I bought it a bit after launch. I only have it on a HDD and the load time is awful. About 2 or 3 minutes.

EugeneVictorTooms

I have a i5 6600k, 16gb RAM and a gtx 1070 but the demo (installed on ssd) ran terribly - I was looking forward to playing this again with the dlc having completed it without on the PS4 but the frame rate put me off. Do you think it runs that way for you because of post launch patches/updated graphics drivers or did you play it at launch mate? Thanks :)

CAL23

I have a GTX 1070 with an i7-4790. Game runs great in 1080p with settings maxed out. However, turning on the NVIDIA GameWorks settings caused it to crash.

Karmazyn83

This game is very demanding in 1440p and 4k. Sub 60 during fights with everything on with gtx 1080 and i7 6700k. In 1080p game flies with all settings on

tjc2005

Yeah that would have sucked being locked at 30.

This laptop is ok for navigate on the Internet watch movies, online or from hard drive, you can play games for example fifa 2017 or f1 2016, 2017 strategy games, if you want to play new games you will need a better laptop recommended with sdd, bigger graphic card and better processor.

'Caveat Emptor' or 'Horses for Courses' ! Briefly perusing the technical specification of this decidedly mediocre Fujitsu Lifebook E458 laptop, I still find it an utterly contemptible situation that currently there STILL appear to be a few neanderthal manufacturers & retailers out there deliberately dragging their feet, who believe that nowadays it's completely acceptable to flog inferior products with such lousy 15.6" 1366 x 768 pixel resolution screens ! I mean jeez guys, isn't it about time that you all woke up and smelt the coffee ? Oh and by the way I'm afraid that at least in MY book, a miserable 1366 x 768 pixel screen on a 15.6" portable is by it's very nature categorically neither HD nor full HD…..no way, José !!! Methinks a quick email or phone call to your local Trading Standards office ought to sort out that little problem and force the retailers to amend their advertising accordingly….. Admittedly a quick search online revealed that other Fujitsu models further up their 'food chain' can be specified with full HD screens, but obviously they are priced higher accordingly, so regrettably in this particular instance it's a unequivocal Cold from me…..sorry !

jaydeeuk1

768 wouldn't have even been sufficient back in 2010, god knows why they're still palming these panels off on the public. My first PC was am expensive £2000 Fujitsu desktop. Broke 2 months after the warranty expires. Was therefore also my last.

Al2001

Agreed on the RAM. Windows 10 really should run fine with 4GB but in reality it's pretty sluggish in my experience.

James_Prescott

7th gen i5. They are all selling at this price for the spec. 8th gen is on most new i5 laptop. Voted cold not really a good deal

kerridge0

About ten years ago I signed up myself and gf for the 'Lifebook for life' program, where we each spent about 1k on laptops and every three years get a free replacement for life. So we've had eight laptops now and the only one that went wrong and had to be repaired was the T901 which was a tablet and the digitiser/display went wonky. I am a heavy user and physically mine looked quite worn when it was time to return but they really took the battering very well. So I'm pretty impressed overall with Fujitsu quality, definitely better than the cheaper makes.

Got the 10” it’s a good device to carry around as a backup. My 10” only has 32gb storage, so generally not enough room to download and install the larger windows updates. (Feature updates). I’ve managed to get all the drivers, and I use nlite to add them to a windows 10 bootable USB to reinstall the latest OS when updates won’t work. That combined with one drive for files makes this quite handy for my job! It’s not perfect, but it’s cheap and so far it’s reliable!

Ah, that is who I found yesterday anyway, I think it was showing £137 headset only and the bundle discontinued with no stock. Never mind then.

tooner

I guess we can find out, they're called B&H Photo. It's not one I'd heard of but I did my research before I bought mine and they are well known stateside with very good reputation. Delivery was very fast by DHL and you can pre-pay taxes.

nige182

Given the controllers seem to be about £70 over here, the headset alone for £130 doesn't save anything over this Acer, but if the controllers only add that to it as a bundle then the bundle deal is worth a look. The lenovo has a better field of view and looks aesthetically nicer, everything else seems the same, sensors, LCD displays etc. Can you name the store or does that get censored?

tooner

Without but it wasn't a huge amount more with controllers, an extra £30 or £40 from memory.

nige182

Was that with or without the controllers?

