Yes, CSSC members can visit all English heritage sites free of charge with the family. We have gone to Stonehenge twice now this year no questions asked just show your membership card. This is just one of the benefits of membership, a free taste card, cheap cinema tickets and various organised trips at amazing prices are the main reasons I joined (I sound like one of their salesmen perhaps I should be on commission!)

paulyh's deal is a good one. CSSC membership is £45.60 a year, which gets you 2 adults and up to 4 kids into Cadw and English Heritage sites. English Heritage is £92.50 for 2 adults (plus kids free).
Also Welsh castles with CSSC on the same 2 adults+kids for free.
But is that for all English Heritage sites?

FYI if you have a national trust membership you get reciprocal rights with some (not many, but some!) English heritage locations, such as Stonehenge. Always worth checking it out.
Also if you are joining National Trust don't! - join the Scottish NT as it is cheaper and can be used at all NT sites.
Some people will want to support the NT and the good work they do through paying membership fees.
Others will say they can't afford to go on the UK price but the Scottish/New Zealand etc reciprocal deal means they can afford to go.
Others will justify abusing the reciprocal rites as that they spend money at the tea shop and gift shop which goes into the charity coffers.
I'm sure people can decide what's right for them. I personally think supporting the National Trust in whatever country you're mainly visiting properties in is the best way forward, but I'm lucky enough to have a lifetime membership.

That's all very well, but ignores the fact that charities are meant to be set-up for a charitable purpose, but how does that work with the National Trust CEO receiving over £200K? Seems self-serving to me, and it bugs me that every NT magazine is asking for donations all the time. The National Trust would collapse without all the volunteers who run it, and the salaries of its board members sticks in my craw, so being able to reduce the membership fee by getting a Scottish, New Zealand or Gambian one, is all okay as far as I'm concerned.
paulyh
If you join CSSC (you would need to check the website to see if you are eligible for membership) then you get free membership of English Heritage and Cadw for you and your family.

Looks like you get Stonehenge included as well! :)

Yeah its free. They just wave the entry fee for those days. Went last year to the transport museum in Manchester with 6 of us. Normally about 4 quid a ticket I think.

We just bought a few things inside, so we atleast give something back

As long as the other person pays full price admission, no one needs to be a member of English Heritage.
We went to Wrest Park today, and just paid for one adult, the other was free. Just needed to print the voucher on the link.

This voucher entitles the bearer to one complimentary adult, concession or child admission when accompanied by an existing English Heritage Member or full price adult admission.
Which is why it's a deal, not a freebie.
This should be moved to deals as it's not strictly a freeby when you have to pay full price before you get a second free

There should be a legitimate way around this. How do you fancy actually changing your name to George or Georgina for the day? You can change your name by deed poll very easily and right back again just as easily. I happen to create deed polls for people, which are quite possibly the cheapest and quickest available to buy on the internet. In under 2 days, I can create a personalised deed poll for you, which you'll be emailed to print off straight away (as many times as you like - whereas other companies will charge extra for extra copies) and all you have to do is sign it and get a witness (anybody over 18 - doesn't have to be a solicitor) to sign it to make it a legal document. I have actually used one of my own myself to properly change my name and it's been accepted everywhere I've tried - banks, educational institutions, the council etc. If you really think about it, when the big companies that sell deed polls, sometimes for £30 just for one, are charging you just to print it and post it to you. You can cut that cost considerably by buying it from me and printing it off yourself. I currently sell these on a site for $5 (don't worry, people from the UK can still buy it), that works out at about £3, which is paid over Paypal. Ordinarily this is for one (which in itself is an amazing deal considering the equivalent prices from the big companies), but I will create two deed polls for the price of one so you can take advantage of this deal if you quote 'THRIFTYFREEBIES' when ordering before the end of the week. So, you'll get one to change your name to George or Georgina and another one that changes it right back again. All legally. You can buy it here: http://www.fiverr.com/geekythrifter/create-a-deed-poll-for-you-to-change-your-name

Lmfao...joined just to advertise that?!?

Adios amigo!

I dont get this. You buy the card and still need to pay to get in? What is with these 50% discounts I thought you got free entry with the card.

All 400 English Heritage sites are free

The one's listed above are not English Heritage sites but offer discounts to English Heritage members.

"English Heritage members are entitled to free or reduced price entry to over 100 associated attractions in England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man.
These visitor attractions are all independent of English Heritage and offer a variety of different discounts to English Heritage members. Please call or visit the website before you visit to confirm the offer details.
A current English Heritage membership card must be produced for each member. "
