    that is a great deal. i paid around £150 for the same deal a year ago, and I had to send off for the free hard drive (same capacity). ok, the process wasn't too bad...just a case of filling in a form and sending proof of purchase and in a couple weeks it arrived. this really is a cracking piece of kit. I've got it hooked up to a switch along with all my other networked pc's and consoles and use it as a central media server. depending on the quality of your ethernet wiring (mine's pretty good) you should have no problem streaming full HD with this baby, as it's a gigabit connection. the only modification i've mad is change the fan to a more quiet one which makes a nice difference...only set me back around £7. don't hesitate to get this if you're in the market for a NAS

    This is a great price. There's not much between this and the HP server that's around £125 after cashback. If you don't want to mess around with operating systems then this is the way to go. Oh and it's got a 500GB HDD instead of 250GB. Very temped with both items...

    I understand the OS situation perfectly, the HP system does offer a lot more for those in the know.

    1. It's a server, not just a NAS and so is much more capable than this.

    2. It has potentially 7 drive bays (1 usb internal for OS etc, 4 x 3.5" slots and 1 5.25" slot (theoretically 2 drives!))

    I've got both and I would take the HP Proliant Microserver everytime over the Readynas Duo. It's not that the Readynas isn't good it's just that the HP Proliant Microserver will be much more flexible and better value for money.
