Thanks, bought one and very pleased with it so far, as contract was up. £600 for a Samsung S7 Edge was too extravagant for a phone. At half the price this is a much better deal. Now also available on Amazon Prime at the same price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Xperia-UK-SIM-Free-Smartphone/dp/B01ECV0Y58
Bought an X for £315 from Amazon before Christmas and it's worth the money. Had a Z3 previously. Battery is around the same as a 2 year old Z3 and does seem laggy but i like the slightly smaller size, 32 gig mem & the fingerprint reader. Probably the best sensible sized phone around the £300 mark. Heat from me :)

this is a poor effort of a flagship smartphone.
This isn't the flagship, this is midrange.
it was their highest spec phone on release.

No it wasn't, it was released along with the x performance

I rang CPW but the best the offered was 49 quod if I bought over phone. Would that void the Quidco offer?

Can you use corporate discount 25% off with this?
hey maybe you can share the code ;-)

Can't share as you need to go in store with ID
I just called CPW, if you quote the quidco they will waive the £75 off the upfront.

I would do it but im worried about the data usage

I am a newbie to the site and wondering why is it cold? Simply cuz its Apple?

Partly - iphone deals tend to get icy cold on here. This one will be super chilly as there are better deals around - mobiles.co.uk have the handset for £75 and the same deal but 5GB not 6 for £34 a month (6 months at £17). Works out at over £100 cheaper. Even so it's not the best deal I've seen before Christmas and hopefully something better will appear soon. Mobiles.co.uk are a part of CPW but CPW won't match their deals.

Works out about £41.50 per month over two years (excluding any cashback). Not bad but there have been some better deals posted (and gone cold as is customary with iphone deals on HUKD...).

This is a fantastic deal. I recently purchased the Axon 7 for £340 and am very pleased with the phone. This at £200 is an absolute bargain for the specs, design, speakers, fingerprint sensor, 2 year warranty. Buying this one for my girlfriend!
quantum77
Is the support in UK or China? Also stock android?

It's not stock android It has a very light skin, nougat update is expected in January. The US ZTE community forum is very active and if you read the community suggestions and how quickly they are adopted and updates pushed you will be quite surprised
I bought this phone from the US for $200 sound on it is amazing it has 2 dac outputs and the speakers are the best of any phone. The camera in low light is not great but I don't take that many pics so it doesn't bother me it can also play flac audio files. I have never owned flagship phone, I'm coming from a g2. I absolutely love this phone it's great value and it looks and feels so premium the fingerprint sensor is supper quick as well. It comes with a clear protective cover and quick charge 2.0 Charger
Is the support in UK or China? Also stock android?
SweeneyUK
Pretty much the axon mini anyway compared to the eu and US version of this phone.. They get 4gb ram, 64gb hdd, 1440p screen and a faster cpu.
The UK model only comes with 3gb, 32gb and 1080p screen.
Why is this?

You have just stated the specs of the axon 7 and compared them to the axon 7 mini which is over 100 quid less. Well done.

Isn't p9 lite a better deal? £200 isn't too bad but better phones can be found...
The P9 lite does have better software but the body of it is plastic, I personally will be holding onto my P8 until I can afford the P9 rather than P9 lite

My p8 does emoji's
Love my P8, it does do emojis although that isn't a main concern of mine. The handset itself is the best I've ever owned (has survived many knocks and drops from my children which a plastic bodied P9 lite would not have survived)

Just trying to escape from Vodafone after not having internet for past two month. Shocking customer service as no one takes responsibility and keeps passing blame on one department to other. Technical escalation team sounds jokes as 6 forms been sent to by front line and no action taken. Also they keep billing incorrectly since September as had twice been charged double..

yep I was with them 3 years ago with same issues!! still the same old botchups

when you email them, you get a reply back from Person 1, then if that doesnt resolve the issue the email gets sent to Person 2 to whom you have to explain everything again which still doesnt resolve it then leading you to despair and counting the days of contract ending. Then when you go to cancel the contract, they ask you "Why do you wish to cancel". Duh! because you have the worst customer service infrastructure setup in the world.!

I wonder what speed the data is 3G, or 4G.

4g
Having used both i'd say id were far worse than Vodafone customer services, far worse.
£5 Quidco cashback aswell...
lucauk
I can't believe people still fall for ID. Read the reviews! Cold for me, worst network ever.

to be fair since the demise of orange no mobile company has focused on customer service. I have a main Vodafone simply which is excellent except when you need to speak to them, ID as a second and been fortunate to not have to speak to them plus 3 in a mifi....previously shocking but actually getting better. Simple things is if you get a signal and no billing issue they all the same but once that stops they're all pants

Thanks..they keep cancelling my orders...when I call they don't know why. All details totally correct, and I received an order from them for something else a few days ago with all same details, all they can say is it failed internal security checks...but they don't know why!

