They must be sh*** for that price. I always get mine from a shop in birstall. A chap called Abdul sorts mea good tree out and if he isn't there his assistant Sam is good too
Friend got one this morning and said it was a lovely tree. Glad you've got a reliable supplier.
Well good for him. Sorry if I offended someone for buying from a British business
Can you categorically state that Abdul does not direct some or all of his profits back to another country the same as IKEA do? I hear Western Union do a roaring trade in Birstall this time of year
He might. But he does buy his food from the uk shops and am sure his water comes from a uk supplier as does his council tax. Do you want me to carry on?

I bought this about a year ago for my daughter to use. I bought it because of the high height it could be adjusted to. Its fine for the money but the tube the adjusting pin goes through wears very quickly, the hole widens and the seat becomes very wobbly. As I said, fine for the money but don't expect too much.

Thank you for the advice, she's had an old Whirlpool for about 10 years (itself bought second hand, which I think is quite impressive!) and it hasn't missed a beat until fairly recently, when it started not rinsing as thoroughly and smelling of burning rubber on the fastest spin speed... oO Have a feeling the burning smell is the drive belt, which I think is fairly cheap and easy to replace (?), but no idea what's causing the poor rinsing.

Might go for a Beko, although what do you think of the Samsung Ecobubble currently on the front page? Also looking at second hand Mieles, given that they can be had fairly cheaply and seem to last forever - the old machines certainly seem more reliable than the modern ones, not sure if that's because of built in obsolescence or the fact they have more parts in them to go wrong.
Hi, just sent reply . . . see above post. X)
Re Whirlpool, belts are fairly cheap and easy enough to fit.

Re; rinsing.
I assume you've already checked drainage filters and water pump for blockages?

First, do a smaller wash and DO NOT use any detergent, do this two or three times and keep an eye on the rinse performance. Sometimes the machine is clogged and sometimes we put too much washing in (sometimes too much detergent too).

Maybe have a look at the water valve (delivers water to the machine), and check for loose, blocked, kinked or disconnected inlet hoses, look also at electical wires for loose, broken or burned out wires.
Failing that it could be either a broken or malfunctioning water temperature switch, or the washer timer.

Older washing machines were built to last - newer ones not so.
If you can get the Whirlpool up and running again it may be a better option than buying new.

Re, the Samsung, personally not keen, read a lot of negatives on websites such as UK Whitegoods.co, re reliabiltity, repair problems, customer service problems seem to be a big problem on forums, so all in all I'm not keen on Samsungs.
In saying that, almost all the top ten machines rated by Which magazine are Samsungs, and I know good friends who have them and they love them.
I believe they are all direct drive and that's fine on a solid (perhaps concrete) floor, but I would strongly advise against using on suspended floors.

Cheapest and best option at the moment in Which Mag's best buy washing machines is Zanussi ZWF91283W, if you can get it at £300 or less you're doing well - good value for the money.
None of the Beko's are Best buys and those that come close (but still miles off) are priced the same as the best buy Zanussi above.
If you really want a cheap okayish Beko this one fits the bill; Beko WMB91233LW, don't pay more than £220 for it.
tryn2help
Mieles are heavier because they're made with cast iron weights rather than concrete - better built, more precise, more effective, but yes, blinkin heavy. X)
The guarantees aren't so very good these days, Miele are quite threatening re 'there may be a call out charge if engineer deems call out avoidable' - what?
Nevertheless, Miele are still miles ahead of the rest imho.
Guarantees on lesser machines are also worded in such a fashion as you're not always getting what you think you're getting.
This Renlig is good for what you're paying - wouldn't worry about the rinsing - which say that about a lot of machines - they're just super fussy. :)
If you can't afford a Miele it may make sense just to get a Which rated Beko (standalone) at a cheap price, rather than forking out for a middle to high end non-miele.

Affordable, well-designed furniture for every size of home at IKEA

IKEA was established in 1943, by Ingvar Kamprad; the unusual name is an acronym, representing the founder’s initials, along with those of the house and town where he grew up, Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd. The business initially dealt with mail orders, but began opening physical stores in the 1950’s. These were joined by international IKEA branches from the 1960s. Now there are nearly 400 stores around the globe and in 2008, IKEA was confirmed as the world’s biggest furniture shops. They keep prices low by asking customers to be part of the retail process, in that their role is to assemble the flat packs of furniture that IKEA is famous for.

Where to Shop for IKEA Furniture

IKEA have a well-organised retail website where most items are available to purchase online. For access to every product in their range, you’ll have to visit one of their 21 UK shops. To find your closest branc, click on “Your Local IKEA Store“ on their website and then select a location for more information.

