I'm sure it's very nice stuff....but if you asked me wether I want a bottle of this... or 8 bottles of chivas regal at £20(posted earlier) for same price, then its no contest. but I voted hot due to price reduction, so cheers anyway.

I agree ...I would much rather have this :D

wish I had a case of that in the garage! 900 quid a bottle!
airbus330
This could be a good investment. I recently finished a bottle of 20yr First Edition which I bought in 2005 for c.£60. I looked around to replace it (used for special family events) and the few that are available from specialist retailers are on offer for around £180-200.
Plus, its a great whiskey!
I got given a 1982 cask strength Port Ellen a little while back
made the mistake of opening it before I realised just how sought after it was going to become

go look at how much they go for these days... :|

it was absolutely incredible though
At that price I wouldn't be drinking it, I would be framing it!

Seriously, you need not have worry about any HUKD members being fleeced if they are willingly purchasing £150 bottles of JD
chris4mccall
I wanted to advertise this mainly to help those interested in collecting one but not be fleeced by those "selling" them online via a certain auction site. One gentleman states that he's accidentally managed to obtain 3 and is selling them for a minor 50% profit....Sorry I just hate to see people getting fleeced.

It wasnt the regular punters i was worrying about. It's the every day ones, who might not know about this site and would welcome not paying an extra £50 for something they can buy online instead. I take exception to the fact that someone, on the auction site i didnt mention, has acquired 3 bottles, all at the same time and is only looking for £50 profit. Like i say it wasnt ever going to reach 1000+ heat but for some JD collectors (which I am one) this is a decent item.
I love JD and I Have a bottle of the 1915 Gold Medal which was fairly expensive (around £55 - £60 I think) to be honest it is no better than normal JD and far inferior to the single barrel which is normally around £37 in Tesco. So if you fancy something a bit nicer than normal JD get down Tesco and get some single barrel.

Jeesh, people are so negative on this site.
Great find thanks
Nice spot, I actually quite like this deal.

I spotted this last year, but I belive it was only available in certain airports (london), so this is the first that I know of anywhere to buy this online.

I shall be picking one of these up now and putting it away as a christmas present.

This stuff is lethal!

Not quite as lethal as the idiots that play the green trumpet. :p

This stuff makes good use of the word 'boggin',
This is about the price it is the the corner shop anyway BUT in general it is good value for money as once you have consumed the high caffeine/alcoholic content, you can then use the glass bottle as a weapon.. well.. that's what shamefully happens here in Glasgow .. turns otherwise decent people in to A-holes Definitely not the type of wine you have on the dinner table!!! xx

It would be quite close on price if you had to pay for a delivery slot with Ocado. If you have delivery pass or it is that price on the shelf in Waitrose then of course this would be more expensive.

It also suggests it is a PM with Tesco altough I didn't check.

Have you actually bothered to search Sainsburys or Asda's websites. They're both on there. Sainsburys was £15.00, save 33%, now £9.99 and Asda's just listed at £7.00. It wasn't hard to find, literally popped Jack Daniels in the search box

Can only see a page of rums there. The right one is called Caribbean Spiced. They have it in all our local ones, so should be nationwide :-) Does smell identical!

Edited By: honest_geezer on Jul 03, 2012 00:51: .
Only newly introduced to rum. A friend very kindly let me have some of his Sailor Jerry Original (the same expensive one as this) and with coke the I tasted a distinct vanilla and lime flavour. It was a fantastic drink and it got me onto their mass marketed version... It's nice, but every time I drink it I am reminded of the sadness that they no longer make the good version, and likely never will..

@ Honest_geezer, is this the ASDA one you are referring to? http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=asda+rum&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=228128
Honestly, try Asda's own! The soon to be Mrs :D is an original SJ connoisseur and said they are VERY similar!!!
Really weird as own brand isn't always great still, but this has been tried and tested amongst friends. It's certainly more like it than the new "improved" version.

Edited By: honest_geezer on Jun 23, 2012 08:06: .
Thanks for all the comments - will have to look at Asda's own too! My brother is a [whatever the name for a person who concocts and makes cocktails...barman lol?] in one of Newcastle's better bars, and says they're often asked by punters if its the new or old recipe that they stock - they also had to reblend a lot of their cocktails to take into account for the change. The nicest rum I've come across in a long time is Venzuelan - Ron Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, to be fair that's just under half the price of this for half the volume...but it does beat SJ hands down :)
I paid 1/4 of this price for a barrel of Pusser's Rum (cask strength), admittedly this was a few years ago (ok alot of years ago), but this seems like a total ripoff, the old recipe wasn't that much better.

Nice heads up on the Asda own stuff though honest_geezer, have to look out for that, purely for testing purposes of course!
