10-Night Bali & Malaysia inc Flights £469.00 @ Travelzoo

This twin-centre getaway is cheaper than prices for the flights alone elsewhere. Spend eight nights in the hip beach resort of Seminyak -- celebrated as "Bali's Notting Hill, Soho, or Miami Beach" by

Seminyak is just up the road from Kuta.
Kuta is party central and the Australian ibiza.

Nice if that's what your after. The area is very westernised in terms of tourism and shops but still plenty of local stuff going on.

Stay clear of the street wagons selling food (warung) unless you like to be ill.

If you need to change money in local exchanges double check it before you leave the counter.

Car travel is hard due to small roads, crazy traffic and locals who have evolved their own driving laws.

I suggest getting off the beaten track a bit, head inland to somewhere more rural. Ubud is a popular retreat and home of spiritualism with a nice laid back atmosphere and cafe culture.

Go on step further, rent a bike and tour the island. Out side of the large areas traffic is easier to negotiate. Plenty of marvellous sites to see with cheap accommodation from £5 per night, room for 2, including breakfast. Though admitted this may be a little more expensive from when I went 5 years ago.

Curious to hear if anyone managed to get it today at £469!

I called them last night and operator said no deals left at £469. I bought it at £488. Debit card fee is 1% so came to £492. She also said that most of the packages she had sold had a 2 hour lay over at KL before going to Bali however, none of those were left so I was given a flight with a 5 hour lay over! Oh well, booked now...
You should ask for a refund for the debit card fees as their it's & c's state no charge.

Thanks for the advice. Could you point me to the t's&c's please?

EDIT: Never mind, I see it. Thanks for bringing to my attention!

I'm sure it's a very nice place to stay but this isn't exactly a deal is it? Just a standard price for a slightly-above average B&B.

The price is the same as the best price you can find on trivago/booking.com, but here you get free £45 in Travelzoo-exclusive extras (such as £10 per person to spend in restaurant) which I believe makes it a deal.

Chester booked with breakfast....great deal.
For your info, they call it Chester but it is actually in Flintshire. We went once thinking it was Chester, it was in Wales backing onto the A55 expressway. There was nothing to do but walk around the business park that it was on. On the plus side it is next door to a Marstons pub so ideal for cheaper meals than Village Hotel.

I live nr there. Not alot there to be honest, close by there is Delamere Forest (for Go Ape etc). You could also then catch the train into Chester or drive (use Park and Ride as Chester is expensive for parking).

kelsall? nothing there.
Kelsall? I never thought of it as a getaway destination. Just down the road but also, just kelsall.

guys i just realised that in the euro star website it states

Credit card fees
A one-off fee of £3.00 will apply to all bookings over £30.00 if paying by credit card. There is no fee for payments by debit card!

I paid by debit card but got charged 3 quid on all 4 bookings ! did anyone else get the same when paying by debit card ?
I went to travelzoo and bought 4 codes , got the codes and went to eurostar and entered codes and about an hour later got my discount codes and I just bought 4 tickets now but i do have a slight problem , read this thread

I have not received my Eurostar voucher either.
Now 24 hours since completing the Claim your e-voucher page at Eurostar. So I contacted Eurostar and they are struggling with the volumes received from this deal. All they could do is resubmit my claim and told me to wait another 24 hours!? Not exactly reassuring...

Once again, has anyone actually received their voucher code from EUROSTAR and managed to use it on a booking?
i got it like 30 mins later for all 4 vouchers.

I've stayed there a few times with work, it's OK I suppose but like others have said it's a corporate hotel. It is reasonably well located for accessing the west side of the NY Moors (Sutton Bank) and not too far from York. However, it should be noted that the countryside in which Burn Hall is set really is nothing special. If you're looking at nice walks from the hotel with decent country pubs in walking distance then look elsewhere. There's a pub in nearby Huby that used to be really good for traditional pub food but it's a fair walk and there's no roadside footpath.

In this thread: people complaining about a rural North Yorkshire hotel being in the middle of nowhere.
There is a difference between being located in a rural setting and being on a B road with most 'local' attractions being "a short" drive away:

"15 minutes drive from York
York Bird of Prey Centre is a 5-minute walk away, or you can visit the National Trust's Beningbrough Hall, a Baroque mansion with National Portrait Gallery paintings, which is a 15-minute drive away
There is a huge choice of walking routes nearby -- the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a 25-minute drive away and Nidderdale AONB is a 45-minute drive away
The North York Moors National Park is a 20-minute drive away"

I mean, I don't want to labour the point, but these drive times are things that I would expect when staying in a rural North Yorkshire hotel that was not located specifically at or near the place that you wanted to visit. It is a big, sparsely populated county.

Parts of huddersfield are a dump, Birkby, far town etc but Meltham isn't.

It's a nice little place. Not quaint but not bad.

Many nice places nearby including Holmfirth etc and I assume most people going here will be in a car and not walking, so I don't understand what the big deal is if the hotels not exactly smack bang in the middle of the hanging gardens of Babylon!!!
What's trip advisor say?

It's in Holmfirth. Nice town where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed.
No it isn't, it's in the middle of Meltham, which is more of a commuter village for Huddersfield than a tourist destination. By no means an unpleasant place, but hardly the rural retreat on the edge of the Peak District it's being misleadingly promoted as.
Travelzoo are well known for misleading descriptions of hotel locations. Personally I would always put the postcode into Multimap and find out for myself where the hotel really is.
