I am after the pioneer sclx-85 myself but this is an exceptional piece of kit and to get it with £300 reduced at the time of product launch is unheard of (retailing everywhere else at £1,500). It wont be this price again for a year or so I'd imagine so thought I should post it as it may help someone looking to buy an amazing bit of kit at a reduced price. I know this wont be to everyone's liking but you really can tell the difference between these and some of the cheaper AV receivers. I dont know if it will be possible to get a further 10% off if you have a bestbuy voucher from the new enfield store but worth a try I suppose. If anyone finds the lx-85 at a reasonable price, please post/let me know!

here's the product bits and pieces:

Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV ReceiverThe Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver gives your films and music a supreme upgrade, helping you to create the ultimate home cinema setup.

The features on-board the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver are so comprehensive that it offers a solution for virtually all of your film and music needs.

The AV receiver has a stylish all-black design, with two large controls at either end, flanking a large display panel. However, it’s the back of the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver that will truly blow you away, with an incredible amount of connectors offering a world of possibilities to enhance your entertainment.

There are 9 HDMI inputs allowing you to connect your HD devices to the AV receiver. Each one of these ports supports the latest 3D technology, so if you have a 3D games console, subscribe to a 3D package through your set-top box or enjoy watching all of the latest 3D films through your Blu-ray player, you can experience them in the highest quality via the AV receiver.

Besides working with all of your 3D content, the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver handles all of the latest high-def inition video, even upgrading non HD content, such as DVDs, up to Full HD 1080p quality, so that all of your content sparkles with detail on your HDTV. With two HDMI outputs, it’s not just your HDTV that you can hook up to the system either; you could also add a projector.

Pioneer’s Advanced Video Adjust technology automatically adjusts the video signals to best suit the type of TV that you’re watching. For example, on an LCD screen the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver will enhance the black levels on LCDs, which can be flushed out from the backlight. Furthermore, Advanced Video Adjust can enhance images based on how far away you’re sitting from the screen (using the same Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System that sets up the perfect sound dependant on where you’re positioned). So regardless of whether you’re viewing content on a plasma, LED, LCD or projector screen your video content will look better than ever.

Film fans can see their favourite flicks exactly how the director intended, with HD Digital Film Direct 24. This slows down the movie from the DVD broadcasting speed of 25 frames per second to the cinema-standard 24 frames per second, further enhancing your cinema-like viewing experience.

Other image enhancing technologies included in the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver are Deep Colour technology, which shows the subtlest of shades between on-screen colours, so what you see is true to life. If you have a compatible screen x.v.Colour will further increase the amount of colour you can see on-screen, displaying deeper shades of green, red and blue so that rich and vivid colours light up your TV. Video from internet sources, such as when you use BD-Live on your Blu-ray discs, is enhanced too, using a Stream Smoother to make up for compressed video data.

When it comes to sound, the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver excels too. It allows for a 9.1 surround sound setup, which is ideal for larger rooms. Each channel is capable of playing 180W of power, delivering enveloping sound and an amazingly accurate cinema experience. In fact the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver has even received THX Select 2 Plus certification to prove that it delivers to their high standards in medium sized rooms with a 10-12ft viewing distance from the screen. Additional certification comes from the world renowned AIR Studios, who’s engineers have been actively involved in tuning the receiver to give you studio quality sound in the home.

Of course, your room probably features other furniture and objects that could obstruct sound. Well, the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver uses intelligent speaker calibration to ensure that these obstructions don’t affect the sound quality from the speakers. An included microphone analyses the sound field and fine-tunes the speakers to give you the perfect sound for your room’s unique dimensions.

All of the fine details have been thought of, there’s even PQLS technology built-in to stop any distortion that can be caused during digital-to-analogue conversion. The result is jitter free sound that helps to create the perfect viewing and listening experience.

Of course, the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver supports all of the HD audio found on your Blu-ray discs, such as Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. Fifteen Surround Modes can be used to match the surround sound set up of your speakers to the programme you’re watching. So if you’re watching sport, an action film, or even playing a video game, you can quickly and easily adjust the sound settings to best suit what’s on-screen.

Music is given a healthy dose of sound enhancements too. The AV receiver will direct your music to each of the seven speakers around your room using Dolby Digital Plus, which ensures that digital music sounds just as impressive as your film’s audio. However, before it reaches the speakers your compressed music is given a makeover from the built-in Advanced Sound Retriever, which restores the lost sound quality in MP3, WMA and AAC files, boosting your music to CD quality. An additional Stream Direct feature can be used too, to bypass all unnecessary signal processing so you’re left with a pure digital or analogue sound, which will make your music sound incredible if it was originally recorded in high quality.

Bass and treble can be controlled at the touch of a button, while a clever Auto Level Control keeps all of your different albums and music sources at the same level, so you don’t get unexpected fluctuations in sound. If you want to keep your audio at a low level, but don’t want to lose the 9.1 surround sound effect, you’ll find the Midnight Listening Mode really useful. It adjusts the subwoofer, rear and centre speaker level while enhancing the sound’s dynamics so that you can enjoy your audio without disturbing others.

Apple devices are well-supported; you can connect your iPod, iPhone or iPad directly to the AV receiver, or even stream the content on your Apple device or iTunes account to the receiver wirelessly using Apple AirPlay. DLNA is also supported, so all other types of portable devices can get in on the act too, allowing you to stream content wirelessly to the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver wirelessly.

There’s no need for an additional radio player either, because the Pioneer SC-LX75 9.1 Channel AV Receiver comes with one built in already. It plays FM and AM frequencies and allows you to save your 63 favourite channels as presets, so you can listen to them at the touch of a button.

Well you know what it will be, the usual Argos goodmans micro system brigade, preferring to save their money for their cigarettes and cheap white cider, because the bass boost is good enough for them to listen to their N-Dubz MP3s.

Don't forget a possible 6% quidco/TCB as well. Equates to a pretty decent £72 in this case!

You can bi-amp though if you don't want to have 9.1. I bi-amp my 7.1 receiver as a 5.1 receiver, get more out of your front speakers sonically.
