You lot get on my nerves. You never seem to take into account that the search on HUKD is the most user-UNfriendly search I know of.
I have searched for yesterdays and cannot find it either. If it's there you would think that a simple search for 'Samsung' might reveal it amongst other samsung posts in the first few results pages for a post yesterday! Pathetic, and the sooner the Admins sort out this **** search facility, the sooner we will all see a vast reduction in duplicate posts.

TIP FOR ADMIN. Ask Google how they work their search facility.

I wasn't having a go at you personally, I was having a go at the general 'double post' complaining culture on here, when the people who are posting the deals are more than likely looking first to check it's not already posted. If you couldn't find it isn't it likely that they couldn't either?
Like I said, if the search system wasn't so poor most double posts would not appear.

It was there - I read it, was about to vote on it, and it disappeared!
I presumed it had been removed by the moderator, perhaps as spamming

As it happens. for this type of machine, it looks a good buy

pretty light at 1.89kg for the power you get. battery life would be the one concern I have as I think with these small and light laptops you need to get atleast 5 hours in my view.

Good deal for a high spec 12.1" - perhaps it should be mentioned in the title, though, as it took me a minute to work out why it was hot.

hmm, is the Q45 discontinued? just searched on the samsung site, they only have the Samsung Q45, Intel C2D T5450 Processor, 12.1" Screen, Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Integrated Graphics, NP-Q45A00A/SUK at £480:roll:

Seems like a good price, although that much power and storage in a laptop with only a 12.1" screen is a bit wasted. I presume the screen size won't be enough for a desktop replacement or heavy use, yet the specs are way overboard for a work portable or email+surfing while travelling.
  13. wordsworth's avatar
Average Run Time* Approximately 6 Hours. makes it an even better deal in my view.

Agree you don't need this type of power for basic stuff, you could use a netbook or £200 or so laptop for that, but if you need to run resource intensive apps like photoshop then it is a good buy.

Agreed, and even better if you hook it up to an external monitor.. its an excellent buy, small footprint on the desk too

I wonder if XP can be installed on it?

Great small laptop at a good price, I had a Q45, but when I got an EEE PC I didn't need it anymore because it was perfect for my needs and much smaller, so I sold it.

For some people the Q45 specs and size are perfect, but for me it was overkill, and the EEE PC is nearly half the weight which is great for me because I take it everywhere including travel.

This is a 12.1" laptop so it's more expensive than a 15.4" with the same specs so don't judge it against most other laptops posted here.
  26. PoisonJam's avatar
Yeah, this is really for a business/professional user who needs a lot of power in a very portable package (remember what laptops were originally designed for - not just to save space over a home PC?). Smaller, performance technology always costs more than larger alternatives.

This isn't merely a desktop replacement and it would be wasted on such use. Look elsewhere if this is your concern.

What is the weight of that laptop? Over 3Kg?
What is the battery life of that ? Less than 1.5hours?

Who's arrogant? The person that point out that this laptop is not directly comparable to most other laptops posted here or the person who does selective quoting changing the meaning of a sentence, compare this laptop with something that is rather very different and then call other peoples arrogant?

It is perfectly acceptable to judge THIS laptop. It is not acceptable to compare this laptop with a cheaper £300 one that might look at first sight to have similar specs but if you look more closely is not portable or has poor battery life, etc.

So please, post a link to a comparable highly portable laptop that is better priced. A 1.89Kg 12.1" screen laptop does not occupy the same market segment as a 17" screen 4Kg thingy.

Not sure I would pay that sort of money to hook it up to my monitor and leave on my desk.
If you want a relatively small footprint you can buy a cheaper laptop that would have a better graphics. Or else the Eee desktop by Asus-whatever the name is.
  38. vbnmu's avatar
People should really try carrying a 15"+ laptop around the place for hours. This laptop is ultra portable and is in a different league to desktop replacement laptops.
The Acer was cheaper but hey, it is unavailable. This deal is not bad at all.

I think it's a little over-priced for a discontinued laptop, esp considering you can get it's replacement, Q210, for £50-60 more if you look around. It (Q210) is currently being sold at Argos for £600
