can netflix or skysports only be used on the phone?
TCB are offering £63 cashback on this at the moment, making it the equivalent of £14.75 a month.
Red Value Bundle includes a 6 month entertainment pack from one of the following options†:

Netflix
NOW TV Entertainment Pass
Sky Sports Mobile TV on your mobile.
Spotify Premium
This is a great deal. Spotify is £9.99 a month and you get 12 month's free with this deal, plus unlimited texts and calls and 20gb of Internet. :)

Just got a letter from Three saying they were ending my Ultimate Internet SIM 200 monthly deal. I only use under 6GB a month and this is the best alternative I've found so far, especially with the included extras (Spotify or Now TV etc) and the £84 Topcashback. Why is it so cold?

Still not a good deal, I ditched sky last April after being a loyal customer for 15 years but after their constant price increases I ditched them and haven't looked back, partly because I now use an android tv box, fully legal hardware by the way, it's what you can install on it that goes into a grey area but that don't bother me, after paying sky's over the top prices they can now kiss my ****, I'm still watching all the tv/movies and sports that I want without needing sky.
Got this deal 4 the sports package for 22.75 p/m & was told it would stay at this for the first 12 months & its now gone up to 25 has this happend 2 anyone else?

Actually, I made a choice not to spoon feed you the info, due to your prickly nature which you so clearly demonstrate every time you post. You want to learn how to get it for £22, find out for yourself. We aren't friends.

Well that really told me, like on a site where everyone posts deals for everyone #genius

I suppose we should be grateful for small mercies because your kindergarten response does as good as confirm you acknowledge you was talking out of your Harris but your personal pride can't bring yourself to admit it in an open and honest manner.

There's an interweb of billions impressed by bullpony don't you know, just ask all those Nigerian princes wanting to transfer their huge personal wealth in to random people's current accounts :{

I'm not going to get embroiled in this nonsense but I don't support either of you and not sure what you mean by a Jekyl username as this is my own account. I just want to hear more about this Sky deal (as you'll see from an earlier post) rather than your stupid bickering and accusations.

I am sure you can use Herr Google to find out that Jekyll is slang for snide.

And I hate to break this to you but when you choose to start sticking your oar in from what is clearly not your primary username you have by definition embroiled yourself in to this nonsense.

Oh and hello, my initial post in this thread was explaining how I got the very same Sky package for a ching(that's five of Her Majesty's Pounds Sterling before you start on that too) cheaper than this actual deal ;)

It was that qwerta369 who lowered the tone when he/she tried claiming everyone gets it for that price and then had to even go one better insisting he/she had got it three quid cheaper than that.

Strangely enough he/she has stayed deadly silent ever since I asked for some kind of evidence to back the claim up and then Braveheart began to chip in with his/her Scottish sense of humour finding my London/Essexshire twang a source of amusement.

And everyone lived happily ever after, the end :{

Glad we've cleared it all up now 8)

The £5.05 TopCashback from my phone order is showing as payable now.
CPW are selling the 4G version. Specific model is 5017X, 4G with Android 5.1, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 5MP camera. Not sure about the weight, but 125g is what's shown on the Alcatel web site. The 3G version is thicker and may weigh more.

Steer clear of the 3G version as it's much worse.

Edit to add: My phone (4G version) weighs 144g on my scales, including battery and SIM card.

Edited By: Donuts123 on Mar 03, 2016 18:09: Add weight
im interested in this phone

as has been said there are two version a 3g and a 4g

can anyone confirm the CPW one is the 4g version, also what does it weigh, some websites say 146grams (or thereabouts) other say 125g, also what Android version is it again lots of review vary between 4.4. and 5

many thanks

Edited By: benchaud on Mar 02, 2016 18:38
Well I've had time to play with the phone for a bit, and for £15 I'm pretty impressed! It's fast enough to run DraStic (Nintendo DS emulator) at a decent playable speed.

For other retro console emulators though, the display isn't ideal because (according to one emulator I tested) the screen refresh rate is 56.67Hz. It would be better to be 60Hz for smoother gameplay with emulators and video playback.

Another possible downer for gaming use is that, at least according to the spec on Alcatel's web site, the screen only has 2-point touch.

Edited By: Donuts123 on Mar 03, 2016 14:02: Mention 2-point touch
Picked up my order from CPW today. TopCashback tracking at £5.05 so fingers crossed that gets paid.

Exact phone model is 5017X, so 4G with 5MP camera. Haven't had time to actually use it yet.

