I live nr there. Not alot there to be honest, close by there is Delamere Forest (for Go Ape etc). You could also then catch the train into Chester or drive (use Park and Ride as Chester is expensive for parking).

In Northwich there is Anderton Boat lift.
kelsall? nothing there.
Kelsall? I never thought of it as a getaway destination. Just down the road but also, just kelsall.

guys i just realised that in the euro star website it states

Credit card fees
A one-off fee of £3.00 will apply to all bookings over £30.00 if paying by credit card. There is no fee for payments by debit card!

I paid by debit card but got charged 3 quid on all 4 bookings ! did anyone else get the same when paying by debit card ?
I went to travelzoo and bought 4 codes , got the codes and went to eurostar and entered codes and about an hour later got my discount codes and I just bought 4 tickets now but i do have a slight problem , read this thread

I have not received my Eurostar voucher either.
Now 24 hours since completing the Claim your e-voucher page at Eurostar. So I contacted Eurostar and they are struggling with the volumes received from this deal. All they could do is resubmit my claim and told me to wait another 24 hours!? Not exactly reassuring...

Once again, has anyone actually received their voucher code from EUROSTAR and managed to use it on a booking?
i got it like 30 mins later for all 4 vouchers.
Has anyone actually received their voucher from Eurostar? 36 hours later after completing the 'Claim your e-voucher' still have not recieved

I've stayed there a few times with work, it's OK I suppose but like others have said it's a corporate hotel. It is reasonably well located for accessing the west side of the NY Moors (Sutton Bank) and not too far from York. However, it should be noted that the countryside in which Burn Hall is set really is nothing special. If you're looking at nice walks from the hotel with decent country pubs in walking distance then look elsewhere. There's a pub in nearby Huby that used to be really good for traditional pub food but it's a fair walk and there's no roadside footpath.

In this thread: people complaining about a rural North Yorkshire hotel being in the middle of nowhere.
There is a difference between being located in a rural setting and being on a B road with most 'local' attractions being "a short" drive away:

"15 minutes drive from York
York Bird of Prey Centre is a 5-minute walk away, or you can visit the National Trust's Beningbrough Hall, a Baroque mansion with National Portrait Gallery paintings, which is a 15-minute drive away
There is a huge choice of walking routes nearby -- the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a 25-minute drive away and Nidderdale AONB is a 45-minute drive away
The North York Moors National Park is a 20-minute drive away"

I mean, I don't want to labour the point, but these drive times are things that I would expect when staying in a rural North Yorkshire hotel that was not located specifically at or near the place that you wanted to visit. It is a big, sparsely populated county.

Parts of huddersfield are a dump, Birkby, far town etc but Meltham isn't.

It's a nice little place. Not quaint but not bad.

Many nice places nearby including Holmfirth etc and I assume most people going here will be in a car and not walking, so I don't understand what the big deal is if the hotels not exactly smack bang in the middle of the hanging gardens of Babylon!!!
What's trip advisor say?

It's in Holmfirth. Nice town where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed.
No it isn't, it's in the middle of Meltham, which is more of a commuter village for Huddersfield than a tourist destination. By no means an unpleasant place, but hardly the rural retreat on the edge of the Peak District it's being misleadingly promoted as.
Travelzoo are well known for misleading descriptions of hotel locations. Personally I would always put the postcode into Multimap and find out for myself where the hotel really is.

Loads of great walks in the Gwaun Valley (very pretty with bluebells at the moment), Pembrokeshire coast path walks, stunning beaches (fave is Barafundle), Coasteering at Abereiddi, Kayaking with Mike Mayberry and there's music at the Gwaun Valley Brewery every Saturday too

Disneyland Paris isn't a cheap break. Just a word of warning, here are a few costs
£120 in fuel and tolls (I live 140 miles from home to Dover), total of about 700 mile round trip. In reality it is closer to £300 if you factor in the real cost of driving a car at 35p-45p per mile.
£80 Ferry return via Calais, or £100 to use a different route avoiding Calais
Food and drink in Disney can set you back £25 each easily a day.
Parking about £10 a day
£40 for AA European cover, possibly cheaper with other companies, unless you already have cover.
Health insurance extra, check your bank account may include travel insurance
Exchange rate is 1.25 € to £, not great, so everything will be expensive
You have to allow upto 4hrs driving from calais to Disney with a stop. The last time I went was when the exchange rate was 1.4 and had 3 days in the parks, 4 nights in hotel plus all the above costs. Spending over £1000 for 3 days in the cold, wet, miserable parks. So we decided to never return and have been to florida twice since, booking last minute, our last trip in June 2014 cost £5000 for the whole holiday and expenses for a luxury villa with pool, massive suv, ate out all the time, flights, treats, disney and universal tickets, photopass for the memories. £5000 is much more than a Paris trip, but had 2 weeks in Florida. If you ever get the chance to go to Florida, you won't go back to Paris, but if you have never been Parc Astrix nearby is great and so is Disney Studios.
Or fly

I could post almost identical comment. Florida only costs slightly more than Paris when all factored in.

Is this not the normal price for Jan/Feb bearing in mind kids under 7 stay free anyway and kids under 18 only have to pay for hotel as park entrance is free for them as well?

No every child aged 3 and over has to pay for park entrance. We just paid £110 for our 4 year olds 3 day park ticket
stevenfeeney
^^ That seems a hell of a deal

Certainly is....last year out family of 4 would have racked up a Disney food bill of about £2700 (incl tips) over two weeks but in the end all it cost us was the tips (about £300 - you only tip the table service not the quick meals). We've just booked for 2017...Yaaay!

Edited By: hotyoda on Apr 25, 2016 22:02
Any good deals for early July at DLP? (before the kids break for summer)? Wanting to take myself and my boy, last chance for a "cheaper" holiday before he starts school in September. Best I've seen direct through Disney is 3 days/2 nights in a Disney hotel for £399 all in, that incudes tickets, Diseny accommodation and half board meal plan. The offer ends this week so I need to book soon.

I then need to book flights/ferry/chain separately. From Manchester it looks like flying works out cheapest.

Be interested what price this is end of May.
Been with a lot of cruise company's and ncl by far the best. No set meal times is a thing they've always done but the others are now following suit.
I don't care about the age of the passengers, as long as they don't impinge on me by being noisy or pushy. NCL is good for its drinks package, but the food isn't as good as P&O, nor is the range of entertainment. The Norwegian Epic is too big and noisy for me, and too much, too prominent, space given over to gambling.
