Vue is doing an Alien and Aliens Director's Cuts Double Bill on 26 April 2016! The £10.99 price is based on the local ticket price I checked, but I think it will be the equivalent of one local ticket…

Posted this when they had it on at Halloween years or so ago, seems they aren't showing this in as many cinemas this time though. Was available in Bolton last time :| price has gone up a lot to. Was around £7 last time

I think price is dependent on location as I paid around £11 for the Halloween showing as well (although Meerkat codes should make it cheaper this time). It's a shame about the reduced locations though!

Aliens: Live at Royal Albert Hall in Nov is what it's all about.
Didn't realise they were doing Aliens Live! Although I have tickets booked for Jurassic Park Live in Nov, so looking forward to that!
I got happy when I saw the 24th as its a rest day for me, but checked the site and it said 26th was gutted, heat regardless, will be an awesome double bill!!

Sorry, I somehow managed to mix up the 4 and the 6 - I blame tiredness! If it's any consolation, there's a chance they'll do it again later in the year to coincide with Aliens' 30th anniversary.

Aaah all of the awesome marathons always fall on days I'm at work which is just annoying!!
Director's cut of Aliens in the cinema will be a wish fulfilled. I prefer the theatrical of Alien though, but can't complain.

Good deal if you can hack it but I'll be repeat viewing via Sky Movies on my living room couch :)
Actually did the 22 hour marathon for Age of Ultron at Vue and that was fun, might have to give this a go
I find it sad people can waste so much of there life going to see 3-4 movies in one hit.

How can you even sit on your **** that long? the seating in the cinemas are awful for a start.

This is just my view.

Price wise not bad and cineworld unlimited holders can also go see these may need to pay little up charge for 3d if not black card holder.
these marvel flicks are all so ridiculously overhyped and very repetitive. Also, superheros are supposed to be for kids, and these films are all 12A......no one will give a t*** about any of these films in 10 years.

You can just turn up, but obviously you're better to book to guarantee your ticket and get good seats. I went at the weekend and it was pretty busy.
Must you book this or can you just turn up? booking fee also required.
Saw this with my 8 year old son, a couple of weeks ago at the Odeon in Exeter (using Sunperks tickets). Must admit that I really enjoyed the film, really funny and it also had a good soundtrack - ie, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and The Doors (amongst other artists) - well worth seeing if you haven't already done so.
Adults dressed as a Minion get in for free!

If it was specifically for kids why do they advertise them at student freshers fairs?
I can appreciate your situation, but the Kids am slot is specifically for children. Almost all the Kids am films have already been shown so I guess you could have seen them when they first came out, albeit at full price.
aurora
They don't allow adults in to Kids am showings unless they are accompanying children. It's only sensible really. My local view has special showings of films for those with autism, though these are when the films are new so notcat a reduced price.
For those struggling to find which films are on - on the Vue website choose your cinema, then 'film times' then the day - the Kids am film has a little box next to it. Sometimes they will show 2 films each day. If a film is on it's first showing at Kids am you might be better to book or better still get there early as they can get really busy.

Why is it sensible? Adults can like kids films and its bad to automatically assume someone is dangerous, and the thing for me with the autism showings is they themselves dont seem to like single adults, and I couldnt handle them anyway as the dimmer lighting would make me want to sleep and even worse with lower noise.

On a similar note today went to a library I dont normally use, the kids section has signs up saying "adults only allowed in with kids" yet they keep all the graphic novels there and other books I read such as Adrian Mole so what happens if I want a book?

I wonder if they will do the usual treat you like you are dodgy if you go in as a single person(especially a male) I asked at a local Odeon once about their kids special movies and was told I couldnt get in because it was aimed at kids and a single person going in is suspicious.

Asked at a Vue once as well and was told the same thing, I like kids movies as I am autistic.

Cardiff is a beautiful city. It's the CAPITAL city of Wales for a reason. Great cinemas to chose from and decent value as of late. Especially with the mentioned meerkat movies @ £4

Nobody cares if it is the capital city.. Makes no difference whatsoever.
Go to the Premiere Cinemas, the food and drink is way cheaper and you can have a pint in the cinema :)

£1.99 is expensive, it's £1.75 at vue cleveleys
Like others have said, check your local cinema site as many do these kids screenings now, Odeon is £2.50 at MetroCentre, been there last couple of weeks with little'ns to see Shaun the Sheep, Penguins and Tinkerbell using the Sun+ free tickets.