I went through a spell of this.
Got told maximum 2 PAYG per person every 3 months when I complained.
So I ordered in wifes name and orders were cancelled.
The rule had changed to 2 per household every 3 months.
Its fair to say they havent a clue on their own rules.
I phoned them and asked about it, they had no idea what caused it - info is totally correct. Exactly, no cashback, so I am not doing. When I made a previous order for a really cheap thing, they wanted to know how long I had lived where I did, and at place before - for a payg thing! Dunno what it is with them.
Ta, seems nice - actually prefer this phone to the one that was £1.99, tried to get it via TopCashBack but that site seems to hate me, keeps telling me that something is blocking TCB - tried in Chrome, tried in IE... don't have adblocker, so really confused.

This happens EVERY time I place on order with CPW. My understanding is if you have to complete the order by phone this will prevent any TCB/Quidco being paid.
Mine just turned up and it doesnt support GPS, despite the website saying it does/

Argos list this phone for £49.99, but their description says that it's dual SIM - so the handset won't be locked to O2. Might as well save yourself a tenner and get one from there, if it floats your boat :)
No, the phone will be locked to O2 when purchased from Argos.
This is not a bad deal considering dual SIM Marshmallow with 1GB you can buy from UK high street rather that dealing with some online Far East import.
and the point of dual SIM phones is that you can use two different networks, so why would it be locked to O2?

For the same reason regular single SIM PAYG phones are usually locked, because they are subsidized by the network provider assuming you will use them on their network. Dual SIM allows 2 SIM cards (numbers), not necessarily from any or different provider.

This deal definitely doesn't freezing temperature, I guess many don't value dual SIM.
Will it be unlocked as carphonewarehouse phones are unlocked?

Explain? Playing devil's advocate here, but the "spec" of the top end iPhones are easiliy surpassed by plenty of other mid range smart phones. I'm intrigued as to why it's ok for Apple, or is it the "stupid tax" as mentioned above?
With iPhones, you are paying for the vastly superior OS and general user experience, where "no lag" is actually a thing; by contrast, on the Android-side of things it's the same old neverending race for the "top specs" (the mentality eloquently illustrated in your quoted post) and the promise that with next year's high-end SoC, the OS will finally run smoothly.
Of course, BB10 is still the best mobile OS for productivity. If you insist on Android, Dtek60 is probably the most value for your hard-earned.
vastly superior os, lol. Brainwashed.
No, it is you brainwashed.
I am using both: android- Samsung Galaxy S6 as work phone and iPhone 6S as private. And even S6 has higher specs, iPhone is a clear winner in day-to-day use.
of course, with its vastly superior os, lol.
No,really, just try both for couple of months and you will see. I am not telling you bu**it here. I am using them every day and can compare.

Yes! It's been in once for repair, which hasn't fixed it. It's being collected again tomorrow. Motorola have said they will only replace it if there's been 2 failed repairs.
I've been very disappointed with Motorola's customer service. Hard to get through on the phone and then you have to wait several days for them to email you the label you need to return it.

I've been very disappointed with Motorola's customer service. Hard to get through on the phone and then you have to wait several days for them to email you the label you need to return it.
Taking mine back for refund as not sending off for repair only being 2 days old....

not a premium phone I know, but no NFC, and no finger print ?
waynester21
Fingerprint is so overrated anyway. No NFC is a deal breaker though.
I thought that until got the G4Plus, unlocking is instant rather than the very tedious and time consumer entering 4 digit PIN :D

the best reason to have it I think is that it unlocks the Nat West banking app and I don't have to remember my log in

I'm with you on that one. I'd seriously never buy a phone without fingerprint scanner after being used to one for so long now also. As you said it is not only just about unlocking but for app use also. Think it is an almost a must also with a wide phone much easier placing finger on back than typing pin code or a password for apps etc.

Not quite sure what the features are! very basic phone.

"feature phone" means "basic phone" 8)

yeah it features nothing

A feature phone is a class of mobile phone; the term is typically used as a retronym to describe low-end mobile phones which are limited in capabilities in contrast to a modern smartphone, such as the iPhone. 8)

This better than the Samsung J3?
depends what version?
2016 version j3 better or worse?
I'd say worse since lowered memory and less ram
Ok thanks, any ideas why the j3 is more expensive? brand perhaps??
Most definitely brand.
The camera will probably be slightly better but that's about it. Huawei are pretty decent and tend to have old price points

16 GB soon to be redundant(or really slow), apple's entry level iphone 7 now is 32gb the writing is on the wall

swing and a miss. this will be relevant for a while yet, and is still the best option for a small phone (wish there was a premium android in this format)

carphone warehouseCarphone Warehouse Beginnings and Growth

The company was established in 1989, by Sir Charles Dunstone, who is its current Chairman, and Julian Brownlie; both of them put in £6,000 as an initial investment. A year later David Ross, the company’s third partner, joined the company. Ross became the Finance Director and later led company development in continental Europe and the U.S. under The Phone House Brand. In 2000, the company underwent an IPO, and a year later Dunstone took over control of the company from his business partners. In 2008, half of the company was bought by Best Buy Europe, though because of very miserable financial results, a demerger took place in 2013; Carphone Warehouse bought half of Best Buy Europe shares for £500 million. A year later, the company merged with Dixons Retail and formed Dixons Carphone.

