A quick call to EE and they agreed to refund the early termination fee although this will end up showing as a negative second bill and will have to reclaim it back to get a refund.

If you read the details it's a 15GB/month @ £20 rolling 1month contract … If you read the details it's a 15GB/month @ £20 rolling 1month contract (ie presumably 30-day notice period) - ie have to pay the first £20 for month 1's 15GB (getting the device for free) but could then immediately seek to cancel before renewal for month 2. That leaves you with the MiFi device and 15GB data for £20 (or with 30GB for £40 if don't manage to cancel immediately) to re-use later with some EE data SIM, or alternatively to get it unlocked (eg eBay £1) and use with another providers data SIM/package.

If you cancel immediately "before renewal for month 2", you will be obliged to pay for the following 30 days (the notice period) plus the first 30 days service i.e. total 60 days (give or take rounding for the cyclic billing date). If you are looking to minimise the contractual obligations you need to give your 30 days notice on the day you buy the item.

Thanks OP got one of these, unlocked it for 99p.
I find that the 3G/4G switching doesn't work very well when travelling so have got it to stick to 4G and it is working great like that, just means no network if you're not in a 4G area.

Yep. I received mine yesterday and also cancelled yesterday. I phoned up EE and said I want to give 30 days notice to cancel - the guy did it there and then. No attempt to ask me why I wanted to leave, in fact he seemed pretty disinterested in the whole process really!

I went into we today and got 1. I just asked if they would price match cpw? they didn't seem to know about cpw deal and after a few convos with me and between themselves and me saying no probs will order from cpw the manager just said yeah discount it. a nice little Brucie bonus was the shop assistant messed up and put me on a 15 a month deal. lovely

When unlocked for 99p from eBay it's very happy with other network SIMs - even with the EE software!

Well earlier today I ordered an EE Buzzard but then got their email saying they needed more information and to call them otherwise order w/be cancelled in 5 days time. But when I called them to see what info, they couldn't see what 'more information' they might have wanted, but I anyway said "I want to cancel" (as decided wanted a proper MiFi with battery (eg this Osprey)) and they immediately confirmed that cancellation BUT said no email would be sent to confirm cancellation - all rather slapdash by CarphoneWarehouse!
From other people's remarks on here it's normal for EE to be quiet, but you may see something on your online a/c (if you set one up)...otherwise if you're not sure you've only your time (and blood pressure) to waste phoning EE to double-check...

I'm guessing the device is free and its 15gb data for the 30 days.

Which does look indeed a fantastic deal.

Incidentally, EE are doing the 24 month contract for the same price, no upfront cost, 15gb data but with the possibility of £50 Quidco.

Couldn't find it on the CW website itself.
Googling showed it as "This product is out of stock and cannot be ordered at this time "

That showed the CW product code 19500755 does show it up on the CW website.
Best to visit the site (potentially via a £back site) and then search for that product code (in stock again as per later posting 13/1)
    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/

So using that product code you MAY be able to track one down in a CW store (as not currently available to buy online).

    "EE E392 Mobile Broadband Dongle On EE 4G 3GB £15, 30 day "
Recognise that is only a Huawei E392 4G USB Dongle with 4G SIM in - ie without the self-powered "MiFi" functionality of sharing the link over 10 WiFi devices
... though of course you could potentially achieve that by adding say a £10'ish gizmo.... something like...
    hotukdeals.com/dea…662
but then more than £20 and not as convenient - though finding a 19500755 Osprey probably hit-and-miss in-store experience.