As Aurora said, Shaun the sheep is not great, personally like the charm of Wallace & Gromit etc and didn't mind Flushed Away either but this was very poor
I have five Odeon kids movie codes for tomorrow morning (10th May) shows. If interested, please email me.

thanks for the info, really helpful. am going to watch big hero 6!

aurora
Big Hero 6 is fab - best kids film of the year, Night at the Museum is good, but thought Shaun the Sheep was a bit disappointing compared to the other Aardman stuff. Into the Woods was boring - looks nice but the songs are poor and samey and the last third of the film is pointless. My kids thought it was very dull and I think under 10's would be bored stiff as it's far too long for the story.
Off to see Penguins tomorrow.

you will love it been last week my son did not want to leave the cinema til is was switched off. amazing movie

I love how people are speaking as if Premiere Cinemas are this little independent cinema! If they can afford to buy the location they have and refurbish the entire thing back into a cinema (which all supposedly cost a 7 figure sum in total), they certainly aren't a 'small-time' company. It's being made out to sound like it's this little family run business that are just trying to make ends meet but Vue are now trying to run into the ground - in reality, Premiere have nothing at all to worry about - better location which is slap bang by the main high street and it's right opposite a car park. All they need to do is keep the prices low, the place tidy and the customers happy and they'll be fine.
Cinema prices creep up when there's no competition, which is why Vue and Cineworld (along with Odeon) have been so damn expensive for so long as they all owned the market and were more than happy to keep the prices high. Premiere are big players and you should be happy they've come along with this aggressive pricing... it's making the other nearby cinemas' have no choice but to compete!

I'm going to have to disagree with a lot you have said.

1. I think you might be confusing Premiere cinemas with something else - maybe something with the same name in America, they are not "big players" the one in Romford was started by a single local entrepreneur called Carter Hayes who took it upon himself to open a previously closed cinema in a shopping centre. It is now part of a very small cinema circuit run by a man called Paul Jervis and his family buisness is cinemas, there was an old chain in the Midlands called the Miles Jervis Cinemas which slowly closed one by one, Paul was the son who attempted to keep the last one open but he eventually had to close the doors. His cinema circuit now consists of running old cinemas where the owner is the council or some local conservation group or in these cases a shopping centre, ie. people who want to reopen old cinemas.
He certainly hasn't bought this cinema, the shopping centre want more footfall and to fill empty shops, this 7 figure sum sounds a lot but it's the bare minimum in cinema terms when you have to get all the new technology and seating and change the flooring and paint. I doubt he just had the money bulging in his pockets he presumably had to borrow it like any small business does.

2. When you say Premiere have nothing at all to worry about with a better location then the question is why was it closed for 14 years and not found anyone else wanting to redevelop the location for anything. On paper it may seem like a good location near a train station, parking available but the footfall is low. Poundland have found that out that to their cost by opening a second Cardiff store in that area to elevate pressure on their other busy store but it is so quiet they only need one person on the tills and have had to put their hand back in their pocket and spend money on extending their original store.
You could argue Vue have on paper a good location near the bus station and Cardiff's busiest train station and nearer to the new shopping centre but things aren't all they seem with paper calculations.
Premiere have a lot to worry about if the other cinemas will match their prices, bigger cinemas with more screens showing films at more times force closure on smaller cinemas that's how it has always worked, the cinema in question was a contributing factor in closing the other smaller cinemas, then it was forced to close by bigger cinemas.

You are right when you say cleanliness and customer satisfaction should be their number one priority. I've been reading some reviews of Romford cinemas there are some complaints over cleanliness at the Premiere cinema there, it seems they run a skeleton staff team and when someone complained to the manager about it he said he'd been run off his feet and not eaten for 48 hours. Some people say they will instead choose the Vue in Romford instead for cleanliness but reading the reviews of that cinema it reads as if that is dirtier, one complaint to Vue head office resulted in a very honest reply that the "Clientele" in Romford are to blame.
Hopefully staff in Cardiff can keep on top of cleanliness and not get run off their feet because as you say it's good to have competition.

Premier is rubbish. All I see is the back of the person's head in front of me :(
The new premier cinema is pretty good too, opposite Queen Street station. All tickets £4, just don't buy food, that's obviously still a rip off.
Screens are a little smaller than some cinemas, but perfectly adequate, and the seats recline too!
Premiere cinema is about a 15 minute walk across Cardiff from the Vue so it will attract a different clientele. Personally, I really dislike the Vue so this £4 offer won't stop me from going to the Premiere.

Bit late with my reply for this weeks showing but pretty sure you would be OK with grandparents. I think they might have an issue if it was 4 younger adults and one child.

We went to Paddington today and it was very good. Lots of slapstick humour but quite a funny script too.
Hi guys,

Whats the score on the Vue deal with adult/child ratios?

Thinking of taking my little'un to this at the weekend along with the wife i.e. 2 adults and 1 child, but thinking ahead, the grandparents are sure to want to tag along to little'uns first trip to the cinema.... so would I get away with 4 adults:1 child ratio or are there rules?

Everyone pays the kids price at Kids AM.£1.75* for adult and child tickets on selected movies every Saturday and Sunday morning and every day in school holidays. *3D movies £3.00.
Thank you - any idea about the Sun Perks free tickets for childrens' screenings - can an adult use one of the free tickets as well?