Pottswash

Just purchased and picked up. No need for so much cold. This is a genuine Xbox One controller with full Bluetooth etc, coming with a bonus 9ft cable (meaning no batteries needed) for £10 cheaper than full RRP.

Pottswash

From reading the comments on Argos website this is exactly the same controller as is sold at £49.99 full price without charger lead.

m.ad

Like you said, controller deals are a bit thin right now. For PC I think the Student Computers offer is better if you are in the market for an adaptor too, but its not the best hence why I haven't posted it :-p

Weapon

I just want a controller for XB1 use tbh, the wire doesn't interest me. Confused as to why a refurbished version for £10 more is considered a better deal than OPs brand new one? Right, but I don't think there are any (from a reputable seller at least) that are currently cheaper than this post and potentially waiting weeks to replace my broken controller is not ideal.

Incidentally, if you want to 'fix' Garrafk's build I would suggest ; cclonline.com/pro…ajA £92.50 uk.pcpartpicker.com/pro…ro4 £74.14 (It has 4 custom clockable Ram slots so you can use 2x4 gb in dual channel mode and add 2 more sticks later, and manually set them up if they wont auto play nice). Not some p.o.ZHit. A320 2 slot 60 watt junk. (Try putting a ryzen 5 3600 in that next year?) R5 2400g graphics performance in single channel mode (1 stick) can be seen here; (sorry, 2200g is vega 8 gpu cores but scales the same graphics wise with ram whilst overclocking gpu cores works better) And thats a single 120 quid trident Z 3200 mhz cas 14 Samsung 'B die' stick falling on its bottom there against a DEAD CHEAP 2400 mhz cas 15 dual channel ripjaws kit., trust me a single stick of anything reasonable price will cripple the onboard graphics by more than shown here to unusable.. Dont buy 1x8 for onboard gpu use! So Ram ; uk.pcpartpicker.com/pro…c01 £71.50 _ That WORKS. This is where you want to be for a Ryzen APU. (As stated, you can double it up later in the 4 slot board and tweak settings to get it to 3000 cas 16 if necessary. (likely need no more than a V bump if anything but 16 gb @ )3000 cas 16 is respectable for a much bigger processor using 4 sticks, @ £142 incrementally purchased. You can work this guff out later with some timing recommendations if it isnt a 'breeze'). S.S.D.; WANTS; use the crucial mx 500 250 gb , its £15 more than the 240 gb version but 3 times faster in moving big files or high depth queues. Massively reliable, on the bleeding edge with the samsung speed wise but cheaper. Dont buy a bag of snot 240/480 cheapo, it will affect everything now and in the future. Buy those if poor. And C.E.X. will post you a tested warranted used 500 gb hard drive for £8, I use them like blank dvd's. (Copy stuff on a couple, dont worry about it much they cost nish) Power supply. See notes above. Garrafk gave you absolutely terrible advice. (practically about everything actually) Hardware secrets pushed the eco 430 to 500 watts where it shut down safely. The CIT job would likely burst into flames and destroy everything in your pc case. (Well, 1 in 5 times, anyway; its just luck if you get anything usable) but its not something you want to risk. JonnyGuru tested the S12II 520 ; jonnyguru.com/mod…185 (ancient news. Seasonic is where its at for peace of mind) You wont find CIT even on bent psu charts, they dont exist in the gaming world. Anyway, the rig I have designed will run a 6 core 12 thread ryzen, 7 nanometer cpu (next July) at pushing 5 ghtz or whatever it comes out at,16000 cpu marks minimum, at way beyond any graphic card you will need/ afford (but you will need a bigger power supply past an rx 570). Dont take much notice of people claiming to be 'pc engineers'; I've met every MCSE know all in the west end and none of them know much about pc hardware. Period. This one probably wasnt even an MCSE wallah.

joe_shmoe

And when that unit explodes, so does your gtx 1060. you want to risk it for £8 thats fine. Not something you should be recommending to noobs as a pc engineer tho, is it?

