Waste of money battery doesn't last and hardly the strength to undo some screws.

End up using my 18v makita.
thanks op. my old Hitachi 10.8v drill I had for almost 10yr finally reached the end of its life yesterday, looks like a good replacement for lightweight screwdriver/drilling. though I decided to get it off Amazon instead in the end, they are selling one with case and extra drill bits for £36.
I also own one of these. Extremely handy, battery lasts ages and surprisingly powerful. As mentioned, the torque setting is really useful.

Excellent little screwdriver.
I've had this for some time now and it's great, I find myself reaching for this more often than not.

Wonder how they get 4 volt, don't know of any 4 volt cells or combinations that add up to 4 volt

It's a yank thing. They also describe 10.8 tools as being 12v and 18v tools as being 20v.

Great for getting a BBQ going!
I had one of those, bloody bag rotted within weeks

all good tips. flashband Is incredible stuff. I've followed the guide in the url I posted. will keep my roof going a while. its a blue grey colour. have painted the whole flat roof so looks good.
I buy this stuff from wickes, when it's on offer or wickes have a 15% promotion you can normally get it for around the same kind of price give or take, I normally buy the black as it blends better with the felt. Fill the larger splits first with wickes mastic around £8 a tin as it has thick fibres then a band over the split using the mastic to bed it in, then a few hours later will roll over the top with the flexacryl. Never failed me yet.

Similar here for just shy of £30 delivered https://www.roofingsuperstore.co.uk/product/sealacryl-acrylic-waterproofer-by-bond-it-in-grey-5kg.html. Also need flashband for a long lasting repair
Flashband? You mean seal with paint and put tape on top?
This product isn’t currently available to buy online.

No, I mean put the flashband over the split then put the fibre acrylic on top. Fibre acrylic on it's own painted over a split is only indicated for an 'emergency' seal. Its the summer weather that does the most damage as the roof is constantly expanding and contracting. The fibres in the acrylic material make it resistant to cracking but not as resistant as flashband IMO. Acrylic over flashband gives a bit of extra protection to the flashing against UV and makes the job look tidy.
remember, similar product at least 50 quid and I've seen it as much as 70. this link to wickes for a smaller tin is 45 pound. http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Acrylic-High-Perfomance-Roof-Waterproofer-4L/p/240148

Honestly - Had my Fury for a few years (bought because it was the cheapest at the time) and its worked through everything without an issue, including building a timber framed extension and cutting paving slabs (with diamond blade). Last week I went from cutting up an metal bed frame to chopping up a pine desk - the blade on this is simply brilliant. Still on the original Blade which has had a lot of abuse - but still cuts really well.
Just trying to justify buying myself a mitre saw now - after the experience with this the Evolution ones are my first choice.

They sell B stock mitre saws through their ebay outlet. Only 3 months warranty but about 2/3rds of Screwfix price. If like me you plan to use it for a big job then store it for ages until the next time then the short warranty may not be an issue but if it's for regular use then probably best buying new. Quality control (on outlet stock at least) is also awful but customer service very good at putting things right.

Don't be lazy, seed your lawn for best results!

surely its less work to throw some seed on the ground?
Bought my turf from a local turf farm, supported the local business and got supina shade and wear which is the premier league of turf for 4.50 a square metre. If on a budget though this is a good deal.
Good timing will check my local.
Sod it, looks like a trip to B&Q for me.
Don't be lazy, seed your lawn for best results! We use B&Q' own (Verve?) fast growing seed and, and I'm not joking, in 2 weeks you should have an actual lawn to walk on. oO AMAZING stuff!

It's not a bbq if it's gas! It's just a grill!! Might as well stay indoors and use your cooker!
A real bbq is a charcoal bbq. It has more flavour plus it takes dedication. As you say a gas bbq is no different than cooking the food under a hot grill in the kitchen. It is for posers !

I'd say the posers are the charcoal people, gas is so much easier to use. That said my most successful BBQ ever was a charcoal tripod one.

