Who has £20 for a tea lol?
I'd have thought most people could afford £20 for tea, sandwiches, scones, cakes and a glass of sparkling wine for 2 people. Are you really so poor? Or do you just not understand the concept of afternoon tea?
lol
I am homeless and unemployed. And yeah I find £20 a pop expensive even with scones and sammiches. Instead I saved money for a fantastic 42ft yacht I have and take amazing women there. I've not paid for eating out in 10 years.

But thanks for explaining ;)

Excellent afternoon tea, we bought one a couple of years ago and it was very fresh, substantial and great surroundings. So when I saw this come up again, I though gotta have it.
Better to fall in love, then you wont need food lol.

They offer a wide range of dates on the Travelzoo page
Adding the dates that this cover on the deal would help here TBH
Transfers are extortionate, don't buy those, £150 for 2 people!

I stayed here last October, lovely food, beautiful grounds, about a 25 min drive to buttermere and derwentwater 2 of the best lakes around. Must admit didn't notice any slaughtered cows but I did have a steak and ale pie in the pub close by. Hope I don't turn into a chicken!!!!!
this may not be the best place to stop to experience the more common areas of the lake District. but as another said, Keswick is not too far away and is a lovely place and there are plenty of nearby (1hr nice drive) places to visit.
The mad cow era was about 15 years ago at least!

Hunday Manor is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds.
Cockermouth is about a 10 minute drive and is a beautiful little town (famous for William Wordsworth).
Keswick is about a 25 minute drive and again is a beautiful little town full of slate buildings, the hustle of tourists and walkers and then you also have the beautiful lake that it is set on.

I wouldn't write this deal off purely due to something that happened in the early 2000's and although it's not right on the lakes it's not a far drive.

Edited By: sploits on May 26, 2017 10:37: typo
Bargain.Hunters
Its at least an hour drive to centre of the lakes where the hustle and bustle is. This is in an area not so attractive. I went there on a quick break once.......in the middle of them slaughtering all the cows with mad cow. Not an attractive area. Just happens to be in the same county as the lakes. Better off staying in Carlise or Lancaster - quicker to get to the lakes from them.
I think they've stopped slaughtering cows as a tourist attraction now.
Miles from the lakes.

Have tried several times to bag a "special deal" holiday but each time it is "sold-out" - but they can offer me another at a much higher price! Do they really exist?
Ive stayed here, on company business, paid around £150 a night and the flight out was £100+ so this is a 50% saving
Massive casino as soon as you come of the yacht and plenty of bars and eateries in the harbour this is situated on
I have to add heat; I've purchased this exact deal when they had it in January. Just a few months left before I go :)

And it is the wifes 40th next week
Great, thanks.
Checked earlier and our flights are eligible for the free baggage deal, it's actually on Thomsons website if you look really really hard for it. I called them up as I haven't yet added bags to our booking and nope Thomson's won't honour it! They are saying it must be added at time of booking, my husband had tried to add the code at booking but website wouldn't accept the code, so he didn't add the bags with a view to sorting it direct, he's only just told me this. I'm waiting on a manager calling me back tomorrow. Any ideas whether they should honour the deal as they're still offering it as nowhere on the T's & C's does it say must be added at time of booking. Thanks all

Absolute nonsense. I can't think of a worse place to be in most countries and in particular in Cuba.

That's just not true. Cuba is no more dangerous than any either carribean island. Like most other impoverished locations local are generally kinder and more generous than others. In fact, you are more likely to gondola shark's and pushers in Varadero which is invariable where the all-inclusives will be. Would love to go back.
This is a great deal, we spent £3000 each last year! Is it half board?

Whats the weather like in January / February.
Saw this post late - Chinese New Year is often the driest and hottest time of the year in Malaysia (and next year it falls at the end of January) so Kuala Lumpur will be dry and hot then. (think 34-38 degrees Celcius).

Capitol Hotel is only a 3 star hotel but the location is pretty good as it's close to the Golden Triangle area of KL. If anyone here bought this deal, the hotel is almost next to the biggest (and most famous) technology shopping mall in Malaysia, Low Yat Plaza.

Edited By: jsty3105 on Oct 12, 2016 11:14
Seminyak is just up the road from Kuta.
Kuta is party central and the Australian ibiza.

Nice if that's what your after. The area is very westernised in terms of tourism and shops but still plenty of local stuff going on.

Stay clear of the street wagons selling food (warung) unless you like to be ill.

If you need to change money in local exchanges double check it before you leave the counter.

Car travel is hard due to small roads, crazy traffic and locals who have evolved their own driving laws.

I suggest getting off the beaten track a bit, head inland to somewhere more rural. Ubud is a popular retreat and home of spiritualism with a nice laid back atmosphere and cafe culture.

Go on step further, rent a bike and tour the island. Out side of the large areas traffic is easier to negotiate. Plenty of marvellous sites to see with cheap accommodation from £5 per night, room for 2, including breakfast. Though admitted this may be a little more expensive from when I went 5 years ago.

I called them last night and operator said no deals left at £469. I bought it at £488. Debit card fee is 1% so came to £492. She also said that most of the packages she had sold had a 2 hour lay over at KL before going to Bali however, none of those were left so I was given a flight with a 5 hour lay over! Oh well, booked now...
You should ask for a refund for the debit card fees as their it's & c's state no charge.

Thanks for the advice. Could you point me to the t's&c's please?

EDIT: Never mind, I see it. Thanks for bringing to my attention!
