You are rating the deal, not based on your taste buds.

Every TV, food product, item of furniture and everything else I don't like, whether a good deal or not to others, I'll be sure to vote cold.

    Cheers.

I completely disagree. The point of this website is to vote on deals … I completely disagree. The point of this website is to vote on deals based on FACTS. Is it a deal or isnt it?Deal6. Informal A sale favorable especially to the buyer; a bargainThis does not have a mention of an opinion or personal preference. You cannot say it is opinion based becase if it were, hundreds of good deals that are very relevant to probable thousands of users on the site would be missed(and sometimes are), simply because they did not suit the masses on the site. The fairest way to use the site is to vote on a post based on whether or not it is a deal using the definition above, because it would be very selfish to let your own opinion of a product cloud the fact that as a deal, that it is hugely beneficial to other site users.Thats my thoughts anyways, and like you Mr Onion, I like a good debate on things.

Glad its not just me, otherwise we may as well call this place hotUKopinions. Just look at the chicken threads 'Ooh its not free range, ooh its not corn fed' yet none can ever come up with a better deal. Different products, different prices. I regularily vote hot for things I think are rank, because they are a great deal for those that like that sort of thing. I do not think my opinion of an item should stop someone else getting a good deal on it.

It probably means that someone has been sloppy at your Tesco. For accounting purposes, so as to not make it look like they have high wastage costs Tesco reduce things to 1p that they have discontinued and are about to throw out. When these items are reduced to 1p they are meant to be disposed of immediately, staff are meant to ensure customers do not buy these items. Sometimes they forget to remove them from the shelves so you get an item at a bargain of 1p but it won't be a national deal for two reasons..

    1. Almost every other Tesco store will have disposed of them.

    2. Depending on the size and location of the shop some may not have discontinued the line.

Tesco are ruthless with the space, a product must make a certain profit per cubic foot of shelf space, if it does not it is dropped thrown out and replaced with a different product.

Does this sauce contain actual Jamie Oliver pieces? If not then I'm afraid I'm going to have to vote cold and possibly expire for such a misleading picture.

ps. I have not tried the sauce. I am just arguing for arguments sake.

    ...and i voted hot.

Sad aint it, we all grew up eating more salt than this yet we're fine. I mean, they even reduced the salt in Pot Noodles FFS, who cares if they are unhealthy?!?!?!

I dont know what is going on - recently for example you could put a 40" TV on for a tenner and people would just moan it doesnt have 2 gazillion HZ!

Especially in the summer when the chooks are giving us 7 a day!May have a dabble at various other pickles too at this rate.

Fine deal if you can get it. Wish the moaners would either post some useful reasons as to why its a cold deal (like the high salt content post) or stop posting the "its cr*p" mindless comments which help no one.

Unless you can find the same product for cheaper, I can't see your point? Lung cancer at 5p may well be a good deal, if other places want £50k worth of fags to be smoked first. Your personal opinion of the product is not the opinion of others, and its a little up yourself to think yours is worth more to people than their own. This is a deals site, not a gastronomy one.

Absolute madness! Most things for 1p is a good deal - its a branded product that is edible!

Its a jar of pasta for christ sake ! 1p is a complete bargain. If it was a jar of lloyd grossman for 1p it would again be a great bargain. but then those who didn't like them would complain. as someone else said, your rating the deal , ie: price of the product , not the actual product its self get a grip ! I'm sure most of you only come on here for banter half the time !

Can you post more details please? Like the exact name of the product is and a barcode please? Thanks for taking the time to post this, not everyone has the luxury of being well off and even if it's not the best it'll be better than I can make for a penny!

Sor example I picked up a load of coffee months ago for a penny a bag at tesco, not my favourite but I've paid much more for much worse coffee in the past.

Not tried it so can't comment BUT still think its good of OP to post it.

There must be people out there who like it and use it otherwise they wouldnt still be making it. Sure some of those people will be on here so this could be a great post for them

Alternatively, there will be others who may have just not tried it or been put off by the price & will now try it.

Each to their own. I think apple products are overpriced, underspecced garbage in a shiny case, but I don't feel the need to say this every time a deal for them is posted. 1p for pasta sauce is great, heat added. None in my store though, its a discontinued line.

Staff must be"sloppy" at most stores then as my 2 local tesco had stock of it and most
of my friends who I have told have managed to get some at their local stores

I keep hearing this, yet the staff at my local seem hell bent on putting up big signs saying 1p. Some are there for weeks, like the Schwartz onion bits, and they even go to the hassle of putting yellow labels on them. Why bother when a simple removing the stock from the shelf would solve the problem?

The manager on the fresh section tells me that all 1p items are to get them out of the store, as they don't want the shelf taken up with items that must otherwise be disposed of. According to him its a way of not only ensuring their wastage figure is down, but also getting customers to remove the products rather than them paying to have them disposed of. Also if customers think there may be the odd 1p item around they may pay more attention to the shelves, thus buying more stuff.

1p items simply mean Tesco no longer plan to sell them, and removing those items from their shelves actually saves them money.