Be honest, charcoal or gas.....barbecue has one standard.....the food is a choice of either pretty much still raw or burnt to a crisp

there are several versions of this type. the cheaper ones don't have such thick walls, fewer reinforcing ribs and some don't have the piston closers. the pic looks to be the one that usually goes for about £100.

well mines the keter Borneo too, been outside since last year and no problems as its well sturdy...I got two.

you sure you bought the exact same one for £20 - I know B & Q do some daft deals at times, like when I bought a £400 6x6 Keter shed for £100 (that won't happen again) but this is not the bog standard smaller one, even Amazon have never sold at this price in the last year

I have the standalone drill version of this setup bought a couple of years ago for £70, with 2 batts. Ok, its not up to LXT standard of build but for £70 with 2 batts, it was a no brainer. With 2 batts, you get no down time either, as one is on charge whilst the other one is in use.

If they did the standalone for £70 like before that's a steal, but I really cant see the need for an 18v impact driver....

This kit includes better batteries, a proper Makpac case and most importantly LXT tools and under £180 including next day delivery. Much better value in my opinion.

I agree 100% the b & q offer is no comparison to this at all, and remember if your makita battery doesnt last 3 years the send it bk for a new one, or even check out non o.e.m. batteries (non branded replicas) I have the 5ah non o.e.m. x3 and so far lasted me 12 months just got to look after them.

No torque control, without another add on, so no good as a screwdriver
Neither does a screw driver but managed for years without one
Surely if cant judge how tight its doing screw,s should not be let loose with any screwdriver
So you have never ever rung off or rounded out a screw head using a non torque controlled drill or electric screwdriver, or driven it in too far?
No never had problem .don't tend to use torque settings on my drill either .still if you're amateur diy person it may be handy
It's a "half a product" with an important part missing, most suited to amateurs who can't or won't pay for a proper power screwdriver like pros use, potential buyers need to know this is missing
So your saying that pros need torque clutch amateur user's don't .seems bit **** about face to me
Nah it's just facts, you carry on as you are, you're clearly not a tradesman so can't see the need ;)
Sorry but your wrong on all count's .your clearly just amateur bodger that needs device to prevent you cocking up fitting a simple screw .Next you will be needing torque wrench for every nut and bolt other wise you will be shearing them lol.Clutch just add,s bulk to device and something else to break I don't need it as trade's man I can judge tightness

Still £12, just bought one today to annoy my neighbours who are on the BBQ spree for the past couple of days.
Thank OP picked one up today. Assembled it only to find the legs have been drilled in the wrong place therefore the thing falls to one side. Tried to reserve a replacement at B&Q however have been told that the price goes up on Monday and they are sold based on a first come first served basis. What makes this worse is that they were made in the UK so clearly buying goods made in the uk isn't necessarily a good thing!

It certainly should be - but chavs don't care.

Why should it be outright illegal?
I understand man made substances such as plastic shouldn't be burnt but things like paper and dry garden cuttings should be fine.

Apart from the stench of the stinking smoke, meaning people can't hang washing out and having to close all their windows etc, yes it's absolutely fine....

Just picked mine up from The Chester branch - they only had a few left on display so not sure if they'll have more over the weekend.

Great price and have been after one all summer. Hot from me

whats wrong with that question. if it rusts then holes appear therefore rendering it useless. as what happened to mine

They all rust. Even the more expensive ones. Aldi brand ones seems to last longest, but even then 18 months max before the bottom rusts out.

Got two of these for our house renovation to light around bifolds and between a couple of sets of French doors. . They look good, and will match our grey cladding nicely.
I'm sorry but don't think they can be compared to the LED one linked above - those are so ugly and look like they belong on an industrial estate not a residential property.
Bought this many many year's ago from B&Q (prob nearing 10 years) and put on back of house. Still works fine and no water ingress problems. Paint faded a bit now. Yes halogen bulbs tended to blow occasionally during winter months. Swapped with G9 LED bulbs and now they last for years. Will get this only because mine looks a bit tired now.
If you are illuminating a front or back-door to come in & out of etc then this will be fine. If your looking for a larger area or to scare away prowlers, then I wouldn't bother. Your looking at 200 lux for each light.

