sorted bybackup-utility.com/fre…tml - Aomei Backupper, free for personal use, I have used it for cloning boot drives. It's quick & easy and allows resizing.

Top Notch Controller = Great
128 MB ram = great for a 120gb card
Toshiba Nand = Fine
Not happy in the slightest its TLC they state that its MLC on the website
Still a super drive for the price, just a shame about the TLC
This is made by PNY
Nanya 128M DDR3L 1600 11-11-11

Your laptop probably has SATA 2 which has half the transfer rate of SATA 3

'MM5FB' does work and discounts to £23.74.
It'll automatically activate if it's just the drive you're changing, it's only when you start changing processors and motherboards that you need to call Microsoft to transfer keys
Just download the Windows 10 .ISO and create a bootable USB. Install it and when prompted for a product key, skip it that step, once installed Windows 10 will automatically activate because of the original digital entitlement you received when you had Windows 10 previously. Windows 10 for this purpose, considers the same motherboard, the same machine.
Partition wizard is pretty good, I found I needed to reduce the size of the HDD partition to just below the size of the SSD size. Once cloned you can then resize it, or partition the Ssd in 2 if you need it. I left the c (system partition) at around 60gb which should be more than enough for windows. Any media like photos films and music I put to the d partition as they are also backed up elsewhere, so makes imaging the system for restore purposes much faster.
This will clone your current disk onto the SSD (as long as your current storage does not exceed 120GB):
partitionwizard.com/fre…tml
Its free.
If you use the SSD migrate or simply the disk copy (instead of individual partition copy), you can move all the partitions at once (clone the entire disk). You will be asked whether you wish to:
1] stretch/shrink the partitions to fit new disk proportionally,
2] leave current partition sizes and leave an unused area (which you can resize an individual partition using this software)
3] shrink the partitions to smallest size possible (not recommended)
There is no need to mess about organising the partitions yourself. Use Option 2 if you want control. This will clone the partitions sizes on your current disk. Then resize the partition you wish to add the extra space (or create another partition).
If you want the quickest route, simply choose option 1].
Just be aware that once you've chosen the option, you need to click the 'Apply' button on the top menu bar to confirm the instructions.
Good point, all the systems I've upgraded so far have had drivers available so I hadn't considered this. Windows updates always install a sound driver that doesn't work on my laptop, which is annoying and requires the manufacturers driver to be reinstalled, but apart from that it's been smooth sailing.

Can you post your crystaldiskmark results please.
Sweet! Thanks for the info. Now in the process of backing up my system drive in lieu of item delivery.
BTW does anybody have any recommendation for hard drive clone software for a windows 8.1 enterprise install. Preferably with resizing options. Cheers in advance.
Cheers. Looks just the doohickey, I was searching for. X)
that code no longer seems to work....just tried it....still, £24.99 not too bad, it's also in their Ebay shop at same price
Ha yes, apologies on my part! You are quite right, I thought it was SATA 3 but it's not
Is that good?
Yeah, I've just been researching the two controllers. Can't find any reviews that mention the Phison. Is it a new revision of the Adata SSD. My google skills aren't the best
It's possible S10 refers to PS3110-S10, see here, not guaranteed to be the controller though, just a guess by me >

MLC as well with over 3000 writes endurance
Will pop it open when it comes and post the controller chip and nand type

why would you pay more for a TLC solution
TLC should be cheaper not more..
Its a nobrainer which to choose
Good deal, but I think I'm going to hang out for a deal on one of the 250gb Samsung SSD's due to extra size, performance and warranty period.
Still hot though.
Yeah, Thats my thought process. I Already have 2 extra HDD's for uplay, steam, origin. I have my steam user data on C: which i'm going to back up. This should make the system drive footprint smaller. Thanks for the tip regarding the smaller clone size, I'll bare that in mind. I'll check out Partition Wizard too. Cheers.
You have been warn
Aghh, don't do this for Windows 10. It uses a generic key system: pcworld.com/art…tml
If you input a generic key during the install, it'll actually try to activate that as a "real" key. It can cause some weird issues.
Simply install 10, skip the key, and it'll activate automatically on that machine if it's ever had 10 on before.
Cheers for the instructions and url.
If you took the Win10 free upgrade then your key is generic and there's little point in extracting it.
To reinstall, use Rufus to make a bootable USB from the official Win10 ISO from above link. When installing and prompted to input product key you should click skip both times. Windows 10 then activates on connection to t'internet.
If anything goes wrong you may have to place a call to Microsoft, however they've generally been very helpful on the rare occasions I've called them. Good luck.