Lol sorry but im not a lemming that follows others i dont think anyone needs a phone every six months and i think it disgusting that companys bring them out so often its a free world pal if i want to vote i will, im guessing youre upset by my apple comment.?? I do apologise.x

I think it's because the voting system isn't designed for people to vote based on whether they like a product or not, it's about whether it's a good deal for that product or not. If someone doesn't like a product for whatever reason then that person shouldn't vote. Otherwise the voting system breaks down into a popularity contest.

Completely agree it's about the deal not if someone should be buying a new phone or how often the company releases new models

Ive got 6s plus,my first since iphone 3gs and i hate it,it will be up for sale on here in next few days, android all the way but im not for a new phone evey six months, who ever does sorry but it ridiculous to change or for the company to release phones on this kind of rate.personally i wait a few years before changing.but it does look nice but so does last phones they brought out.:( to many phones released to fast...cold from me

your voting cold cause you dont want to buy a new phone yet? that is just plain stupid please stop using the voting system as you are the problem

I thought that was unfair too

£1000 for a PHONE.

Prices are absolutely crazy. Whoever thinks this is a "deal" has lost all perpective on reality I'm afraid.
To be fair you're paying quite a decent amount for the data here. As an example I'm on a £15/month 30day rolling plan with Three, unlimited minutes and texts but only 4GB data - you're getting 12 with this one. You're paying at least £400-450 for the data and plan with this

Got a 128gb S6 Edge, 3x Tab S, Gear VR and S2 Gear - sick and tired of Samsung endless hardware churn making an average shelf life of 6 months, worse is the software support.
So I've had enough and vote cold.
You're getting off the bandwagon when it's reached the best stop lol. Everything good about your phone, but better in every way
iPhones are the most OVER-rated phones ever...little tweaks on newer devices has people brainwashed. (I've got an iPhone btw so I ain't being biased) Everything about iPhone is either a "fashion statement" or a gimmick that doesn't enhance your life anyway whatsoever...also them Apple watches that cost over £250 are a waste of money. £250 for a piece of glass and colourful rubber that's not waterproof
Should have sneaked iPhone anywhere into the title and would have had a scorcher on your hands ;)

I've been using this phone for a week now and. have now found the global heptic feedback. Very happy with phone a some really great software included out of the box. A very good buy and great phone.
chamblacha
At the risk of repeating what's already been said ... I just purchased one if these, ordered mine on the internet and delivered to store, and can confirm it is unlocked. Using mine on the Three network. It's a great phone and the only two things I don't like about it are ;

1. No heptic feedback. Had to switch to Google keyboard but this is only available when using keyboard and not system wide. This isn't everyone's cup of tea anyway.

2. I don't like the UI that comes with the phone so I've switched to Nova launcher and prefer this.

Otherwise it's a great phone. You must remember the price your paying for this and given the spec I don't think you can go far wrong. If you want the more expensive phone people tend to compare this with then just reach deeper into your pockets and buy it.

Very similar in size to the Sony Z1/Z2/Z3 range. Good all round spec and does the job.

Having used this phone for a week now I've discovered there is global heptic feedback so I'm very happy. Phone is great and I'm impressed by the number of software tweaks out if the box. All in all a great for for the price.

So many reasons not to choose this, especially not at this price. You can get the far superior moto x force for this, the moto x play for less, even the Samsung s5 neo would be a better choice... Or the lg g4 for less, or the 5x If you want water proofing then if consider the moto g 2gb version and save £200. No no, no, no. Sorry
None of those phones look a patch on the Sony's though. If this isn't your cup of tea then for this price the Z3 would be better rather than the fugly list you've put together

Sorry, but anybody who spends 5 minutes comparing specs can see that most of those phones out-spec the Xperia, and the camera (front or rear) isn't as good as ANY of them, despite the MP count.

On paper possibly but not in reality, and looks are a matter of subjectivity-the sony square shape looks cheap and ugly to many including myself and the skins are ugly too. And it is ridiculous to say this is better than the x force in just about every regard except for selfies! Makes me wonder if you know what you're talking about.

No point spending a fortune just because you get a large amount of data... The average person uses maybe 2gb per month. I class myself as a heavy user with YouTube, Twitch, Snapchat etc... And I manage with 4gb. You might just as well get broadband if you're paying £36 per month for 11gb of Internet. Not to mention the prison sentence you're being locked into for 24 months by Vodafone! Their CS is terrible, some may say it doesn't exist, and their coverage isn't too great either.

I've used 80GB since the beginning of October. That's an average of 16GB per month.

I said the average person. Most people use broadband at home and data while out. There's stats to back it up. Do a search for it. I'm not saying there aren't people who use lots. I know people who tether their consoles from their phone. O2 reckon their users only use 500mb on average when questioned about their low data packages with high prices

Would have agreed a few months back, but buying a phone for £600 two weeks before they announce its successor seems a bit silly. Fair enough if it were £350.
Fair point misterleoni, well who knows, it might be a useful lead for someone. It seems to be the best price around for this model at least.

