First things to do when you get this machine to make it faster:
    1. Remove bloatware with PC Decrapifier:
    pcdecrapifier.com/dow…oad

2.a. Remove whatever security program they've put on, especially if it's McAfee, using Appremover (or search for the specific removal utility from whichever antivirus vendor is on the PC):
    appremover.com/

2.b. Disable Windows Defender otherwise it might conflict with av software:
    avira.com/en/…587

    3. Install faster av program such as free Avast! antivirus or Antivir depending on your preference
    avira.com/en/…rus
    avast.com/en-…oad
(follow these instructions to remove the Antivir nag popup http://www.elitekiller.com/files/disable_antivir_nag.htm)

    4. Run Startup Lite from Malwarebytes:
    malwarebytes.org/sta…php

    5. Check for yourself what is set to startup with Windows using Autoruns:
    download.cnet.com/Aut…tml

Afterwards you could run services.msc and set to manual services you don't need (lots of guides on the net, particularly blackviper), run crapcleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim), install extra memory, or run cleanmem (http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem) which may or may not do anything.

I bought a Samsung Camcorder advertised as brand new, unopened packaging etc etc. When I got it it was in a tatty box - opened - camera had handwritten sticker on the LCD screen - charger was missing - leads were loose. Just got the full refund via PayPal.Buyer beware - Argos Outlet one of the worst !

It would appear, out of their 1/4 million transactions, that about 1% of feedback is bad, and 1% neutral.

My bad. You're absolutely right. Apologies.

Yeah no bluetooth on mine either, but a fantastic little machine, really impressed with it.

Just been putting it through it's paces to make sure everything works - mine came with a duff battery unfortunately so have got to run it off the mains until they replace it, but to be honest I've had that sort of thing happen with brand new machines, so happy to wait for it, will order an extra GB of RAM in the meantime!

    A very VERY hot deal!!!!!

    [I hate Paypal though]

Good deal - I especially like the fact it comes with XP and not Windows 7 starter.
But I've really got to resist!!!

This has good reviews with nice keyboard but make sure you like glossy screens which this has. I have the U100 in black with really nice matte screen but it lacks the battery.

i bought this brand new from argos for £150 last week

the battery lasts more like 4 hours noway you can get 7hours from it!

apart from that its a decent netbook just waiting for my extra 1gb memory for it

That'll be the first thing coming off when I get mine. Ubuntu Netbook Remix will be going on mine.

Wasn't there something about you can contact MS and get a partial refund when you get a prebundled version of Windows but you don't use it? Is that applicable to this netbook?
  17. deleted236382's avatar
Great deal, has to be one of the cheapest Netbooks with a one year warranty.

    Don't forget Topcashback with ebay.

I have got an Aspire One with 8GB SSD but since a recent update to flash I am not able to watch iPlayer or 4OD without terrible stutter. It has has an Intel 945GM VGA chipset where as this has the GMA3150.

Anyone using one of these able to confirm if iPlayer and 4OD stream well enough?
  25. deleted19690's avatar
    Cheers, just bought one!

Although they often don't sell the same goods online as they do instore it's worth popping down to one if it's local to you. Here's where they're located.

Bought three netbooks from these guys. Two were brand new, the third was used (a couple of light scratches on case) but properly cleaned and restored to factory settings (all usual Windows "first run" screens appeared on initial boot up.

I'm a happy customer who would definitely buy from them again.

Exactly. I bought an MSI U230 from them, and it arrived quickly in good condition. The network port has since stopped working, and D&J Henry will pick it up & repair it within the week as it is within the warranty period.

Then you have a poor imagination.

It's a great netbook & perfectly adequate for anything you'd want to do on a 10" 1024x600 sized screen.
It can comfortably decode h.264 @ 720p too.

    From the above, i'd say yes it's a 6-cell.
A 3-cell would never last 4 hours regardless of how little it was used.
4 hours from a 6-cell is about right for heavy usage, i'd expect more like 5 hours for light usage along with a few power saving measures.
