I'll be honest. this lens is way overpriced. its only trick is that it is more compact than other lenses of its zoom range, but image quality is no better than the old 70-300 IS and that costs half as much and it's lighter too.

Cold I'm afraid. - Purchase price from Park Cameras is £829 (-£160 cashback = £669)

Price elsewhere at Amazon, Currys or Jessops is £675 (-£160 cashback = £515).

Much prefer my Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8 and under £300 when I bought it.

I really like Sigma, the 20mm wide angle lens is great, but the one you've mentioned is crop sensor only so no good if shooting full frame.

Hang on a moment, so AMazon are selling this for £666, and then you can aso claim £160 cashback from Canon so you are paying just over £500 for a real quality lens, that's a hot deal.

[Hello I am looking at buying an XT10 or XT1. What made you change from 10 to 1 and why do you enjoy taking pictures more? Thanks
Other than Gear Acquisition Syndrome?
18-135 lens is quite heavy and I also have big hands, so need a big grip. XT-1's is bigger in itself and there are additional Fuji-made grips available. I tried aftermarket Chinese-made L-plate for X-T10 but didn't find it comfortable
X-T1 has a huge viewfinder. Slight advantage for manual focus lens I use.
Thanks very much. I appreciate your insights.
Very slightly prefer X-T1's controls but there is very little in it.
Mainly GAS. I still kept the X-T10. Not used once in 5 months.

Probably ok deal as this is recently released flagship. But law of diminishing returns is very true with Fuji pricing:
£100-£150 used X-A1/X-E1 will take the same pictures as anything up to and including £400-£500 used X-T1. X-T1 will do 90% of what X-T2 does.
Ok if you have lots of money or are a pro, but I'd wait another year, Fuji always used to do occasional large cashbacks or trade-in discounts.
Did I upgrade from X-E1 to X-T10 to X-T1? Yes.
Did I enjoy taking pictures more with X-T1? Yes.
Were they better pictures than with X-E1 or X-T10? No.

e-infinity have this camera for £419, which would make it £369 after £50 Cashback from Panasonic, if its available.
Not sure how good e-infinity are, but would be a good deal.
edit: I see they aren't on the list of participating retailers for Cashback, so may not work out.
edit again: I see how old this deal is and out of date - Cashback isn't available for this model any more, so should be expired.
e-infinity are grey importers and yeah this is old

Excellent little camera, my only wish is that I could power it off USB or indeed that it could charge its own battery that way. Would be useful for youtube-ing
The new version (expected announcement at the end of this month) will very likely have USB charging, touch screen & 16mp sensor from the GX85.

I have a Sony camera with USB charging, problem with this is that because the battery doesn't last that long, you need two or more batteries, there's no charger supplied and so you have to buy a separate charger. It's very easy to choose the focus point on the LX100 so not sure a touch screen would be a big advantage. Full 16mp would be good, flip screen and better EVF would be very welcome.

Which'd be great if I were comfortable dropping that amount of money on an upgrade. There's some sort of access port for the battery that can be opened without opening the entire door, no idea what it's for but I've been wanting to hack together a USB powered 'battery' that makes use of it.

Yeah, Parcel Force screw up. No delivery Friday, was then labelled by them for priority delivery Saturday which they still didn't do and the guy finally dropped it off Monday. Complained to Park Cameras and they promised to refund delivery. The printer is cool. Prints great, easy set up, nice to use WiFi printing off my various devices. I would recommend it, tho I did research it first and know it's a well rated printer.

So my Friday delivery didn't turn up despite paying for next day. I'd go for the John Lewis deal THB as likely a more reliable courier!

The 16mp olympus sensor does punch above it's weight.
So do 16mp 1/2.3 sensors but no-one likes to mention that.
It's full-frame that has smaller competitors snapping at it's heels.

Hot from me. After subtracting the cashback, the pro lens and the cashback you get the Pro camera for a couple of humdred quid.
I guess a new flagship model will be announced in a few days as this is cheaper than the EM5 mk II
No leaks thus far but the Olympus 3 year cycle of refinement/upgrade is due soon for the EM1.
I guess you have put it another way in regards to the deal - if you wanted a good quality pro lens (£900+) then the flagship body comes in real cheap.
As update Jessops deal finishes 31st Dec 2015, Park cameras if I recall was 7th Jan 2016.

…did you try adapted lenses on it?
I tried a C-mount video lens on it (25mm) and the results were usually pretty poor — probably more a failing of the lens, which was no doubt just a security camera type of lens after all. With a bit of correction (usefully, the Pentax Q shoots in DNG format!) the shots are recoverable but not usually straight out of camera. https://www.flickr.com/search/?user_id=49428112%40N00&view_all=1&text=kisanon shows the ones I shot on that lens, including some dark greenish looking uncorrected ones (that got uploaded by Aperture after it annoyingly decided for no reason to replace the carefully corrected and cropped ones with the SOOC ones). That’s the only other lens I had. A lot of people stick telescopes on the other end, and I think I sort of waveringly held one of my Nikon teles in front of it one night, but of course, not with any degree of planar accuracy — what with the massive air gap and guesswork involved.
One of the downsides to this Q is that once the body cap is off, the sensor is exposed, nearly almost at surface level — mind out!

