Its only for Super smash bros so probably not. Just a hint, unpack the Wii u and do all the updates before you wrap it that way he can get straight into the games on Christmas morning. There's some great games out there for it, enjoy!

These are Wii Classic Controllers in GameCube shells so they work with other games too. "Super Smash Bros. Fighting Pad" is the title they used for the pads.

Seeing as these are only for Smash Bros, unless he will be spending a lot of time on Smash, maybe a Wii U Pro Controller would be a better choice as it will work with the majority of games.

Also, while you are doing the updates, go to the Demo/Free to Play section on the eShop and install a few things if you have the space to spare. Redeem any download game codes too because the eShop servers are generally stressed over the Christmas and downloading can be slow and frustrating for some.

You can. The Mini NES and these Wii Classic Controllers all have the same ports.

I've not found a deal on Wii cable extension yet but the Chinese shouldn't take too long considering the popularity of the Mini NES.

Wish these worked on the gamecube would snap one up for some retro gaming then. Can't stand the 'C Stick' on the gamecube controller which is a shame cause it's probably the most comfortable controller I've held

Really high quality and the SNES-themed GameCube controller is in the £100s+.It looks like this:If CeX ever randomly has this in stock as a "value GameCube controller" it'd be mine. Speaking of CeX, I bought one of the GameCube Smash edition (black) controllers for £10 and it usually goes for £12.00. Already have four official GC controllers (2x black Smash, 1x black Original, 1x Orange Original) but I'm still gonna try to get a purple, white and green (Japan-exclusive).It's really not worth getting the third party controllers for GameCube unless it's Hori.

I've got two of those puppies, boxed excellent controllers for platformers and 2d fighters! really nice! I was thinking more about playing games like Time Splitters with a decent second analogue stick.

I am a fan of Hori controllers too, I have two wired Hori controllers on my PS3 and one for my PS4 too. Simply the best third party controllers, prefer them to the official dual shock controllers on both past and present gen consoles!

Thanks for the reply though man!

Does anyone know if they will work on Nintendont on the Wii U?

This is a Wii Classic Controller so by logic it should as I read on GBATemp but there's a problem -- digital triggers. GameCube games that require analogue triggers (i.e. Mario Sunshine) might not work properly.

Amazon Italy will have the Mini NES back in stock in November 30 for the original RRP but they're not shipping to UK which is why it can't be posted here.

As Amazon Italy will have it by then, then I guess UK retailers will have new stock in too. Just gotta be patient for those wanting the Mini NES.

Does this work as a classic controller on the Wii?

Mainly useful as a second controller as games always seem to use the controller with a screen for player one.

Yes. make sure all games and the xbox one is fully updated. then if you got chance plug it in and try it again as near to Christmas day as possible (then wrap them up). As updating games and xbox one now, may result in other updates before the big day. 2 yrs ago had a problem were our sky broadband went down (well, running at dial up speeds) on Christmas morning and was not fixed for 5 days. we had to take my sons xbox to his grand parents so he could install updates and dl some game he wanted.

A family member just bought a Xbox One and asked me to set it up for him, he's getting on a bit (70's lol) and he only has the standard unlimited sky broadband and it took hours to update! I ended up going home and coming back to finish it.

Also I buy all my games digital so I expect download and install times but just bought Titanfall 2 on disc and had to practically install the whole game and do a update before it would play, so I would say yes! Update everything lol
