Sadly this isn't a gift card but a voucher that you cant use in drinks or at the weekend. It's a shame as I love Mal and HDV
This used to be a great deal...as when they first did this you could spend it on Sunday Lunch; but they have now excluded that which is a real shame. By the way, if people have never had Sunday lunch at Malmaison or HdV I would strongly recommend it - it is fantastic!!!

Thank you! Just booked Glasgow for wedding anniversary 29th Dec.

4 of us stayed there last month for 2 nights, worse nights sleep ever! we had one room above the bar/nightclub so kept them awake until 1am whereas our room overlooked Pitt street (where the old police station is) & it was constant boy racers from 7pm until 5am! hotel have been aware of this problem for over 9 years but nothings happened.

Yes, I saw this on TA. Have requested room at back and fingers crossed for no Thursday night parties! Cheers :)

With regards to food. Watch out for hidden costs. Steak sauces. Sides etc. Me and the wife have done this at Edinburgh and Newcastle. We tried to spend it on the bar but you have to buy a meal. Eat something and take drinks to the bar. Bottle of Wine, bucket of beer...

Yes Malmaison site says spend it in the bistro. Interestingly the small print on the Hotel du Vin website says 'food and drink in the Bistro or Bar on a Sunday evening (between two), then the room rate is from £25* per room'. Either they have made a typo R you can spend it all in the bar there??
What's with all the negativity. This is a great deal, especially if you happen not to be at work on the Monday anyway. £25 for a room! No breckie admittedly. But spend £75 on food and drink and the food is pretty good. Just drink in the bar otherwise. Mal Liverpool is great, so is Leeds and Manchester is pretty good too

for the love of God don't stay at the Glasgow one!
we went last month for 2 nights & it was awful. basic room that doesn't warrant the high prices & the worst part was we couldn't get any sleep due to the constant noise of boy racers (something the hotel, council & police have been aware of for 9 years!) which started at 7pm & ended at 5am!
I will remember that, Edinburgh and Newcastle's are very impressive, Newcastle's is probably the best located hotel in the city,

Bit confused by this as I can't find anything under £89 for Edinburgh or Glasgow. Gone right through to Apr 17. Even checking on the specific dates/locations in the original post gets me rooms at double the price stated above.

You need to make sure you're clicking through with the link. Try this one: https://www.malmaison.com/offers/rooms/it-pays-to-be-forward/

Or go to menu > our offers > room packages > choose 'it pays to be forward' to get the £40 offer.

ive just checked for edinborough in may (not the bank hoildays) and its 400 quid for the weekend
Just booked a £35 room. Was tempted with a superior room, but just went with the standard double. But when your confirmation goes through you get the chance to upgrade at a reduced price. So on a Malclub room it would be £45 instead of £50. So you could save on the superior room by just initially booking a standard room then upgrading after.

Hope this helps someone, cheers Madcow
Is it only for the cities listed in OP? Desperately need one in London for April.
Also available April May and June.

This £35 deal is for Sunday nights only I'm afraid.
Ahh! Any way/promo code I could get a similar price for the day after (Mon 9 Nov)? Really desperate for a well-priced room for that night :(

I can't link the whole url but try Trivago for the hotel name and then sort it so that it will also list the prices of hotels nearby (sort by distance). For e.g. Hatters is £49

These hotels are usually over 100 quid on their own. Then you get 75 quids worth of drinks. This site is for good deals. For all you know, there could be people on here who often stop at Malmaison hotels even on Sundays and regularly spend quite a bit on drinks. This is a good deal when compared to Malmaison's usual price. Regardless of whether you could feed your family for a year on 10p -

Maybe, but the sort of person who'd spend over £100 on a room only deal on a Sunday probably wouldn't be on a deals site like this!

that is why they are on sites like this

Good deal IMO. Not difficult to spend £75 on a decent meal and it's a nice place and the food is good. Hot

Are you serious? My missus and I could eat well for a fortnight for £75!

The title of this thread needs amending - the deal is £100 for a one night stay in a chain hotel on a night when few poeple would want to stop anyway. Not really that good when you phrase it like that is it?

Agreed it doesn't sound that good when you don't even mention 75 quid worth of drinks included in the 100 quid price.

brilliant deal

id booked the glasgow one for the 23rd for £105 - now cancelled it and got the £49 instead, booked edinburgh too for the 29th!
Cheers Op.

The family and I are up in the 'Pool for Xmas. My two boys will stay with Nanna, while the wife and I have a couple of days in the Albert Dock, Liverpool One etc - good to be staying a few hundred metres away.

Got the £1 Campanile deal last year, but this deal is very good.

