Oh dear, you had me convinced up until the last bit
I honestly don't think you should be giving other users advice, you clearly don't know what you're talking about and are just misleading people...
Back on topic though, Medion seems to be one of those brands a bit like Acer was years ago and they're come on a lot since then.
*The Medion processor is better
* The Medion RAM is better
* The Medion HD has more space (is better)
* The Medion has a dedicated graphics card whereas the Asus uses a shared graphics card (Medion better)
* The Asus has a better build than the Medion
* The price for the Medion is £50 more
So - I'd go for the Medion
Hope that helps

As for people with bad experiences, well that's just bad luck, there are people with bad experiences with all technology brands, even ASUS, Samsung and especially HP & Apple!
You are such a bad troll.
New title is clearer, thanks.
Not bad for £266 delivered!
Voted +HOT on the spec for price!

Brilliant find Imp!
For anyone that is thinking "Super price, crappy company/support" things have changed big time in the last 18 months or so, with how Medion do stuff now.
Since Lenovo became the largest shareholder [in effect the owner of Medion AG/UK/US/TW] things have got much better.
This is a solid build, solid modern components, good warranty and the company is going nowhere :-)
I put one in my basked and didn't check out - they sent me a code for free delivery by email a little later, but by then I'd checked out... :-( Could be worth a gamble if you don't mind risking it selling out.
TBH it doesn't look that much better than this deal, but looking closely the screen resolution is far higher at 1920*1080, the screen is larger, the cpu is a bit better and and the video card looks slightly better. Your basically paying extra for the higher resolution/bigegr screen and then better cpu and video card. Just checked the wight of the thing, 3kg? WTH? that is one heavy machine... looks like all medions are quite heavy?
Just remember to buy a laptop for what you actually need it for
Medion don't manufacturer or assemble any of this stuff its a brand slap. I've got an old Medion laptop and they didn't even bother to change the taiwanese brand on the rating label underneath. This is no different from 'Bush', 'Alba' etc where chinese goods are rebranded. The quality is unknown unless you know the quality of the original chinese/taiwanese supplier. Not a critiscism just making the point someone could have an excellent Medion laptop and another a very poor one and they could be from completely different manufacturers.
I think I've had 2 Medion products, one a laptop which was pretty good I think for the price I paid and another a dvd player which was pure crap and was replaced with another equally awful dvd player. The Medion dvd player would have been really good for the price as it had an excellent zoran chipset for its day but they'd fitted atrocious dvd drive units that struggled with dual layer discs (commercial dual layer discs not copies) and so the device was pretty useless and not fit for purpose. Just making the point sometimes compromises in manufacturing costs can lead to a wholly inadequete product.
Lots of components vary in quality right down to component level like capacitors. This can make the difference between a device lasting 2 years or 10 years. So not only do the components vary in quality but the assembly and in house manufactured parts can vary too where the laptop is finally assembled. Obviously at the bottom end of pricing you are looking at low end screens, low end li-ion batteries etc. It's a compromise between making a decent product and hitting the right price point. My gut feeling about Medion is generally they will import pretty reasonable stuff and only get caught out occasionally with a very poor product. If I was buying a Medion product I'd want to check out some reviews just to make sure most people are happy and there is not some big issue with the product.
Looking here it looks like the underlying chassis is ok;

Of course some parts may be lower spec in a lower end model, even in the i7 version the display looks to be poor and battery low end capacity so it could be even worse on this model. One benefit though is low end performance laptops often produce less heat and can be more reliable. Getting a high performance cpu/gpu to work in a laptop is much harder than mid range or low end versions that run slower and produce less heat. A bulky laptop can be pretty good if it means better ventilation inside and less aggressive cooling fans.

2 x USB 3.0
What is Medion build quality like?
Warranty: 12 months
because...?

Reasonable - usually gloss surfaces on the laptops so show fingermarks a lot, they always look a bit dated in my opinion, touchpads can be a bit iffy too
This, pretty much the same specs but the Medion has considerably better graphics.
Screen is pretty mediocre with really bad viewing angles
Even my £120 netbook is better
Had 2 replacement batteries covered under warranty but perhaps this is my fault as I didn't use it much
Battery does still seem to drain itself even when not being used which I find odd
Due to cheap and nasty screen I would not have bought this.
I had a i5 model from them (forgot the model number)
HardDisk crashed within 6 months of purchase, sent for repairs (all the way to germany and took 2 weeks), returned to me working / new hdd installed, hard disk started playing up after 6 days??? Then I thought its best in returning the item, claim money and buy something better.
Medion is a germany brand and its not popular at all there, rather alot of neg comments.
Recommended brand: SAMSUNG, HP, APPLE (apple is awesome and so is the price)