Only just a few weeks ago, I part exchanged all of my Pentax Q system (Q body; spare batts; Pentax-02 Standard Zoom 5-15mm f/2.8-4.5; Pentax-01 Standard Prime 8.5mm f/1.9; Pentax-04 Toy Lens Wide; Pentax-05 Toy Lens Telephoto; Pentax-03 Fish-Eye lenses. I was quite sad to see it go, but pleased at what it gained me as a reduction of a different (also secondhand) camera that I currently use all the time. I simply wasn’t using the Q much any more, but when I was using it, I was nothing but pleased with it.
did you try adapted lenses on it? im going to have to look for the review/blog now but the photos i saw were very very good, certainly at the size shown on the web

Bought this lens at the NEC photography show this year, haggled down to £800 from £850, top lens even on my aging canon 60D - canon crop equivalent of 240-960mm, Nikon 225-900mm.

For completeness, it's 225 to 900 on a Sony crop sensor :)
It gets all round good reviews, the only feedback I had from a forum member on dyxum.com was that he had sent his back for calibration test as it wasn't as sharp as he expected at the long end, and it was returned as checked ok and within tolerance, but I guess that's ok so long as your camera body has lens micro adjust and you can tweak it a little.

Any FW updates for my rusty RX100?

Does it need fixes? Sony are traditionally poor with bringing meaningful FW updates. These A7/r/sII are unusually generous for them.

Limiations list on the Metaboes is quite long, isn't it?

http://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB-EF-E-BT4

Yes, but they are very honest about that. they also update the firmware often to fix issues and add compatibility. The one were it says PDAF is only supported on the A7R2 is no longer true since that's something Sony have addressed with their firmware and enabled on this camera, plus the A7S2, of course.

much difference between this and the A7S mk II?
Yeah quite a lot. The A7SII has 12mp, 4k native video, a better viewfinder, more phase detect AF points over a larger area... OK I can't think of anything else right now, but that's quite a bit. It is a ton extra cash (more than double), mostly for things a lot of people won't need however and you only get half the resolution.
the main reason people buy a7s series is the insane low picture noise, can be used up to 100k iso without much of a digital noise. For the avarage Joe 12 vs 24 or 36mpx is just a number :)
I'm waiting for a decent deal now on the a7s or a7s mk2 to move away from my canon 6d

got the camera today just before leaving to work. First glimpse shows it's really small and nicely built. I can't wait to get back home to play with it more.

The long hours as the battery first charges.....

didn't take that long...

Don't wait, this is a fantastic camera, I have sold my Nikon stuff and gone Pentax mad, don't regret a thing!

The SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL is great, there are plenty of reviews here, seems to be £120 new but should be cheaper 2nd hand. I have one and can highly recommend it. The only downside is that it isn't weather resistant like some of the more expensive pentax lenses.
Thanks, my camera is waiting for me now. Will have a play tonight

In short, it's very nice. I've experience of it's older brother (K5) and in almost all ways this is identical. It's a little smaller than equivalent offerings from other companies and I like the 'dense' well built feeling that this gives the camera. High ISO performance is very nice and continuous shooting is plenty fast enough for me. I really like the huge range of legacy lenses on offer too. Video is mediocre at best, but then I only really use my SLR for stills. Not the most pixels in the world, but plenty enough and I prefer low noise over pixel count anyway. Where the K5-II does feel different to the K5 is focusing indoors, the old one could be hit and miss in low light but the new one really seems to have nailed this. I think it's a keeper! X)
Thanks, managed to grab one on sunday. Could you recomend a prime lens equivelent to a 50mm in old slr terms that will auto focus and exposure.
Thanks

meh camera.
Best IQ ever on a APS-C (RAW under 400 ISO)
Slow as **** with anything it does
also battery life is appalling

£799 / $999 suddenly starts to look like a bargain if you favour a slower, methodical approach to your photography. The Sigma DP2 Merrill is not a very good camera, but it is an excellent image-making device, so if you can put up with its many foibles and it suits your main subject matter, then we can certainly recommend the Sigma DP2 Merrill and its fantastic image quality.

What is the best value prime lens for this, eg 50mm
Cant go wrong with Pentax 1.8 50mm , you can get the sigma 1.4 but expect to pay a lot, lot more.
What is the best value prime lens for this, eg 50mm
fantastic price! I love pentax, if it wasn't because I bought the k3, I would've bought this model.

cannot argue with the incredible ruggedness of these cameras.
Very good value camera! Beats budget Canon and Nikons with ease!.. It actually has the same sensor as Nikon D7000, yet it is weather proofed and has inbuilt image stabilization, so no need to pay significant extra on each stabilized lens as with Canon and Nikon cameras.
It was the flagship camera for Pentax before the K3 , hope to see more price reductions with the announcement of the full frame Pentax at the end of the year, great find , heat..
