I've had aa 128GB Samsung ssd as my boot for a few years now, I'd never go back.
Install your OS, and your browser to it, plus a few essential applications like office that you'd like to open instantly.
Get out of the habit of saving to the desktop, and install other apps and games on a second drive.
£29.99, it doesn't get much better. Beyond this they'll probably just stop making them and make 256 the minimum or something.
I've got 4 ssds in my main computer, one in the gf's, and one in the laptop. They're the best upgrade ever.
If you then login to your account area to review the order it may have a message about "processing" - that would likely mean you are allocated to the first 1400 we had in, if it says "awaiting stock" that will mean your order is allocated against the stock that lands Monday.
Thanks
Dunc
Yawn. Another hukd pointless comment.

£1.79 delivered including screws. I fitted one yesterday and it was good quality for the price.

Absolutely everything will be faster from programs booting up and operating when they are open. You'll never want a mechanical hard drive again once you go to an SSD.
macrium.com/ref…spx is a hard drive cloning software. Credit goes to "topss" Who gave this link yesterday on page 2. Never done it for windows but i'll assume that macrium will run you through it without a hassle
NO ONE here should have told you we had no stock and no ETAs - we've guarantees of stock, we just had to wait for the next shipment to us, some will land next week, the balance towards the end of September. Again if your order is on the system you will receive your order - just not as quickly as we'd hoped for extra orders we unexpectedly took.
Can i also advise if you have paid via paypal we (dabs.com) do not have your funds, PayPal ringfence the funds for the order and then only release to us upon dispatch of the item from our warehouse.
Appreciate this may not be ideal but given the deal, I suggest anyone who wants this incredible price do not cancel your order as we will fulfill the balance during the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

People complain when it doesn't arrive and also when it does arrive.
They just can't win.
Poor Dabs.oO
Very true. Soon as I had an SSD in my Desktop I refused to buy any computer without one. This SSD is perfect in that it is big enough for the OS to be put onto and a lot of applications as well. Photoshop and 3D modelling programs run like an absolute dream on my Toshiba SSD.
I used this guide.
I received no further communication from Dabs until yesterday when they dispatched it. At what point did they know that they'd... fluffed... this up and why didn't they give us revised timescales via email? Eugh. What **** poor communication.
If they'd just sent Dunc's message out as an email, it would have been better than nothing. A mea culpa and an update go a long way.
This has been so badly communicated. A well-written mea culpa email and updated timescales and this could have been a PR win. Or at least not a clustersomething, that makes Dabs look unprofessional and unreliable.
"We're very sorry. You ordered a SanDisk 120GB SSD with us, and there may be an unexpected delay in getting it to you.
Due to an error on our part, we sold too many of this fantastic offer and it's delaying our stock and dispatch process as a result.
We started off with 1900 drives in stock, but due to a technical issue our system accepted back orders that it shouldn't have done.
We don't want you to miss out on this great deal and we don't want to let you down, so we've worked with the excellent team at SanDisk to get even more of drive as soon as we can.
We've got more stock coming from SanDisk this weekend and even more coming before the end of September.
You order and custom are important to us. Please accept our apologies and bare with us.
We understand if, when you receive your new estimated delivery date, you can't wait and need to cancel your order. You can do this by logging into your account on Dabs.com and *yada yada yada*.
If you've ordered one or more drives with us and you haven't cancelled your order, we will do our best to fill that order as quickly as we can."
I've no doubt someone in the PR department could do a better job.
This could have potentially switched me over from Ebuyer. Even with the screw-up that has pushed back timescales, if it were properly handled. It certainly would have got me reading the Dabs email shots at least.
I have a hand in ordering between £10k and £20k of kit a year. Not a huge sum in the scheme of things, but far more than the cheap-ass SSD for my nan, or my own personal spend. Now the new Dabs mailshots will go in the spam folder.
Well done Dabs(!) I gave up dealing with you years ago because of poor service, and you've managed to turn your guaranteed sale of a decent product at a good price into a "never again". I doubt I'm alone in that.
Umm I think Nexy is spot on with how this has been handled. Keeping informed is a must, I have emailed Dabs who replied that they are looking into my query & will be in touch but have not? I have also this morning sent DM to "Dunc" as he offered but have not had a reply? All up my first order with Dabs & possibly my last, yes mistakes happen & they may well have been inundated due to HUKD BUT they surely should have handled it better their response through this site by "Dunc" is sporadic!
And it saves pennies on electricity-more over time...you never need to use sleep again as PCs boot up to a fully usable machine in 20 seconds.
Pretty simple.
Probably best buying a cheap (a few quid off Amazon) SATA-2-USB connector/enclosure and just use some free software like Macrium Reflect.
macrium.com/ref…spx
What if you're stupid, surely that's an excuse?
Be very careful - OSX Yosemite doesn't support TRIM for non-Apple ssd's and will throw up all kinds of glitches. I had to downgrade my Macbook Pro to OSX Mavericks so I could enable TRIM on my new 256GB Toshiba ssd.
Buy 4 and mirror 3 times!
Buy 10 and mirror loads. They will never, ever drop in price again. This is the cheapest 120GB there ever was or ever will be.
For your laptop just whack it in. You can stick it into a 3.5" slot on your desktop with a spacer though some have 2.5 slots available. Or just Velcro on a side! At this price you will get tremendous bang for book! Assuming of course this will make a difference to your life greater than something else for 30 pounds and a little of your time. Just remember that you will want another drive for mass storage if required. I use SSDs in most of my laptops and you certainly feel the difference when you try mechanical! Happy days! You can get pretty good cloning software these days but a clean win10 install is a treat!
how come you got it in ~£46? 240GB shows for £59 and with TCB 7.5% it comes out to be ~£55
if you refuse to buy a computer that has not got an ssd, you are going to pay a lot. It's much cheaper to buy without and install your own purchase. Plus you can pick any computer without looking slightly pompous.
Possibly. If you can source a SATA HDD/SSD caddy to replace the optical drive then you could have both in, but obviously lose the internal use of the Blu-ray drive (I think that's what comes with the laptop?). If that doesn't bother you, then you could just stick the optical drive in an external usb enclosure..
Or we could get really boring and talk about RAID10 now (_;)

350 MB/s is for the 240GB variant.
Amazon includes a 3 year warranty and they have always given excellent service when I've had issues with products (offering an immediate refund or replacement), whereas DABS are notorious for poor service. Looks like an extra fiver well spent to me.
The warranty is with the retailer, not the manufacturer,
according to trading standards anyway!
Amazon have always replaced or refunded me if in warranty period............