So its old tech, a poor contract and its apple? its up to you guys, but I know how I'm voting
You clearly dont have kids.
For a parent buying for a child, this is a good deal
I do, two teenagers, and a 300mb limit contract would be a joke! You clearly do not have a clue.

therudders
Also, have you ever given an out of date mobile to a teenager and said "go easy on the data" and had a positive reaction?

First, no one cares how you vote and 2nd, clearly you're the one without a clue and obviously judge others by your own selfish kids, not everyone is like you or your kind, plenty of kids out there who respect their parents wishes but you wouldn't know anything about that.

By this autumn after ip7 realise this model will be ancient, but this moment in time this does not seem bad deal if used sensibly.

Iphones are usually released in the uk in the last week of September. - eight months from now. So perhaps you would like to delay your purchase for eight months and you may be able to get the same deal with an iphone 6

Also, apple are considering releasing a cheaper version of the iphone which is smaller than the iphone 6 and this will be based upon the 5s

If your 12 year old daughter is to take this phone out of the house (to school or friends houses) then 300MB will not last a whole month and EE charge a lot when you go over data. You really need to keep a close eye on her usage of data otherwise you could be hit with a large bill from EE for excess data usage. A 12 year old girl will be on social media, youtube etc like there is no tomorrow (when out of your sight)

You cant go over your data allowance on EE
This will get interesting :)

Great deal if you can get vodaphone signal which I can't.
I ordered this phone and it arrived today. When I logged onto my Vodafone account it states that there is only 1GB of data included per month rather that the 2GB as stated on Carphone Warehouse site?? Is this right and who should I ring - Vodafone or Carphone Warehouse??

Well this deal couldn't have worked out any better for me glad carphone warehouse cancelled my orders now, just phoned vodafone up and got samsung s6 32gb £29 upfront, unlimited minutes , unlimited texts 7gb data (unlimited for first 2 months) for £21.70 per month, obviously no cashback but a better all round deal imho
Yeah, how did you manage that? Sounds too good to be true.

Patience and a lot of haggling, the guy on the phone was a bit of a nobber at first telling me no such deal exists the £21 per month for 1000 mins, unlimited texts, 2gb, i told them there was at carphone warehouse could even provide a link. Told them i was disappointed that vodafone didn't seem to want my custom anymore (two orders cancelled via carphone warehouse) He said We don't provide carphone warehouse with the phones just the airtime that is a promo they are offering.

He said this wasn't true they value my custom something must be wrong on CPW end, he started rambling on about some VEA scheme? didn't apply to me.

So he said here's the deal i can offer you samsung s632gb at £21 per month £139 upfront, 1000 minutes , unlimited texts and 2gb data (unlimited for first 2 months)

or samsung 32GB at £21.70pm (so slightly higher monthly rate) £29 upfront unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 7GB data(unlimited for first two months)

yeah i was pretty confused myself I pretty much chewed his hand off before he asked which one i wanted to go for.

Didn't even have to pay the £29 upfront it's added onto my first bill.

Picked up from in store yesterday evening. The lovely man waved £10.00 from my up front cost. After having a little play I feel quite impressed :) I had previously a Nokia Lumia 1020 , and was happy to keep this and go pay as you go. Was just too tempted by something bright new and shiny, and given the fact that this is £8.00 less than my current contract, and i get a GB extra data allowance I'm glad I did . Just hope Vodafone provides the service I expect.

It's now £23.50 per month and £50 upfront. They put the price up to make the S7 look like good value when it is released next month. Marketing con I'm afraid. Was going to go for the S6 but will now buy a different phone at a different shop. Don't like being taken for a mug.
Just got a similar deal £21/mth -voda via carphone warehouse

-1000min
-2gb data
-Unlimited texts

Waived £30 fee and also got cb £20
Total £484 (£20.16 avg per month)

Unless you just use a smartphone like a dumbphone then 500mb is really no longer sufficient to data per month in my view, 1GB is really now the minimum allowance. The 2GB looks a bargain just a pity you have to pay £29.99 upfront rather than over the 24 months contract.
1GB may be the average data allowance people use, however it doesn't mean you have to aim to use it all up XD i have 500mb and i never use it all because i turn off my data when im not using it and also avoid doing downloads as i do them at home. Just adding...i'm a teenager as well that lives on her phone XD this deal is really good and can't understand why it marked so badly.

Problem is once you you turn our data off the phone can't check Facebook/Twitter/Gmail etc so it seems pointless having a smartphone if you can only use it at home, where you can do all that on a computer/tablet.
