable advice. Almost brought a tear to my eye.....

Then people got mean again. Oh well.

This has been tried and tested and is very reliable after the firmware … This has been tried and tested and is very reliable after the firmware upgrades. Secondly, this intel hasn't been used by consumers as of yet and early adopters are probably gonna get burned when a firmware bug shows up therefore http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/crucial-ct128m4ssd2-128gb-m4-ssd-112-68-amazon-1187963?page=1is better.

Or why do you think Intel is late to the game? They have been testing it rather than just pushing it to the market as fast as they can (yes we are looking at you OCZ). Intel have the best reliability in the industry bar non.

So I'm not saying one is better than another (neither can you) but you would be a fool to choose either until next week.

It depends on whether performance or reliability is your priority.

I'm in the market for a smaller SSD for a boot disk and think I missed out by not buying the 80 Intel that briefly popped up on here. I'd say between 60 and 80gb's would be fine for my needs. I was looking at a Crucial M4 but I've heard that Intel's are pretty much the most reliable which seems to be what's been said so far on here. Any other recommendations for a decent SSD in the budget end of the price spectrum?

the intel is slower than the sandforce ssd's, slower IOPS and read/write speeds. Intel has developed it's own firmware for the sandforce controller on it's 520 model, they might have done so on this model in which case it will be extremely reliable, more reliable than all the other drives that use whatever chip this uses.

Corsair force3 Scan where selling it at £104 this morning and someone posted it on Novatech for £106.98 and it went red hot, the Sandforce controllers can give blue screens and sometimes fail but Corsairs excellent customer service and 3 year warranty should help if it does fail. The sandisk one off here is £6 more expensive has the same internal controller and a 1 year warranty and with the failure rate on Sandforce drives i wouldn't touch that if it where £70, if your buget will allow £119 Crucial M4 is widely regarded as the best SSD there is although this intel is nice but reports suggest a May release no matter what Amazon have got on there website. The crucial use a different controller itel also do and Samsung use there own controller built in house but they are expensive if reliability is you main priority it would be this or the Crucial as speedwise they are pretty much the sams and warranty wise its your choice.

Im in the market as my trusty Crucial c300 seems to be ready to die or my PC needs formatting. Anyone thinking of buying a 60gb or 64 for a boot drive dont bother after a windows7 insatllation and a few bits and bobs the drive will be full and you will store you programs on another drive meaning you will get fast bootup but you will loose any speed when launching apps making the drive pointless.

no. deals should be regarded on their own merits, and not on that of their posters (seems like a reverse ad hominem). that this is your first ever post is not a reason to skew the hot/cold ratio and mislead people into spending/not spending their money when otherwise they might not/have.

Great price for what it is!

Personally I prefer the non-sandforce based controller ssds on the crucial m4 and the samsung 830 but this is a good deal for an intel ssd.

Saw this this morning at it was preorder at £120 so they have dropped the price but its still slower than the Corsair and OCZ and after reading up this morning it wont carry intels usual 5 year warranty it will get 3 years unlike the 5series drives. Cheaper than this morning so Hot for spotting that but still wouldnt buy it over the Corsair.

Cheers for that. To be honest, I dont know that I can spring £100 for the larger SSD's as things stand. Unfortunately my "budget build" has got a bit more pricey and higher spec than I'd started out! I'm going for the i5 2500k with a gigbyte z68ap. I'm wondering if I should maybe hold off and see if the prices drop as I think intel are bringing out their latest processors later on this month
  37. deleted57770's avatar
Is this just a average/normal deal rather than a hot deal as Amazon does not state warranty period so 12 mths warranty applies? The warranty for Intel SSD should be 5 years to warrant a higher selling price as a 5 year warranty is worth around 30% of the selling price.