garrafk

Nice pictures and very interesting. I am not disagreeing that seasonic PSU's are higher quality, infact I 100% agree with you. But my opinion is still for a pc running a 2200g and medium GPU ie gtx1060 or AMD equivalent, the certified CIT will do fine on a budget. I also 100% agree that the non certified CIT PSU's are complete garbage. But I'm happy to agree to disagree and im always happy to listen to others opinions and experience.

joe_shmoe

Thats the interior of the seasonic S12II 430 watts. (likely the same as the eco but the eco will have low power state improvements -haswell ready) tested to 500watts by the reviewer. Thats the interior of the previous model cit 80+ bronze (now EOL) (probably identical, it introduced as the old one is retired.same price point_ look in yours and see?). Spot the difference. The bottom (output) and bottom left (intake) is missing a chunk of circuitry. Thats likely the (bottom left) overvolt/ undervolt and then (bottom) short circuit/overload/ protection circuits . Might not be , i'm not an electronics engineer but it doesnt take a genius to see the mains is bypassing a lot on the cit. unit. Less coil volume too. I wouldnt buy it.

joe_shmoe

I just checked out the specs on that cit, there is only 36 watts difference on the 12v rails vs the 430w eco.. You havent had any problem yet but when an RX 470 comes along for £90 the cit unit is gonna end up in the recycle bin within months maximum.. Its a wasted £30, time, effort, hair pulling. Its not even gonna handle a 1060. A noob doesnt know its the power supply, they have to suddenly troubleshoot BSOD's with no experience. I've BEEN there. I learnt from donated pc's and spent 2 years farting about thinking I could get away with cheap psu's. i went through donated units (inc a new 500 watt cit) and wasted my £30 after that before I learnt my lesson. They wont be saving money building an upgradeable gamer with that unit, they will be wasting it. You arent doing them a favor, when that day comes they will curse you. It cannot be done for £30! its simple economics in a pennies profit market. The eco is £8 dearer on scan. Its just not worth it.

Nicolas

But how does chrome work ? U can’t save files on the laptop :(

Masteryates

As my parents Laptop is on its last legs, the me of 1 year ago would really be looking at this. However, I bought a Windows 10 laptop myself, (thinking Micro$oft had learned from the mistakes of Windows 8.) There's no doubt, Windows 10 is better than 8, but it's still horrible. On a FHD screen, it renders at 125% meaning some text and icons look odd. My parents won't be able to see 100%. There's way too much white on white on white which is an eyestrain bonanza and M$ have gone and removed the options to play with all the colours. (High contrast mode looks like a cartoon.) Hating Windows 10, (and my machine unable to install Windows 7,) I then gave cloudready a go which is Chrome OS which runs from a USB stick. Even though you can't do much except browse, Gmail, Docs & Sheets, for my parents, this looked to be a real alternative. Things like scrolling are poor but it's to be expected without dedicated drivers etc. Looking at Dedicated hardware, i.e. Chromebooks, I thought they were overpriced for what you get. However, if you can pick one up for the right price, for people who don't do much, they are much nicer than a cheap Windows 10 machine. A few weeks ago, I spotted a Chromebook at a price I was prepared to pay, (Acer 15 for £206 from USA,) and it's excellent. No hassle with viruses, updates, drivers, scaling, scrolling etc. This will be my parents Christmas present for sure. To put the cherry on the cake, it can also run Android apps on the touchscreen. I'm not saying this is for everyone as Windows machines will always be needed. Worth checking out if you want hassle free computing or are sick of being the I.T. department for friends or relatives.

Aside from the low res I'm still amazed by how good the PSVR is for the price point, surprised by some of the comments here. Just plug it in and it just works. As for tracking issues - I've not experienced this. Maybe down to light/dark environments? <shrug>

Very true, that. Edit. Just remembered, I've installed different Android Emulator's on different Window's 10 Laptop at some point last Year + the Year before (just to see how it worked upon different systems, etc?). And even though those Window's 10 Laptop's I tried it on at the time wee not 'touch-enabled', via the Laptop's track pad/mouse, I was able to initiate some of the Android Movie App's I put on it at the time (without any issues). So it is actually possible, just fiddly as hell though, lol. I'm using a different Window's 10 Laptop these Day's that's a bit more 'purpose-built' (so none of that matters again), but it's neither here nor there, as either of the 2 'options' are possible same way?. :-)
