I had one of these for a few years. They are great, but be warned that once the battery goes on these then they are pretty much useless.

I just wish the product was designed to use the phones battery instead.

I believe you can use a power bank to supply power to the Flir while using it. Did you try this at all?

I've returned 2 of these to Amazon for refunds over the past year or so. One refused to connect to the software and the other just wasn't very good so replaced with a Topdon TC001 which was on offer and has higher resolution. They must get a lot of returns. (edited)

So we're buying your used units?

I looked into these recently because I wanted to see where our house was leaking heat. In summary the cheap ones like this are usually extremely low resolution, to the point of being near useless - like 20 pixels by 15, something like that. You need to be spending a few £hundred to get something that will be useful for most applications, and that was too much for me. That said, I don't know about this specific one - but I'd recommend looking into the reviews and checking the product specs carefully before purchase. See also FatherTed's comment in this thread too. And if you want it temporary to check heat loss from your house, check your local authority or energy supplier, many have schemes where they'll lend you one for a week for nothing or a token charge. Not mine unfortunately!

These are the expensive ones, check how high the prices are for the Flir range (it's only the Amazon warehouse ones that are cheap) Flir is a very good Swedish brand, the resolution isn't high, i realise that (edited)

Winter (low temps) is when you will see heat loss with these. So don't expect magic until it is cold again.

Get a TOPDON TC001, much much better resolution, I have one and recommend it.

+1 for TopDon. Bought a while back for about this price (on offer) at Ebay.

I paid around £150 for it, and I'm happy with it. It helped me check the windows to seal them properly during last winter.

How did you seal them? Think I got a couple I need to do that with..

I’m sure there’s other brand that have a better thermal resolution for similar price

Topdon were hovering at a price a little more than this a few times in recent 12 months. They're more comparable to the flir pro though, arguably better.

I've used one of these, the app was rotten, there was a paid for third party one that was superior.

If you need to use one a lot then you're best buying something better, if you just need a quick use then you're better hiring or borrowing.... Or buying, trying and returning this because of how shoddy the software is 🙈

Only iOS available at this price

I have this built into my CAT mobile. It’s been more useful than I thought it would be. A used S62 pro maybe worth a look for some?
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
Why are you using a cat as your mobile? Is that even legal?

Not an Octopus customer but those that are and have loaned one from them, is this the same model or a different one?
    Vomit's avatar
It was this model. I borrowed one and it did the job. I wouldn't recommend buying one though, the unit I had was extremely temperamental.

Thanks cbflazaro for finally adding the very low resolution 80 x 60.
Topdon tc001 was £165 ebay january -the deal has been removed , send email for reason ??

This is one of the devices where you'd be surprised at what mischief can be had other than it's intended use.

Borrowing this from octopus, I didnt like the dynamic scaling and ability to fix the scale. I'd spend a bit more or try another better value brand (edited)