Looks like the Malmaison is not an pre-pay booking either, meaning I can cancel if for some reason the trip goes belly up.
I checked today (now the deal is officially launched) and there is still some availability in a variety of locations.
birmingham is coming up at £180

its £25 - so a room is £100....if you spend less they increase the room rate to make up the difference - eg you spend £75 on the meal you room is £25...if you spend £65 then the room is £35 - bit dumb as you may as well order something light or another drink
also you have to pay the 10% service charge on the meal- why i ask? should be optional
so the room rate is really £107.50, hmm its ok for a good hotel and a meal for 2 but not great

I work for Malmaison and have had to discontinue this, as it's not a promotion we particularly want banded around here there and everywhere. When we do a promotion, it's because it's for that company and their customers and we have agreements in place.

If you're ever looking for deals with us, please look on our website or call our reservations department.

I must admit to having a quiet chuckle at this reply (if it is indeed genuine, lol)

Sky has a good few million households subscribing - and probably around 80% of HDUK users have Sky - so would benefit from the offer anyway.

If Malmaison have indeed pulled this deal, it would be a major PR footbullet disaster for them - as there will be a lot of angry Sky subscribers who will no doubt feel it is a 'bait and switch' tactic.

Let's face it. Malmaison are hardly anything special nowadays, and I doubt they are running on full occupancy (otherwise they wouldn't need to push discount deals with Sky)

Hot stuff Glasgow Mal and Pixies later in Glasgow

Hot Hot Hot
Well I think this is a cracking deal if, like me, you like to treat yourself to a nice hotel and good food every now and again. I ate in Hotel du Vin last weekend and I can honestly say it was the best dinner I've ever had. So I'm excited about the idea of going back and pretty much staying overnight for free (£10 5* hotel stay = free in my opinion!!!!!). Thanks. Heat added (never too late to add a bit of heat!)
Besford;5133225
Agree with some comments here. After a couple of years of reviewing this site and finding several great deals I've recently tried to post some of my own as something of a 'payback'. It's a depressing experience and I wonder why I've bothered. It starts with wrestling with the site itself (no easy reference to rules and mechanisms), then got incorrectly 'spammed' (deleted) because someone who posted a similar (but poorer) deal didn't like it - mod reinstated but a fantastic deal was dead by then. Next one got deleted because the vendor (a big national name) apparently is barred! Another posting went cold when it hadn't been read properly. Some comments are downright ignorant too.

I may give it another go sometime but I'm starting to think it's not worth the effort. I can just take without giving back.

Now I have an 'infraction' for another attempt at a post for a vendor the site apparently doesn't like. Says I should know but how am I supposed to know this? I don't even know what an 'infraction' is or the significance of it.

I despair. Have I accidentally entered some sort of private club where I'm unwelcome? Clearly the only safe thing is to take and not give.

VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for words of encouragement, I've certainly not been put off posting again! Have a good day all!
MrShed;5142416
Guys, people dont "crush first posts" - dont be so cynical.

People vote what they feel to be cold deals cold.

This offer, at best, has a limited appeal, and it isnt exactly a scorching deal.

Rather than blame the site/the people/your mother, accept that the deal, while good for you, might not be good for the majority of others, hence the cold votes.

From my personal perspective, its lukewarm at best. I would have a serious issue paying £75 for a meal at Malmaison - been before, and its seriously overpriced and not all that great quality.

That said, looking at it from a £85 for dinner and bed (I assume no breakfast), for a top quality hotel, it does start to look more attractive.

Let's leave my mother out of this!

Your last line sums it up so, rather than vote cold, if it's not for you just leave it alone. Its appeal will be limited but for those it suits it is actually quite a good deal when properly weighed up. Now it's been killed by multiple cold voters (without any word of explanation) it won't even be seen by the majority who review the hot deals.

I'd much rather see (and maybe ignore) this than wade through hundreds of CD/DVD listings which save 2p! (but I don't vote them cold either, just leave them to those who are interested and move on).

I used a voucher a couple of months ago at a Hotel Du Vin in Brum, no worries there very nice place (classy) food was top notch, staff were fine.

Think I may try the Malmaison in Brum now.

Don't see why you should be worried about using a voucher? The company are inviting you to use it? The staff will expect people to come in and produce a voucher so I can't see why they would be funny with you in fact quite the opposite. They have issued these vouchers to tempt people in to there restaurants/hotels in these credit crunched times so please guys NO SHAME! Just go and enjoy yourself on the cheap in true HUKD fashion!

Thats all true, think I just wanted reassurance - thanks!
Always wanted to try the one in Machester and now I can...thanks

Great Find Looking for somewhere in Newcastle this Saturday

Thanks,

You'll still be looking for somewhere to eat then...it EXCLUDES Saturday nights..........
I used this voucher in January in Poole - setting was great, treated like royalty and the food was wonderful. We recommended to friends and they had exactly the same experience, waitied on hand and foot and food was tip-top. Has to be the best bargain for a long time. I'll be going again! Heat and rep added for finding!

I used a voucher a couple of months ago at a Hotel Du Vin in Brum, no worries there very nice place (classy) food was top notch, staff were fine.

Think I may try the Malmaison in Brum now.