A 10w LED floodlight will put out 600 - 800 lux (depending on where you get it from).
As above, house I bought had ip44 exterior lights that were half full of water.

I have one of these and it is great! One room is our Gym and the other is a home cinema. It was quite a bit of work sorting out the foundations but well worth it for the final result.
NB Two people could put this together in a few days though we elected to have it erected when delivered (at additional cost)
Feel free to ask any questions!
rd3d2. we're looking at this project now as my son is geting older. the overall dimensions would have been perfect for a 7x3.5 pool table in the larger room, but the porch type entrance gets in the way. Do you recall if it would have been a pain to bring the door out so it was flush with the front wall of the building? thanks
I think that would be possible but I would suggest you speak to Shire to confirm.
R3D2. Not sure if you're still watching this thread. How did building regs affect your build? I note the area of this is over the 30m2 threshold. But i read you can overcome this by using recognised tradesmen to do the work.
We had the construction done by the suppliers (purchased at the same time as the cabin itself, via B&Q)
Thank you again R3D2

Really expensive - take a look at Dunster House, Warminster for a better quality log cabin at a fraction of the price.
Thanks for that m8 lots of options at what seems a much better price!
Yes, Dunster House prices do look very good...until you spec all the extras, like a better quality roof, a floor, any double glazing options. I was going to order a Vanguard from them, but by the time I specced it up the price had gone from £3300 to £5200. Admittedly, that was adding extras like internal wall & door, plus roof shingles, but even so the headline prices shift dramatically when you start to add anything on. I would also check out their feedback online (not on their site) before buying. A mate just purchased from Tuin and is delighted with the service all the way through and also the end product. I have ordered from a local company in Essex, still got a few weeks until delivery.
Who did you order from? I know almost exactly what I want, but can never find it on any of the sites. I live on the Herts/Essex border so a local supplier might be able to help.
Cheers
If you google Brentwood Garden Centre you will find the place. Tbh, it's not cheap (costs slightly more than a lot of places), but I was able to tell them exactly what I was after and have the building made to my exact specification. As I said, I haven't taken delivery yet, so can't comment on the end product, but I have no concerns as they are local and have a good rep. Another place to look at is Wrights Sheds down the A127 if you want something built to order. Good luck with whoever you decide to go with.
Thank you, I'll look them both up, they're not too far away. Crosses fingers :-)

Would you have to have planning or building consent to put a shed this size in your garden ?

from what I've read as long as it is less than 30m2 and doesnt add more than 30% of tbe original size of the dwelling vs the plot you wont need planning. There are other rules that relate to distance from boundary, combustibility and apex height. It's complex and important enough to check it out yourself.

b&q logoB&Q – The Heavy-Duty Hardware King

Richard Block and David Quayle started B&Q in Southampton in 1969 and quickly opened more stores nationwide as demand for their products grew. They delved into the home hardware and furnishing markets in the 1980s after acquisition by parent company Kingfisher and began increasing the size of their stores into the warehouse depots we see today. The next major milestone for the company happened in the 1990s when they opened stores in Taiwan and China. B&Q continued expanding in the noughties, adding more warehouses as well as opening a brand new ecommerce website as one of the first companies to jump on the internet shopping bandwagon after secure online purchasing became possible.

Shop Online at Diy.com

B&Q flogs more than 40,000 products in their warehouse stores and on their site at www.diy.com. The Find A Store function lets you enter your postcode or town, or select the option to let the site use your IP address to pinpoint your location, and the store finder will list store addresses and display an interactive Google map.

B&Q Top Product Groups and Brands

B&Q is the place to go to browse and buy all kinds of hardware products imaginable from industrial tools, hardware supplies and safety equipment to light fixtures, kitchen designs, paint and plants.

