    Shame its not going to get further updates as it looked a perfect phone for my son. (He wants a bland looking phone with no large cameras / detail on the back) I can't justify buying it if there are no further updates from July. Anyone have any ideas for a suitable phone in this price range?

    ngl only pixel and samsung midrange/flagships can guarantee 4-7yr updates (depending on the phone category) ... other android OEMs offer 2yrs max for their (midrange) phones, oneplus are stepping up to the plate and xiaomi too but if u want to buy any low budget phone at this sorta price, i am afraid u will have encounter with phones that won't get future OS updates or one OS update left. i won't even recommend a moto G84 cos no future os updates are coming to them.

    its either u buy pixel with the 'A' suffix/recently made flagships or go sammy A series way if u want many OS updates for your device. (edited)

    This phone is dead in the water..
    After mine updated to A13 the battery barely lasts a day..
    I have the pink line of death on the screen and oneplus don't want anything to do with it..
    Fortunately I only paid a few quid in the great oneplus glitch of 2022..
    Mine is just my spare works phone

    I had this a little on my OnePlus 8t. I backed everything up with Google one. Restored to factory reset then restored from Google one. Was like a new phone then.

    The automatic updates leave some crap behind
