The Costco set are 5 knives and a block for £225 inc vat. I got mine from Tesco direct at £140 for the anniversary model block and 5 knives. Absolutely brilliant kit.
I got my Costco ones when it was still a seven piece set, we use the bread knife all the time so well worth picking up separate though it is £130 on its own :(

I am also interested in the £100 Global knife set.
How much was the Costco set?

In the past Tesco have has some good offers on Global knife sets so might be worth keeping an eye on their website

@PeterJD That was my thinking too...but obviously HUKD voters believe in £5 toasters/kettle/irons rather than a product that is well engineered at a discount price. And at least you don't have to go trying to match barcodes or go to obscure locations to snag the last one... HeyHo and thanks for the comprehensive research.
This is shown as model 5KTT890BER on Pots and Pans, where it's listed at £195 but out of stock.

Kitchen Appliances 123
say it's a discontinued model.

Amazon state it's 'currently unavailable', with no price, but uk.camelcamel imply the last Amazon price was £169.

It therefore looks like it is indeed a discontinued model. Although I'm not a fan of the KitchenAid look myself, I think a branded product being sold off for half price really should be red hot.
I am somewhat puzzled why people actually take the time to vote this down...if you think it is expensive for a toaster that's fine; but it is a good quality heavy-duty every-day device from a reputable brand and a reputable retailer. Yes, I appreciate there is some ambiguity regarding the whether it is current or older version but it is still a deal.

This isn't the "artisan" toaster. This is the cheaper model, despite the description on the website. Still a decent price for this model though.

Curious. If you zoom in on the image on the website, the badge says "Artisan" below "KitchenAid".

So it Does! Maybe an old model then? I've been pricing the new one up recently ( looks much nicer than this one!) and thats around £240 everywhere.

yeah the coffee syrups are really good value from nisbets compared to many coffee shops and supermarkets
Looks good for those people saying they liked the morning gingerbread syrup.
Careful as I deal with them on a commercial level and it can be very difficult getting various parts for the own brand stuff (Buffalo etc) At least with the known brand names you can go direct to the manufacturer/supplier.
also worth checking out their ebay selling off page too.

Buy 1 good global knife with the money, will outlast all these if you look after it, but saying that these knives are OK, although depends on your definition of professional
Not the most aesthetically pleasing knife set I've ever seen oO
Not really much of a deal, hideous things....
That must be why the deal is soooo scorching then
I think people are mistaking how they look for actually how good a deal they are at this price!!!
Whether you like what they look like or not, the usual price for Professional chefs knives is usually quite expensive. I know because my day job is as a chef, and has been for 15+ years!!!
The fact is they are half price, and for any chef out there who is on a tight budget (like all chefs who get paid badly!!!) this set offers a real bargain!
Just because they aren't what your looking for doesn't make it a bad deal!

Looks very nice but seems a bit pricey. I just got a set of 13 Japanese knives for £27 down from £79.99, seems a better deal.
Beautiful knife
Most here wouldn't have a clue what to do with them..Great for cutting there sandwiches in half or frozen pizza, maybe they may even cut an onion in half now and again!
Kafkaesque
Don't get me wrong, I voted hot on price, but one of the great design attributes of Japanese knives is the layering of an extremely hard steel centre core with softer outer layers for a combination of sharpness and durability. 60 Rockwell hardness is what I would consider good in a knife of this caliber.

This is what I want (and can't justify):

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61vwbgAEXkL._SX1500_SY1950_CR,0,0,1500,1950_.jpg

That's a knife, nice.
Ah Kai Shun! Yes I REALLY want a set of these, but absolutely no way I can justify the price

Just to let you know these are still on sale, just ordered yet another set yesterday as the kids mislaid the bulk of the one's I'd purchased before. Great value for money & decent quality for the price :)

great for one-off use..lol

They honestly do last longer than as a 1-off item! They're about the same quality as school cutlery (or the stuff you get from places like little chef (ie motorway service stn's)). So well worth the money in my view as cheap cutlery to use every day
great for one-off use..lol
Sorry john2020md you were probably typing on your phone and I know how bad my spelling gets :D

Also chalkysoil I normally by other stuff from there, they have some really nice kings style cutlery there too for low prices some 18/10 stuff too, so I'd buy some cheap daily use and then the others for special occasions. Theyre nearly as good as the viners sets but a LOT cheaper!
oh no the spelling police.......jeez..

Do you think the dimensions listed on the site include the lid and handles?

My dish has arrived (love it; the second one was for a friend) and after measuring it I can confirm that the sizes stated on site are correct for the dish itself including the handles, but without the lid on. Putting lid on adds approx. 70 mm (7 cm) to the total height! :)

Thank goodness - someone has posted a sensible alternative to that vastly overpriced 'designer' LeCreuset stuff! Will do everything just as well except impress the neighbours when it's on your AGA - so it's for the other 99% of the population then!

These are not sealed inside, you have to seal them yourself and keep re-doing it every so often or it will start to rust. The overprices French ones have an enamel coating on the inside.

I have a good collection of cast-iron skillets that are years old and they have to be sealed by hand.

Call me old fashioned, but In my opinion this gives them that personal touch and it literally takes less than a minute.
^ Thanks for clarifying that, as it said on the website they needed to be sealed I assumed there was no coating inside

I challenge anyone to tell me what the difference between this excellently priced casserole dish and it's enormously overpriced French equivalent is?
