Yeah definitely doesn't affect their education, they're only missing 50 lessons in those 2 weeks... That's only 5% of the whole year. Plus it's the lazy teachers job to catch them up, they could actually work an extra 2 weeks in the holidays to do it (and obviously the other hours of children who take different weeks off). In fact teachers don't need sleep, just get them to work through the night as well... And yes istanbul_Kop I am being sarcastic (you probably didn't get that because you spent too much of your education getting a tan).
I had many holidays off as a kid, both in primary school and secondary school. And you know what, I'm a completely fine, fully functioning and contributing member of society, with no adverse affects of missing a few weeks of school. I've also got the bonus of having happy memories that will last a life time. Hopefully you can understand what I'm saying, as it may be hard to hear up there on your high horse.

I didn't miss any and I have a PhD and work at NASA. I've also won Mastermind.

Should go when the kids are in school. Less people. Better deals. And if anyone says anything...they're your kids, you're in charge. Tories be damned. I didn't vote for them. Not the boss of me. Just another excuse to squeeze money from the people. Screw them.

Yep don't let your kid's futures and education stand in the way of you saving a few quid.

my 2 children didn't have a single 'lesson' for the last 2.5 days of the term that has just finished - their class was too busy watching DVDs and having parties/discos. Just like last July and the July before that.

But don't forget folks - EVERY term day is important/precious to your child's education. Complete and utter total ****.

Missing a couple of days at the end of the summer is not the same as missing a week or two during the term. The amount of parents who take their children out during sats week is unbelievable!
I'd love to take advantage of term time prices but I work in a school and have 3 children who I would not let miss time just to save money.
Until the holiday companies are forced to not put their prices up excessively in the school holidays, nothing will stop parents pulling their children out despite the impact on their education.

rather than make holiday companies reduce their prices ( as after all they are only taking advantage of supply and demand just like any other business ) how about a system of staggered term times across the country - which would have the same affect? I also love the idea from the welsh head who has grouped all their inset days in the same week; an idea so staggeringly simple and logical you have to wonder why no one has done it before.

also SATS are not the be all and end all that primary schools try to make out. the secondary school, our daughter starts at in august, was telling all the parents ( at the open evening ) that they will be ignoring the SATS results and making their own assessments. speaking of SATS ... if every day is important why did my daughter's Yr 6 do practically nothing of any educational merit since the SATS inished? And I know other Yr 6 parents from other schools noticed the same thing.

Be Smart, seperate.....and Haggle Haggle Haggle everything ;)
Always book separate
You'll end up paying for the car hire anyway cos thomson free car hire doesn't include the insurance you will definitely need . We went with thomson last November and it ended up cheaper to book car hire separately than to pay for their insurance.
Harsh, book villa cars and flights separate you'll save a fortune

Someone who was in Leicester said on one of my other deals they had broken up already and that was last week. I know it varies greatly. Some schools have already broke up and some are next week. Hopefully someone can make use of these. I have posted some for slightly later in July if that helps.
Unless you live in Scotland these dates are not in school holidays.

Beautiful place, clean, clear seas , fabulous colosseum which had movies showing in the wvening whilst we were there, and very reasonable prices . Would love to take advantage but can't get the time off at such short notice.

I've certainly added this to one of my places to visit too, no more leave left though til March 2015. I'm off to Antartica/Patagonia/Argentina for Christmas and New Year.... So, in the absence of holiday searching for me, I've been keeping busy finding lots for other people!

single prices waste of time unless your not coming back.
These are return prices
single prices waste of time unless your not coming back. Ryanair doing singles to faro in early August from east mids for £46, but you'll pay 150-200 for the return.

Thomson flights are expensive in comparison, and not so frequent.
Just expensive hotels though

It probably is now, the flights probably sold out weeks ago! It's impossible to link to the actual flights on the deal as they time out so you will need to search, that's why I put the screen shots in my posts.
This just takes you to the front page. Can't you link to the holiday specified. Its going to take forever to find it.
Flight prices risen unfortunately. Now around £100 pp. Bristol is cheap, 22nd July to 5th Aug for eg is under £60pp.

