Sorry I have said thanks

I thought I had replied to you on another post? sorry not sure now lol there are so many!

The cheapest is probably going to be a DIY holiday from Preswick with ryanair? they havent really dropped their prices greatly yet for end of june/July so might be worth hanging fire a couple of weeks...

oh actually that said, isnt that your school hols up there? hmm they will have a black out zone for cheapies... Thomas Cook have some Turkey HOls at the start of the holidays at reasonable prices x yes turkey sounds great as we have been there the past few years. It is the school holidays then. Don't really mind Liverpool or Manchester either. Just looking for a good deal ai. Thanks so much.

its definately too early to put together a really cheap DIY holiday so the only thing I can suggest for a holiday so far in advance might be with larger tour operators such as Thomas Cook or Thomson? xxx

I have been to Turkey 7 times and have loved every minute of every holiday. I wouldn't go to Marmaris though too commercialised. The coastal resorts around Antalya are the best. I have never been ill while I have been there either.
wellhellothere
Just looked and it is still showing available for the same price, how do I put the screen grab on to Hotdeals ???.
monkeyhanger75
Beware the chewy icecream - I went over on the ferry from Rhodes to Turkey for the day (Marmaris?), only had drinks from sealed bottles and a chewy icecream while in Turkey. I was the most ill I have been in my life for 3 days afterwards - flu-like symptoms but worse. I imagine that icecream would have been thawed and refrozen many mines over.

Too many pushy, loud,queue-jumping perma-drunk Russians holidaying in Turkey now at the all inclusive places of Turkey - maybe a 5T/Platinum is dear enough to keep them out.

Mexico is the place to go (not at these prices though).

Bad experience in Turkey, wouldn't go back there if someone paid me to!
Care to explain?
I went to Turkey a while back (probably 8 years ago now) and it was one of the best holidays (top 5 atleast) I've ever had and I've been quite a few nice places.
I've been meaning to give it another shot, but posts like this make me a little reluctant.

That's the thing, we can't leave it too late.
We have Disney Paris booked for 26-30th May and if we want to cancel with loss of only 35% then have to cancel by 17th May.
Going 28th for 2 weeks is too much time off school for the kids, whereas going late in the previous week and into early week after half term results in only 3/4 days missed. Mind you, if I'm gonna get fined for 4 days I may as well get fined for 10!

Need to get the prices for total holiday down by about 2 grand to make it affordable, so if I can get flights down to £200 each rather than £800 each then we're covered.

I paid >£800 (premium economy) so that my 6 year old would only miss one week of school (the other week was in the Easter holidays).

So, I ended up paying well over the odds and the school still tell me they may fine me - worst of both worlds. With hindsight I should have said sod the school and taken him in term time. It would have cost an extra £60 fine but I would have saved a hell of a lot more.

I am considering going to Orlando, and not stepping foot inside any of the themeparks! There is plenty to still do! (I visit every year with the charity Dreamflight with 200 seriously ill children, I know every park and ride inside and out, so no need to do them again!!). Its a great destination with virtually guaranteed sunshine, great choice of food, amazing value, some lovely hotels and pools, and just over an hours drive to East or West coast and a huge selection of beaches and towns. Downtown Orlando is great for a few bars and clubs - and if you want to give skydiving a go, its perfect weather and really cheap! I did my AFF qualification there, amazing experience. Amazing price, I might have to keep an eye on such deals after the summer.

Nothing else to do in Florida apart from theme parks, lol. I suppose that means you have never been.

Actually I've been at least seven times that I can remember, probably more and the first time was in 1984 a couple of years after Epcot was opened and the last time in 2006 for the Star Wars weekends.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Orlando, but the last time I went I got bored of the same old thing. The parks don't open new rides that often and I've just tired of it recently.

My comments about California were for those who want to avoid the droves of people at peak times whilst enjoying some theme parks but having a few more options too.

Great price!

For those considering going at peak UK times it might be worth looking at California as an alternative.

Generally speaking the flights can be a bit dearer, but the weather is more consistent and there are plenty of theme parks too like:

Disneyland
Disney's California Adventure
Knotts Berry Farm
Universal Studios Hollywood
Six Flags Magic mountain
Raging Waters (waterpark)
Legoland California

Not to mention the sceneray in California blows the socks off Orlando.

The parks are nothing in comparison though...we did universal hollywood in half a day when we went in August last year

Well it depends what you want and California gives you the best of both. Theme parks and the ability to see some wonderful sights. If you want theme parks from morning to night all day everyday with little else then Orlando is the place to go.

On the dreamliner too, pleasant flight on there.

I don't understand why the dreamliner is rated / popular. I can understand raving about the A380 but for me dreamliners just seemed to be more packed with narrower seats. For long haul flights I'll try to avoid flying on a dreamliner again, even if it means paying 15-20% extra for a different flight.

Hotel is alright but those with fairer skin will be told not to venture outside the resort alone and the excursions aren't worth doing. You'll basically be tied within the hotel for the duration. If you want a relaxed holiday, this just isn't it.

you do know thats a different hotel to the one posted mark?
Both hotels are in the same resort, you have access to all the bars pools restaurants in both hotels, the only exception is you have to have your evening meal in the hotel you are staying in.

Labour Day is observed on the 5th of May, so by the sounds of things it may be lively on the long weekend of the 3rd 4th & 5th, I believe locals get offered cheap rates over the weekends, I can't see them paying much less than anyone who got this deal though.

thanks for the heads up with Labour day tha'ts our last weekend there so maybe save any excursions for that weekend

my concern with marks post was the price difference that people were seeing as its cheaper to book the Merengue, and as you rightly pointed out you can use all the facilities apart from one meal anyway.

Labour Day is observed on the 5th of May, so by the sounds of things it may be lively on the long weekend of the 3rd 4th & 5th, I believe locals get offered cheap rates over the weekends, I can't see them paying much less than anyone who got this deal though.

Stayed there 4 years ago and paid over £1000 each - excellent find !!
thats great news for me .the reviews on trip adviser are excellent.but its still nice to have a reply from someone who has stayed there.

Nothing special about this or the other 2 hotels on the complex. Food is average at best. Why the excellent Trip Advisor ratings? Well, it's sunny, hot, cheap and all inclusive drinks.

Do they still have the maids at the entrances to toilets and dining areas offering anti-bacterial gel?
wow you know how to kill things dont you..i bet you have a ball on your hols

No, this hotel knows how to try to kills things. People to be exact. I do have a ball on my hols. Just not this one.

I think you have to take the Tripadvisor reviews with a grain of salt, many are probably disappointed after their travel agents fleeced them for huge money and claimed the resort offered the world.

For £500 a head for two weeks I'm willing to take a chance, I'm not expecting anything amazing but considering the price I paid it's hard to believe you could go wrong.

Fair play. You'll be fine but, in my opinion, the food isn't great. There is a large selection of salads, burgers. Nothing much to eat that's particularly inspiring. It's also sunny and hot as I said to scopsowl. And there are of course free drinks. That may be perfect for some people and you get a lot for your money.

Good find for the Bank Holiday, only four days leave needed for a week away and a groggy Monday morning.

Agree with Chuckies27 Loro Parque is amazing, we got a backstage tour last time and got to see a few weeks old baby whale.

was that Morgan? we saw her too :)

Was the Penguin part done when you were there? WOW!

The whale was called Vicky. Unfortunately she died last year.

I've seen the penguin bit twice, amazing how they keep it so cold. As good as the one in Florida, looking forward to seeing the one they've built in Brum in a few weeks.
