Nokia lumia 800 £115.00 @ Tesco instore

Just bought two Nokia 800 Lumia the last two days in tesco.
Spend £30 instore and £15 off phone making payment of £115 each phone.
Had to buy some beer, wine and boxes of biscuits for christmas presents.
Using Giffgaff in both phones. My boys have sony experia s but for my wife and myself for text ,e-mail, internet and facebook this is spot on. May not be for everybody but in my opinion good deal.

Sorry cold as it would mean that I have to spend £145 to get it :p

Haven't voted really

No stock in West Durrington - i wanted 2.
#4
How do you get the discount?
#5
So u have to spend 30 quid on other stuff first to get ya phone 15 quid cheaper?
#6
you need to spent £30(exclding phone price) in tesco store on grocery and it will take £15 off from phone price.
#7
Anyone wanna gimme a voucher cos I don't need 30 quids worth of anything else from tesco.
#8
My wife's Tesco vouchers were doubled, so we ended up getting her this for £100 in Wallsend/North Shields Tesco
Was originally £130, and we didn't have to spend a penny on anything else. Although we did do a slight shop for groceries AFTER buying the phone.

so you went in and bought the phone first and paid £100 for it?

thing is, i want this phone, but its a trek through the tunnel to north shields and i really don't want or need anything else from a tesco store at all.

Is it really worth going for this? Limited to Windows Phone 7, Never getting the upgrade to Windows Phone 8 and not a great App selection??? Am I missing something..

Surely a £100-£120 Android would be better>?

And will a cheap Android phone get an update to ICS (presuming it's coming with 2.3) never mind Jelly Bean?

WP7 is a perfectly capable OS for most people, most major apps are covered and there is one more update coming beyond WP7.8 according to the leaked Nokia roadmap for the OS.

My boys use android all the time but for my wife and myself this will do us fine.

Just looked in the house and I have some tescos vouchers only £6.50 but doubled meant I would not have to spend money in the shop for the second one.

I will have to use the vouchers for something else.

Are these or the O2 ones locked?

O2 phones are locked and they won't unlock it before 12 months. I didn't find any online retailer who can unlock lumia 800. Tesco phones are locked to Tesco mobile network but an O2 SIM will work.

you are incorrect, an o2 sim will not work in a Tesco mobile.

tempting

I bought one instore a few weeks ago and it was unlocked. A previous instore deal thread confirms others also got unlocked handsets.

The guy who served me instore said Tesco Mobile were getting rid of all their stock hence the price drop.
#23
The ones in the BLUE Box WITHOUT tesco mobile branding are unlocked people... The ones with Tesco Mobile branding are locked..

Just got an unlocked one
#24
Wow, awesome value - and a free upgrade to 7.8 in the new year?
#25
so if you ask for a tesco one and get given one with the tesco branding on, you have to ask for the blue boxed one?

Yeah 7.8 should be here Q1 of 2013.
#27
I only really want this as a backup phone, media player and to play XBOX Live games, could do with it being unlocked for an ovivo sim though.
#28
Can you use offer with club card vouchers too?
#29
An excellent phone, my wife has been making me very jealous using it since it came out. I picked it up for £130, excellent value at that price - can't go wrong for anything cheaper!
#30
There's another thread here
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nokia-lumia-800-online-140-store-130-tesco-1362532?page=3#comments
where numerous people (including myself) confirmed that the phones were unlocked. Mine even had a Tesco sim fitted in it.
I bought one yesterday in the Towcester store. There's no way of telling how many more they have as they told me they no longer tally the number of slips of paper on the shelf with the actual phones in the store.

Tempted :)
#32
Good price for good phone but £30 spend should be mentioned in title

not true.

got a tesco one 2 weeks ago, worked on virgin and 3 straight from the box

I have this phone and there's no android handset under 200 better than this...
#35
Do I need to spend the £30 instore the same day as buying the phone?
I have a receipt here from the 27th for just over £40 so was hoping i could just turn up with that and get the £15 off today?
Got some clubcard vouchers somewhere I can double up too so hopefully my local store has some left :)
#36
Thanks OP. Picked one up today. The £30 spend is no problem because you've got to buy your food from somewhere.
#37
Good phone but still weary considering the 7.8 update doesn't even come with Internet Explorer 10. I'd wait around for some of the other budget Windows Phone 8 devices.
#38
Does anyone know if they come with a sim.
#39
think i'll have to keep scouring Ebay or wait till payday cos with what I have to pay in either metro/bus/ferry fares to get to a tesco it makes it more expensive than ordering it from tesco with the £10 code for the sim free one!

Bought one on Contract at £15/Month for 500 mins plus Text and Data, now £12.50 and I love the phone, but read reviews before buying.
Phone cannot sync with MS Outlet and ITunes, but ZUNE is brilliant. Also some of the messaging options are daft wrt saving Drafts, viewing Sent, Outbox etc, not as you would expect from Nokia. VGood APP available for connectivity shortcuts for Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Wireless etc.
Build quaity is top-notch, lovely screen and tactile case fits like a glove.
Nice that TESCO Mobile allow customers to Cap Mins, Text and Data!!!
