Whilst searching online for reviews of this particular model I stumbled upon this...

We recommend you to avoid this model while waiting for Asus to correct the problem and recall the faulty batches.

Hopefully this "Temporarily out of stock" might be because Asus will be sending out revised cards for Amazon to ship out.

Ok, I wasn't going to jump in on the comments here but after the "WAIT FOR NVIDIA" rubbish I couldn't resist.

People have been saying wait for NVIDIA ... wait for NVIDIA... wait for NVIDIA.... guess what. Their cards were originally due out last year but didn't arrive. Then there were rumours of February... still nothing. Now in March and still nothing looks like it is coming. Ok. So maybe.... just maybe April will see something. But it's still a maybe. That's around 4 months after the 7970 was released. So yes. I would hope that with it being more than a quarter of a year later... it should be faster.

Secondly. With current NVIDIA cards if you want to do a multiscreen setup you NEED to use 2 cards in SLI. With ATI cards it's possible to use just one. Therefore cost wise the AMD is a lot better value in a multiscreen environment. I know most people dont have a multi screen rig but bear in mind this.

I was running two 7970's but reverted to one 7970 as I relised that I could gaming happily at over 6348 x 1142 with max settings on BF3 with just the one. So if I can game at such a high resolution, with everything set to max... why do I need a faster card?

I think people need to quit the NVIDIA fanboy stuff. They haven't released anything. Any if they do release a faster card... so what? I can game perfectly find on Max settings with a slower card (7970). Therefore the only advantage you would have is that the NVIDIA one could potentially be more future proof (by which point AMD will have released other cards and so will NVIDIA).

Oh one more thing... if you are sure you need a graphics card that is faster than the current worlds fastest... then check out the rumours. The new GTX680 is meant to have 2gb of VRAM..... hmmm. Guess you wont be loading to many high res textures while multiscreen gaming with that.

NVIDIA have been very clever with their marketing strategy.

Even with the drivers being still very young theres not that much more FPS going to be gained, im sticking with my 6870 for now and when they drop under a £100 crossfire them and they will easily see off both cards.

It's not fanboyism, its the fact that as soon as the Nvidia cards hit the retailers, prices will drop all across the board.

Depending on the Nvidias performance and price, I can see this card dipping below £300 in a month or so.

So if you must buy a graphics card now and you need one that supports multi screen, I would buy one of AMD's older cards that are much better value for money.

I'm much more interested in passmark benchmarks which average multiple users than one reviewers benchmark.

Also, as a flagship product of a new range against an older range it should have a decent gap, not just a marginal (and negotiable at that!) gap...

takes 3 slots. Useless for crossfire, will overheat the top GPU and badly.