What’s on Offer at IKEA?

IKEA organise their website into a number of different departments, so that shoppers can easily navigate to the products they need:

  • Outdoors – The IKEA garden furniture collection includes tables, chairs, sofas and parasols. There are items to suit larger spaces and smaller balcony or patio areas.
  • Living Room – As well as comfortable seating, the IKEA living room section has TV stands, media storage cabinets, side tables, and lighting.
  • Bedroom – Shop here for bedroom storage, beds, plus mattresses and duvet covers, along with king-size, single, and double bedframes. They also have a range of lighting solutions and mirrors.
  • Bathroom – This section includes everything you’d need for the bathroom, from towels and flannels, to mirrors and toothbrush holders. There are also large items like wash stands and basins for bigger projects.
  • Kitchens – IKEA enable their customers to design the layout of a kitchen then choose cabinets, worktops and storage to complete the bespoke look. You can also find smaller items like trolleys, knife holders and containers to organise the space you have.
  • Storage – If you need to tidy up and pack away day to day items, clothing or a collection of articles, then this is the perfect place to start. From sturdy plastic under bed boxes, to cardboard containers and glass jars for little odds and ends, it’s all here.
  • Dining – From intimate dining solutions to larger tables for big families, this category has it all. Choose from sturdy wooden chairs, stackable stools, cafe type furniture, plus a selection of eating and drinking accessories.
  • Children – In this area you can find pieces of furniture that are designed with younger users in mind. There are coordinating sets to furnish an entire room, rugs, bedding and toy storage systems. You can also shop for curtains, toys and pin boards.
  • Textiles and Rugs – Here you can find textiles that can be cut to a specific length for personal projects, as well as a variety of rugs, curtains, cushion covers and bedding. There is also table linen and fixings for attaching curtain rods or rails.
  • Home Office – For people who work from home, IKEA have a section dedicated to desks, chairs and media organisers. There are cable management boxes, bins, lights and laminate flooring, to complete the effect.

Saving Money at IKEA

IKEA have a regular summer and winter sale, during these periods selected products or ranges are reduced by up to 50% in store. They also reduce the price of discontinued stock and seasonal products, like those promoted during Christmas and summer. Sometimes discounts are specific to each store. They also send out vouchers in the post and via e-mail for IKEA Family Card members, which can only be used in store.

Placing an Online Order and Being Part of the IKEA Family

When you order items from www.ikea.com you can choose to log in to your personal account or continue with the process as a guest. After you’ve entered your details, you can then choose to register as a member, if you wish. Joining the IKEA Family scheme has a number of benefits, you are entitled to discounts in the cafe, some products are reduced and at certain times of year you can win prizes each time you swipe your card. You’ll also be invited to workshops and events held in store. IKEA have a new catalogue each season whichcontains details on each available range. Complimenting this, there are separate catalogues for Kitchens, Wardrobes, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, and IKEA Business. These are available to view online or to pick up in store. There is also an extensive digital brochure with interactive content, tips and ideas.

How to Pay for an IKEA Order

As methods of payment in their online shop at ikea.com, IKEA accepts Maestro, MasterCard, IKEA Business Card, Visa, Visa Electron and Delta.

Wonderful Everyday Life with IKEA

Delivery options from IKEA

IKEA deliver to most parts of England, Scotland and Wales.  To see if you are eligible for delivery, use their Postcode checker.

You can choose between two options when you’d like IKEA to deliver your order. The first is Parcel Delivery which is used to send items weighing up to 25kg. This service costs £7.50 and is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and is provided by Parcel Force. However, if you order a range of smaller items, they could have a combined weight of 100kg so please be aware of possible charges.

Many of the items IKEA deliver are large, so as part of their Truck Delivery service, they will bring your purchase in to any room in your home. Truck Delivery charges start from £35, but vary depending on your postcode; the actual price is worked out during the ordering process. Within 72 hours of your order being placed, IKEA will tell you when they’ll be delivering your goods. If you provide a mobile number, you can also expect a text message to confirm the date.

Returning Unwanted Items to IKEA

You can return faulty or unwanted goods to IKEA within 365 days, even if the item is assembled. It does need to be in a resaleable condition however. To get a refund from IKEA here’s what you need to do:

  1. Contact IKEA and explain that you’d like to return an item.
  2. They will instruct you to either send it back through the Post Office or arrange a courier to pick it up
  3. If you cancel the whole order within 14 days of receipt, your delivery costs will be refunded.
  4. The refund will be credited back to the original payment source.

Alternatively, take the item back to an IKEA store, along with your proof of purchase. Your refund will be credited to the card you paid on.

Keeping Up with the Latest from IKEA Online