Carphonewarehouse.com – A Place to Compare it All.

The company divides its sales between two channels – retail stores, owning over 2,400 of them across United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe and the U.S. and the online website at www.carphonewarehouse.com. Following the company slogan “We compare, you save”, you can compare prices of mobile devices from different mobile operators and the chosen tariff (monthly payments and pay as you go; the choice of standalone devices is also available). The same applies to SIM cards and some other devices such as tablets. Plus, you can look for physical stores in your area by providing your postcode in the Store Locator.

The store is very convenient to use, and has received numerous awards, including “Retailer of the Year” in the Retail Week Awards with Oracle, “Best High Street Retailer” in the Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2015, “Best High Street Retailer” in Mobile Industry Awards 2014, “Customer Experience Technology of the Year” award in the RetailWeek Technology Awards 2014.

Carphone Warehouse – Comparing and Saving

What Phones are Available at CarphoneWarehouse?

The company sells in its online shop products in a few different categories, such as:

  • Mobile Phones – Contains standalone phones, upgrades, pay as you go and monthly payment offers. You can also get “super value smartphones” which come with little to no upfront cost and small monthly payments
  • Upgrades – You can compare different phone upgrades and compare devices that come with upgrades at different networks.
  • Broadband – Includes home and mobile broadband tariffs as well as TV and media streaming (TV Boxes and Google Chromecast).
  • Accessories – This is by far the biggest category on the website that divides itself into tablets (standalone or tariff), wearables, such as smartwatches and fitness wearables, as well as chargers, headphones screen protectors, and phone cases.

There are many different brands present in the store, with the top ones including:

Apart from the regular offers, the company has a “Mega Deals” section, which includes all the best deals available at any given time. The deals can apply to items from all categories, including pay as you go phones, pay monthly or SIM free / SIM Only options, and accessories. The company also has amazing seasonal offers – last year, a few days before Black Friday it launched an event that spanned all the way to Cyber Monday and offered great deals on chosen phones and tariffs. Another way to save some money is to make a trade-in and exchange your old phone for money.

Shopping at Carphone Warehouse

Choosing an offer and buying a selected product is super easy at Carphone Warehouse. The website is clean and the search bar is very convenient to use. This allows you to customise the offers that are presented to you. The only problem is that you can’t purchase pay monthly or SIM-only contracts if you are less than 18 years old. You don’t need to register an account prior to making a purchase on most things but the company offers a loyalty programme called Additions which makes it worth staying with them. It consists of three different parts: Insights – Expert advice and tips for your smartphone, treats – free gifts like free movies, games and eBooks, deals – compares the best available offers on devices for you and will remind you when you are due an upgrade.

Making an Order – It’s Really Easy

The way that you make a payment depends on the product of your choice. If you go with a monthly tariff, you have the option of direct debit to pay your bills in a convenient way. To pay for items upfront, you can use credit cards such as Visa, Visa Debit, Master Card and American Express. The company doesn’t process Maestro, Diner’s Club and Solo cards and accepts only credit cards issued in the United Kingdom. You can also top up your account upfront so that the network that you are with can use the funds when it’s time to pay your bills.

Immediately after you make an order, you will receive your first confirmation e-mail. When your order is accepted you get a second one – usually, one day after your order is shipped. The company delivers to the UK and Channel Islands only. There’s no cost associated with shipping apart from packages that are to be delivered on Saturdays (£7.50) and certain remote locations (£10). All phones, pay monthly SIM cards, free gifts and everything over £50 is delivered with DPD using next-day or nominate a day delivery options. All other items are shipped using Royal Mail. You can also use Click&Collect option to collect your item at the local Carphone Warehouse store.

Carphone Warehouse Return Policy

The process, as well as eligibility, varies from case to case. You can return and exchange almost anything you buy online or over the phone within 14 days after the product is delivered to you. This excludes top-ups, downloads and apps, headphones and Early Upgrade pay monthly phones. Similarly, you can return and exchange your Pay monthly phone, including changing a network, swapping your phone and cancelling your contract. More detailed information is available on the websites of respective networks.

To return or exchange your products, simply follow the guidelines below. Note that any returns by post exclude laptops, which must be taken to your local store:

Call the company at 0370 1116565 and check if you are eligible for a return. If you are, you’ll have 14 days to send it. Remove all of the personal data that you can from the device.

The company also offers the Carphone Warehouse Bill Angel App, available from Google Play Store and iTunes. It’s used to track your monthly calls, texts and data usage. Users can set it to alert them at different usage brackets.
