Samsung Galaxy Y - £7.50/24m @ Mobiles.co.uk but only 27p via redemption £180.00

tek-monkeytek-monkey

Not one for all, I know lots of people hate redemption deals, but if thats your thang then this is a stupidly cheap deal.

Samsung Galaxy Y on Talk Mobile
250 minutes
5000 texts
500Mb internet

Pay £7.50/month then claim back most of it by redemption, making it £1.53/month. Topcashback pay £30.30, so averages at 27p/month. Thats under £6.50 for the whole 2 years.

Sure its no S3, but would make a great kids handset.

EDIT: Make sure you choose the 99p line rental as your free gift, not the £30 cashback.

.
If you're struggling with the above as there's some confusion on the website or you don't have the account number, ring 0800 049 1067, use Option 1, and they will cancel the insurance there and then (and send confirmation in the post). They then told me to ring 0844 499 4744 to cancel the technical support policy, which was confirmed over the phone. If you took out more than one phone contract, you'll only have one gadget policy per household apparently.

    Hi,
Look I am very old, so please can you explain to me how this whole 27p/month works.

    Thanks

First, you go to the deal through TopCashback. That will (eventually) get you a cashback payment of £30.30 if you take out a phone contract on mobiles.co.uk. If you aren't registered on TopCashback, you need to do that first (it's free).

Then, once you have signed up for the contract, choosing the money back by redemption offer, you will pay the bills as normal (direct debit) and claim the money back by sending in certain bills, about one in three. Mobiles.co.uk have a chart to tell you which bills to send in. YOU MUST DO THIS TO GET THE MONEY BACK. You can send the bills in online, as scans or pdf files, and you have about two months to do it each time. Mobiles.co.uk will email you to acknowledge that they have received the bills, and they even tell you if you sent in the wrong one, but they will NOT remind you to do it. Every time you send in the right bill, you get a cheque a few weeks later for whatever the amount of redemption is.

PS- I am old too, but have made this work on a couple of contracts. I am very sharp, mind.

I'd go for this if it was on O2. Talk Mobile is on the Vodaphone network, which has no coverage here. I am just coming to the end of a mobiles.co.uk redemption deal (24 months)- got all the redemption cheques already with no hassle.

Thanks, thats good to know. I signed my step dad up last week on this, but it was about £3 a month then. Got this deal for my step brother on Monday and thought it a bit of a bargain. Forgot to post it though, too busy looking for a decent S3 deal :D

No idea I'm afraid, not something I needed for my step dad. I did put 3G Watchdog on it, to cut his data off if he hits his limit. I also installed a call counter, to tell him how much he'd used. Pretty sure that wouldn't cut the phone off though, not sure if there is an app that will.

I tried to order Sony Xperia U yesterday on mobiles.co.uk, but they came back asking for £100 deposit for 6 months. They said it depends on credit check etc, I am with 3 now, 24month contract no problem there, then why they asking for deposit.
    Any suggestion? experiences?

FYI: Talk Mobile only lets you go over by £50 and then it cuts out.

I have been with TopCashback a couple years now, and had about £900 back from various things. The biggest single amounts have been from car insurance (£40-£80 a time) and mobile phone deals (£30-£40), but I have had hundreds in smaller payments too. It all adds up.

If i went down to Carphone Warehouse and got a deal, is there any way i can get top cash back?

No. They pay commission to the online sites who then pass it on to you. If you go into the shop then any commission goes to the shop people.

    No probs.

If you didn't want an android you can get a samsung C3050 on the same deal, that actually works out as a profit rather than a monthly cost: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/samsung-c3050.html

Many thanks OP - I've gone for this also, tho I may well get turned down as it'll be my 3rd contract handset from mobiles this year... but this one has a better bundle than the others. Heat :)

Does anyone know which CRA this company uses to do the credit check?
    tek-monkey
The one my step bro ordered on Monday evening has arrived already. No idea on the CRA they used I'm afraid.