Oh dear. I bought the last 4 seats on this flight but now we can't go... Would someone like to buy them? I paid £370
I guess people need to make their own choices on hotel based on reviews and price as some people will enjoy it, some people not, as shown by the comments.

I would say at this time there may be less 18-30 travellers, rather more families given the time of year, but as I never travel in school holidays I wouldn't know!
We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and I would not recommend it to anyone. It is located in El Arenal and is more like a German 18 - 30 hotel rather than a family resort.
Stayed at the Palma Bay Resort for a week earlier this year, really enjoyed it. Booked a hotel last year with Alpharooms, they were terrible, read reviews on tripadvisor before you book or book with another company.

supplyuk, are you on the Norwegian Jade?
well, Perissa doesnt look anything like the photo :)
Oia / Imerovigli are beautiful!
Kemari/Perissa area black sand beaches.
Also, it is hot weather there. Best time to go before end of May.
Off top from this good deal.

You'd have to be mental to go to Greece on or around June 30th (the deadline day for the next debt repayment). Greece doesn't have the 1.4 billion they are ment to pay so they will fold as an EU member & if they pay, the people of Greece will (rightly) go mental.
I agree, and im on the mainland - still no protests. Hope the air-traffic controllers go on strike for 2 weeks from this weekend, so im stuck here
Refugees are in KOS not Santorini and protests on MAINLAND. Those saying its a bad time to go to Greece it's just the same as any other year (the pound is actually at a 7 year high against the euro so even better), fair enough **** it off all you want, you'll be missing out on a beautiful country. I'm going in 2 weeks and I go every year sometimes 2-3 times never have issues. That's a good price for santorini it's normally £600+

of course they will feed you. Food is still available to buy and hotels and restaurants will still be serving food. It's just that the atmosphere is a bit different during Ramadan as most of the folk there are fasting during the daylight hours and things may not be as lively as they normally are.

All inclusive but, of course, no food between sunrise and sunset, could be a long day.
The hotel is Hotel Riu Tikida Garden, the deal is from Gatwick on 15/06/15.

Just be aware that Ramadan starts around 18/06/15 and things may be a little different around Marrakech during this period.
Link not working mate but that hotel looks like the kenzi Menara Palace.

Do you feel so confident that you could buy Greece with 3000GBP?
If i give you 6000gbp could you please buy two for me?
And if you have so much money, why are spending your time to avsite to save a penny?
You miserable lot! #tight fisted. I work my ass off all year so when it comes to a holiday I'll pay for it cos I earned it. My kids holidays are different to yours then. It's good timing for me.
Very late in the season, could have rain.
I, personally would not travel to Crete
this late and at such high prices. May is
a much better time and lots cheaper.

Thinking of booking Santorini, great deals around, a little concerned it might not be great for my lad, he's only 4 though so I'll keep him entertained plebty and we always go self catering to Greece, we like the fact you can have a lazy start with breakfast on your balcony, eat out most other times but nice to be able to make a packed lunch, have beer wine and other bits in the fridge.

I've found Corfu, Crete relativity cheap to eat out, is Santorini much more expensive then?

Can't beat a 2 Euro Gyros and a cold pint of Mythos for lunch most days!!

Anyone got advice for getting a cheap deal in Sept?!

Is it worth risking it and waiting till August and getting a late deal somewhere??

I'd shop around 6 weeks before you want to go for a good late deal.

I love the Greek Islands, but are these islands now going to be full of refugees, there seems to be a lot of reports of lots of landings in Kos and surrounding islands. To back this up, these islands certainly seem to be getting cheaper in the travel agents.

But only the ones near Turkey. Won't affect Santorini.
will be Manchester shaz[/quote]Yeah that should have several I believe.
