With the aggressive introduction of cloud services, and 4K cinema/TV snapping at our ankles, it wont be long before we are replacing blu-ray with the 'next' new format. I give it less than 4 years before you'll be replacing these again with format 'x'.

The next format is going to be 4K bluray and I reckon 1080p blurays will stay on the market for the lower end, just like dvd is now but slowly fading away.

How can you be sure that Disney will even release the original version as it was or even release them at all? Have they bought the rights to the originals or is it just the future Star Wars?

Possible Quidco 3% / TopCashBack 5.45% (ends Sunday 6/10) - though it may get declined if using the voucher code, it may be worth a try...
Annoyed that I've ordered it on Amazon for 47.75, and cancelling it may not work.

Although Disney now own the rights to the franchise, the original was bankrolled by Fox. Its my understanding that any new releases will have to be distributed by Fox which as you may expect would be potentially awkward.
What are the odds of seeing a full unaltered version of the originals restored and remastered on Bluray? It's a product aimed at a certain subsection of a certain subsection of people (The minority who spell George Lucas' name with a $ character because they are making a "highly original" and "humerous" statement about the man's well deserved wealth). Could happen but not likely in the same way that the 3D versions were canned as soon as Disney signed the deal.
You would think that these people were numerous given comments on various websites you would be mistaken.

I also heard that the current technology in 3DTV's is nothing new, and very simple to implement . The reason 3DTV's cost so much is not coz of the tech inside, it was merely a tactical decision to ride the wave o f this 'new' gimmick all the way to the bank.
We've already witnessed 3DTV's dropping in price, but soon enough once the shine wears off, it should be classed as a standard feature, pulling the price back in line.
