Is this any kind of replacement for good old FastTracker etc, or more akin to learning to play guitar via Guitar Hero et al?
It supports midi keyboards and VSTs so its pretty powerful. Nothing like guitar hero as it's a proper DAW :)

I've been running the 2013 version for a while so hopefully this is a bit of an upgrade.

Tried this but all I got was a coupon for 10 pounds.
By the way, 2016 version is available for free download without a key:http://www.magix.com/gb/music-maker/

I got two emails, one with the coupon and one with a serial number.

The 2016 free version is 8 tracks and 1 soundpool whereas this 2015 free version is 16 tracks and 3 soundpools. It also gave me the option to install a pack of additional sounds and instruments.

Had a play around and it seems brilliant for free!

Comes up in German for me and I cannot find a way to translate (Chrome translate says it is already english..). Want to vote hot!
I don't speak or understand german but from my understanding this is what they are translated or near enough.
Herr/Frau - Mr/Mrs
Vorname - First name
Nachname - Surname
Straße - Street
PLZ - Postal code
Ort - Place
E-Mail-Adresse - Email address
Passwort - Password
Once you register you get the code emailed to you. I've had a quick play around with it and it's easy enough to use.
EDIT - As what the post above says really.
Much appreciated jyonda, thank you

Edit: All working, downloading now. I also found out the password needs a number and a capital letter to be accepted.

No linux support :(

What did you expect?

I wonder how this compares with a big software like FruitLoops. It sounds more easy or simplified.

FL is in another league. I have a lot of respect for Magix (who also make proper DAWs like Samplitude and Sequoia). In fact their's was the first music software I ever used (all those years back - sigh).
For me it is a little too simplified but free is free.
Its worth noting that there should also still be free versions of Acid and Studio One but lacking VST support.
I wanna try this... thank you :)
fantastic find op
not used this for years but used to enjoy it back in the day
looking forward to seeing how its changed

heat and thanks

Thanks OP. My Son is just getting into vide editing and he has always wanted this software, but it was too expensive and i woukdn't allow him to download the hooky version.
Apparently this is used by many YouTubers, which is what sparked his interst.
Fantastic deal!

I already stated it works, I have it and available till the end of the month.

Sorry didn't mean to ignore your posts, I just wanted to clarify again. I meant that it works without actually getting the email, which is what I really wanted to confirm

So I've taken a good look and found the offer. The link doesn't work if I post it here, but if you scroll down it's in this forum thread: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/showmessage.asp?messageid=947356
People from the UK bought it and it worked. When you go through the checkout process, this message appears near the end:

"Please note: Except for downloads (like download versions or encoders), we currently accept orders only from the United States and Canada!
MAGIX cannot ship to P.O. Boxes and/or APOs. Orders from Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii are subject to additional shipping charge"

So it seems like it should work perfectly if you choose the download version. $200 is about £150ish, so the offer works. I'll probably buy soon, but the offer is only until 31st July, so it won't last long.