The B&Q online store helps you search via two major categories:

1) by specific room, which includes bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living area, garage, and garden;

2) by department, which is where you can search for building supplies, electrical, doors, flooring, paint, heating, plumbing, and tools.

Jump In – B&Q Kitchens

Within the major website categories, popular brands in B&Q’s online shop include:

Deals and Promotions from B&Q

You’ll spot deals, discounts, and multi-buy offers as you scroll through the product lists within all shop categories. When it comes to promotional periods like Easter and Christmas, B&Q will announce its sales events throughout the site and in the media but dedicates a permanent page on diy.com specifically for Black Friday. With the help of discount vouchers you can regularly save money at diy.com.

Ordering Products on Diy.com

If you don’t plan on ordering a lot of stuff from B&Q in the future, then there is the possibility to order as a guest, with the option to register for a B&Q account during a later stage of the checkout process. There are some member’s only benefits for signing up for a B&Q Club account, though.

For starters, every new B&Q Club member gets a discount voucher which is perfect for your first purchase. Keep buying products from B&Q and you will earn further rewards like discount vouchers that are personalised to match your spending habits and favourite product categories.

B&Q – Accepted Payment Methods

You can pay for products on diy.com using all the major credit and debit cards including Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro UK, and Maestro International. B&Q will also accept B&Q Account cards if you have one and B&Q Trade cards that offer flexible credit options and sometimes cheaper building supplies for local tradespeople.

B&Q – Delivery Costs and Times

Delivery costs for orders placed on diy.com can be confusing if you read their delivery policy. You can skip all this if you choose to shop now and collect in store. Simply order before 19:00 Monday to Friday or before 16:00 on weekend and collect your order after 12:00 the next day. You need to wait an extra day if you order after the cut off time.

But if you do opt for home delivery, here’s a brief overview of costs. For regular products, a charge of £5 applies if your total order comes to less than £50 but shipping is free if you spend more than this. Shipping for bulky products will be worked out based on size and weight. Regular and bulky products qualify for next business day delivery as long as you order before 15:00.

Cancellations and Returns at Diy.com

B&Q are generous with the returns period, giving you 45 days from delivery date to send the unused product back and get a full refund. In fact, B&Q will arrange the product collection for you, saving you from paying expensive shipping costs. Follow this two-step process to arrange a return and refund:

  1. Contact the B&Q home support team on 0333 0143357 or via email at [email protected] or even in writing to B&Q To Home Team, Torrance House, Erskine, Renfrewshire, PA8 6PA to arrange a collection.
  2. Put the products back in their original packaging ready for collection on the agreed date. The money will be put back to your account once B&Q have accepted your returned products.
  3. Get the money back into your account quicker by taking the unwanted or faulty product, along with the payment receipt and credit/debit card, to your nearest store.
  4. You can also cancel an online order before it's shipped but be quick because once your order status is shown as shipped, you'll have to wait for delivery and request a return instead.

B&Q on Social Media

B&Q have a very active presence after social media channels, sharing DIY tips, product information, how to guides, and special events on the following profiles:

B&Q’s Inspiration blog is the place to go if you are thinking about redecorating the house and not sure where to start. It offers expert articles, how to videos, tips on colour and materials, the latest design trends, and important safety information for the absolute beginner and the seasoned DIY pro.

B&Q Club App

The B&Q Club app is great if you're sick of logging into your account on the website or asking at the store checkout about any offers you qualify for. With a few taps on your smartphone, not only can you see your rewards, but also find your nearest store, watch handy product and how to videos, and get product information and customer reviews simply by scanning the barcode. The B&Q app is available for Android devices from the Google Play Store, while iPhone and iPad users can get it from the App Store.

Contact B&Q Customer Service

The comprehensive support section will likely answer any DIY or product query you might have. But if you can’t find a good enough answer, you can fill in the email support form or call the customer service team on 0333 0143098 Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 20:00, Saturday 8:00 to 17:00, and Sunday 10:00 to 16:00.
